@@sugarsore Half a dozen or a dozen people are sitting together in a social situation such as a cafe table or the break room at work - a venue or time where the norm is that everyone is equal, and normally conversation would be shared around, and at times break into two or three conversations. But instead, one person (or a pair) is giving their opinions in a confident tone, and everyone else’s attention is mostly focussed on them - and this is not fleeting - and where people have, perhaps quite subtly, arranged themselves so as to facilitate that person addressing anyone/everyone… then you can say they're holding court. Especially when other people’s comments are either questions or are assumed to be addressed to that one person. Especially when nobody interrupts them. Especially when you can tell that it would be felt as rude for a subset of them to branch off into a different conversation for a bit, even though this is the norm in a group of more than three.

So he must have had a charismatic personality to inspire people to believe he was the messiah who would overthrow the Romans. @@sugarsore Talking to an audience (informal audience)

Especially when you can tell that it would be felt as rude for a subset of them to branch off into a different conversation for a bit, even though this is the norm in a group of more than three.

The late Magnus Magnuson did a documentary years ago and said the Roman wanted poster described him as short, stooped and very dark skinned. So he must have had a charismatic personality to inspire people to believe he was the messiah who would overthrow the Romans. Of course it turned out that, like so many others who made the claim, he wasnt the Jewish messiah but his name was latinised and used to create a relugion which would persecute his people ever after.
