Thanks for these tips, I tend to simply use a white shirt and a black background which makes it so I don't have to use as much light to make the image look great. I always wear a collared shirt, but I just can't stand to wear a tie, feels inauthentic. I am going to start experimenting with some more color however. I have some pinks, reds, and blues that may bring some pop. Thank you!
