Tzintzuntzan, a small town in Michoacán, Mexico, was once the capital of the powerful Purépecha Empire and is known for its rich historical and cultural significance. The town is famous for its archaeological site, Las Yácatas, featuring unique semi-circular pyramids that highlight its pre-Columbian heritage. During the colonial period, Tzintzuntzan played a pivotal role under the influence of Vasco de Quiroga, who established important religious and educational institutions there. Today, it is celebrated for its traditional crafts, including pottery and straw weaving, and for its vibrant Day of the Dead celebrations, attracting visitors interested in exploring both its ancient roots and enduring cultural traditions. Great video, Bill Dallas Lewis!
