Neb fan here. I feel ya. Our last AD was a former player and alum. Said it was his dream job when he was hired < 3 yrs ago. Said he wasn't going anywhere and he loved it here when he was given a raise last fall. Then boom, dueces, outta here. Never a good feeling when you're left holding the bag. Hard to believe anyone when they say they're staying forever and it's their dream job. Just hollow words that they have to say when introduced. Good luck with your search.

He sought the job out that he could not have foreseen being open. Yes,we pay more because we have the $$$. Trev made even more than Dannen will. Nothing else close near home was coming open that was better. Missouri is open but they have internal issues and everything but football is a mess. Their AD just quit and took a pay cut at Arizona to get away from it. Iowa just promoted up someone for their AD job. Nothing else close to Iowa is comparable or better than Washington than those.

Funniest part is from the looks of it the local reporter caught him at the airport. Dannen will be flying mostly private (at least to larger connecting hubs) from now on so that scenario doesn't really materialize much here in Lincoln. Good luck on your search, UW. Our football programs share good history and now that we're in the same conference there will be more tales to be told. Nothing but respect for your school.

Its what it is .. College Athletics, Jedd Fisch bolts for UW . previous AD leaves for USC .. Hire someone with UW ties , plain and simple , stop going for ADs from the South , Midwest , hire UW blood

I’ll say this as a Nebraska fan, I’m not sure how I feel about this hire. He didn’t seem to do much for Washington considering debore wasn’t his hire. And he failed to keep him. I’m not sure how much of that I put on him since Alabama next to Georgia is the best program in the country. But having someone leave after saying he would be here for the long haul, and there wasn’t any place he’d rather be, etc. in Trev Albert’s hurts and it sounds like he did the same thing to UW. The one thing I will say as someone who doesn’t know a ton about Dannon at least he gave an interview before he left. Like seriously Trev sent an email to his staff and left. Didn’t say ANYTHING. He still hasn’t addressed the situation. He was talking up Nebraska after he was silently taking several interviews with other universities quietly. No one here knew until after he left how much he didn’t want to be here. But he said the EXACT opposite. Like I said I just found out about this guys existence less than a day ago therefore I can’t speak to his character but I’ll give him the benefit that at least he stood in front of a camera and spoke.

Bad take and I am a Husker. Dannen made a great hire to replace DeBoer. The bb coach who is the likely pick from Utah State would be a great hire. What else in five months do you want? sheesh. A unique opportunity came up he was not anticipating. Trev left a legacy because others were pushing back on his stadium plan. Trev has always been a quitter.

@@brianyoungberg9904 What part of my take is necessarily bad? You make good points about jedd fisch. I’m not saying he wasn’t good for UW in the short time he was there. It’s just that. It was 5 months. No one knows how good he was. Jedd could be a huge miss and then what will he have done in his time there? As for the BB coach he fired a guy that needed to be fired and didn’t hire his replacement. He didn’t even tag someone as an interim. I don’t blame him for leaving as Nebraska is closer to Iowa and I believe overall is a better program, it’s just something to think about, there’s no loyalty in sports anymore. Carter left, Took A&Ms AD, They took Trev, we took Dannen from UW. And both Dannen and Trev both spoke highly of their universities and said they would be around for the long haul.

There are two separate concepts in these matters. We, the fans are loyal but this is a business, big business and the coaches, AD's, college presidents and now players.are all operating under the business mode of behavior and the disconnect is the fans expect these hired folks to put loyalty above all else. On the flip side the fans don't hesitate to rain their disdain on coaches, AD's, etc. when their team isn't winning the national championship so these individuals have the luxury of moving on to supposedly greener pastures because they know todays hero is tomorrows goat so have to have some self centered instincts to survive and make a comfortable living. Yeah, they make a lot of money but work their tails off to try and win and keep the fans off their backs.

UW Jumped ship in Pac 12, you guys got a lot of bad karma coming your way, Cougars can hold their head high and Oregon State, at least our athletes won't have to fly half way across the country for half the sports seasons.
