- As the racers meet in Arizona, many of them are feeling the effects of the dusty desert track. Chuck, Randy Williams, and Jerry Bird all skid on the track, resulting in several crashes.

In my day we had no issues getting down a slightly damp track *( from dew )* or a dusty track but we ran out slick at the proper pressure and we actually put heat into our tires the tires should be really hot *( so hot there’s no need for VHT or glue as the kids cal it today and when they do prepp a track it’s only to the 60’ mark after that they don’t prepp, the cars drag it down the track as they run )* and sticky after a burnout most of the tracks we raced were no prepp only the NHRA tracks were always prepped IHRA 90% of the time was an unprepped surface because the tracks couldn’t afford VHT and you wanna know a sketchy track I dunno if it’s still there or still that narrow but blue mountain raceway in TN that’s a tough track especially if your bracket racing there, bracket racing is the hardest form of racing there is the races are won and lost at the starting line, that and we have to run our dial if we go faster than that we lose night time especially after midnight is hard because the cars making so much more HP by 3am I’m letting out ab costing the last 80-100ft to not break out, and I dunno why these guys don’t use studded boxes *( a two step as the kids call it you set the studded to max it lets 4 cylinder fire the other 4 miss then the 4 that missed fire and the four that fired previous cycle miss this time around and it does that until you let go of the GO button )* so they can launch at full throttle and we didn’t run any sensors at all if the would run the proper shocks they wouldn’t need wheelie control sensors, I’m about to build a new car I think in the end it’s gonna be faster than Pre-nup by far it should hit around 210-220 in the 1/8 260-280 in the 1/4 and I’m gonna show receipts for my parts, time slips I’m gonna keep noticing secret I may even show quite a few secrets when I build my engine at first it’s just gonna be a really fast N/A SBC then I’m gonna throw a 500-1000Hp now kit on it run that for a bit till I get probably a 632 BBC at 13-1 or better with 14-71 roots blower *( overdriven 98% so I can run NHRA and IHRA )* a Lenco 5 speed, strange 10” quick change rear end I figure the final iteration of my build will cost around $45k, not counting running it as a hot rod, then a hot rod with NoS the only thing changing will be the engine and trans everything else is gonna stay the same from when I build the car I’m gonna using a true TF chassis with a lift up body you never know I might put a nitro burner in there one day and go for 300+

That Chevy 2 Boddie drove is the daddy's Dave's first Chevy 2 that he destroyed in the early days of no prep.
Boddie had that car well before Dave built his first Nova
