So sad to hear about Miles. My heart goes out to you and your family. It is clear how loved and cared for Miles is. I always appreciate when you include footage of Miles in your videos! I remember loving cats from a young age. I'm sure your girls will cherish the memories they have made and connection they have built with Miles

So sorry to hear about your cat. ❤ We became a family of 5 in 2024. I'm just like you, i knew as I delivered, it would be my last time. Still so bittersweet!! Soak it all in, the last firsts still make me cry.

I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. We lost our dog a couple years ago. My youngest didn’t fully understand (he was 4 at the time), but my older kids took it really hard. We cried when we felt like crying. It sucked, but a lot of love was felt for our dog in that time. Knowing he wasn’t suffering anymore helped us get through too.

Lauren, I'm so sorry to hear about Miles. We had a dog who (after a LOT of expensive vet testing) was diagnosed with cancer, too. It's such a hard thing to lose a pet. Wishing you and your family all the best!

I just heard you say you feel like you've taken a step backwards regarding your finances. However, you bought a new house, insurance went up, vet bills and inflation are crazy. And you are still not acquiring new debt, actually still paying off 800 a month! That is something to celebrate! Not a lot of people can do that at these times.

Very sad news about Miles. He's only 11 and sounds like a wonderful family pet. You have a great attitude about the change in your family budget. Life is constantly changing. This is a wonderful time with your kids.

Oh no sweet Miles! 😢 I am so sorry to hear about his diagnosis. At two, I think your kiddos will bounce back pretty quickly and might not really understand. But take care of yourself during this time. You’ve got a lot going on! Always rooting for your family!

I'm so sorry to hear about Miles!! The loss of a beloved pet/family member is so sad. I'd recommend Dr Becky for a resource on talking about death.

I'm so very sorry about Miles. Ask at your local library about picture books about pet loss - they should have some in their collection, and if they don't they should be able to find them at another library for you. This is a common thing parents are looking for to help their children understand. And do not worry about making slower progress. This is a season in life where the focus is on your family rather than making large financial gains, and that's ok!

You’re doing fantastic! I watch videos like yours and low income videos and you really are doing a great job financially. You only have one debt and your family brings in a good income and you get to stay at home like you want. ❤

Child counsellor here- a typical way to explain death to young children is that the body stops working, the heart starts beating, the lungs stop breathing, etc. It sounds blunt but is typically a way that a child can sort of make sense of that. Obviously then discuss any religious or spiritual beliefs you have as a family. When you talk about the cat being ill, you may want to ensure they know it's not contagious as that is a common concern of children. Encourage the kids to draw or paint pictures about the pet- they will draw/process what they need/where they are at. Your older child may like reading a book like "the invisible leash". You can do a read aloud on UA-cam so you don't have to buy anything. Very sorry to hear about Miles.

We had to put our dog down the week my second daughter was born. It was awful. Our eldest was 2.5yo at the time. At first when she noticed , we told her our dog was sick and she went to Heaven. We are a family of faith so our daughter was familiar with that and God. She often forgot those conversations so we'd continue to remind her and reassure her our dog was no longer sick but was with God and healthy. Our eldest is 5 now, she still talks about our dog, and in 2024 we experienced the death of my father in law. Again, we told her Lolo(Grandpa) was healed with Jesus and my daughter adds that Lolo is with Katara(our dog). We show our daughter pictures and videos of our dog and her Lolo and remind her it's ok to be sad, and that one day we'll see them again. It's heartbreaking, but we're thankful for the hope we have that we get to be with our loved ones again. Prayers for your family. Losing a family pet is extremely difficult. I'm so sorry. 💛🙏🏻

I have to three kids under six. We are consumer debt free. We have a small house on a large acreage with a VERY small loan. I was hoping we would get that paid off this year but I don’t know if it will happen. If it does happen, it will be because God provided the means to do it, because I don’t see a way right now.
Thankfully we live in a super low cost of living area, grow tons of our own food and generally are frugal people. My husband left a job he hated for many years, and now has a job he loves with a way better work environment and work-life balance, but it was a significant cut in pay. It does have really good benefits though, our deductible is $400 per person, $800 for the family. I think max out of pocket is $1700
I’m a SAHM, homeschooling my oldest and I don’t have the hustle I used to. I feel like we’re at a point in life where we could use extra income the most, and have the least capacity to make it happen. So I’m just trimming our budget and being super scrappy with our finances, trying to stretch every dollar. Two months into his new job and now we’re past the holidays - this pay period we didn’t have to dip into savings! 🥳

Kudos to you for how hard you’ve worked for your little ones. It’s so amazing watching your journey, don’t apologize for trying your best, feel like you’re doing such a great job!! 👏🏽 can’t wait to continue seeing your growth!

Do a favor for your future children (if you want more than 1) Have quite a bit of money! You better be pulling in well over 6 figures a year if you want them to live well. IF you don't think this is true, wait till they go to school. Honestly if mom can't stay at home and watch over, it's not worth it.
