I don't think those few shots would be enough to completely destroy all the engines. If it were to be recovered by the Chinese they would still be able to learn a lot of information
Simply having an engine would tell them what was made, it wouldn't tell them how to make it. There would have to be a lot of reverse engineering and whilst it might help SpaceX are developing the Raptor so fast that those engines are already out of date.
I'd say it's very unlikely that aircraft had any weapons on it. It`s a civilian company (Ravn Aerospace) operating a jet trainer. The BAE Hawk 67 is capable of firing weapons, but they rarely do and somehow I doubt a private company would have access to such systems even when they work closely with the USAirForce
I hope they do recover it for security sake. I'm sure the Chinese would love to have 33 Rapors even if they are ver 2. We don't want that to happen. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff Bezos isn't hovering around trying to pickup an engine or two. :-)
SpaceX needed to sink the booster so it didn't float into shipping lanes for obvious reasons. Also if it landed within US territorial waters they want it to stay inside so foreign countries wouldn't have a direct shot at recovery (they would need to hire a US firm to do it for them).
What happens to starship that landed in Indian Ocean. How fast they recover that thing if they do so? Isnt Chinese more interested in that thing at Indian Ocean?
Isn’t the area where the booster landed considered international waters? If it’s international Waters, doesn’t that mean that anyone could go out there and salvage the booster? Maybe China or blue origin salvage it and reversed engineer it? Could that be the real reason why Elon Musk spends the extra money to salvage The booster? Just wondering out loud is all.
Its prabably still in the US exclusive economic zone, and since its still SpaceX property it would not be legitimate salvage, but espianage would not be out of the realm of posibility.
I honestly think Elon Musk's XAI312x is the safest bet for long term hold, and will survive out of every other altcoins. It will get adopted in US, Ecuador, Asia, starting from Japan, and slowly spread out and gain. This is a winning coin, apart from all the technical greatness.
It's been the plan to sink the booster, if necessary, by shooting it, right from the first gulf landing. I'm not sure it's a surprise to anyone that has been following along since IFT-1.
If they sent a plane out to sink it then that method probably made the booster Swiss cheese! It's unlikely the plane just went out to give the booster a light tickle or a strong talking to lol
If the solid fuel rocket boosters are so powerful and provide 75% of the thrust it lift off for Artemis. Then if we want to have a non-reusable falcon heavier even starship maybe we should consider strapping some boozers on there to really go for it. Set a record with falcon 9 and some boosters.
Your not allowed to knowing leave a floating object that can cause shipping disasters in the water - u can if at least tethering it to the sea bed and marking it with beacon and updating the local QHM - so prototype or not - it could not just float about - FUN way to get rid of it and faster and cheaper than sending a ship and crew
Well that made no sence. Civilian company hired to fire at another civilian companys booster in the water in US waters? Never Goint To Happen. And that Trainer AC is not even equipt with either type of munition! Especialy that particular aircraft. Not going to say it is imposable but highly unlikly to have a civilian ownened test aircraft equipt with military hardware for use on civilian owned rocket booster. At the end of the day never going to be approved for use in that manner period. A boat would make a better platform to shoot from anyway. Not like that would happen either. The Booster finaly took on water over time and finaly sank on it's own. THis was Dumb!
Assuming it was a Hawk Mk 67, it very well could have had the 30mm centerline gun pod. One image showed South Korean tail markings. ROKAF has not operated a Hawk in over 10 years. I doubt it was "shot down". Would have been much easier to approach it from a boat. There was already one nearby, given the video. Civilians wouldn't have access to 30mm ammunition anyway.
Wow one test gone wrong how many did NASA Have and how many astronauts did NASA lose not much room to talk at least space x hasn’t lost any one end had to rescue some 😊

What IS HOA KY is, why do they need solid rocket boosters as propulsion, when they can just use Musk's new Mass Suppression - Neutral Boson Creation network that he is acquiring ? Exactly. In the navy, we once sank a hulk at the request of the Coast Guard

Click Bait just lies like somany others Ever heard of Flight Termation Charge. Tis site is now junk .
RAVN Aerospace operates the Hawk Mk.67 out of RAF Lakenheath. They were most likely the ones contracted by SpaceX to sink the booster if necessary.
I hate your video lead! SpaceX did not SHOOT DOWN the booster. It was already down. This kind of click bait is bullshit. I vote a down on this video.

Literally a AI Chanel. No living being handles anything with this. Unsub and block.
Due to B13 floating in open water (Commercial /Civilian shipping lanes), SpaceX had no choice but to sink B31 by manual means ( artillery).
The booster didn't land it watered.
I do believe we had some visitors at that booster section if you don't pay attention you won't see them
I hope they do recover it for security sake. I'm sure the Chinese would love to have 33 Rapors even if they are ver 2. We don't want that to happen. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff Bezos isn't hovering around trying to pickup an engine or two. :-)
Just because the remains are on the gulf floor doesn't make it "safe" from espionage.
Just said the same in another comment. They should recover it to protect against espionage.
I don't understand why SpaceX does not hover the booster above the water until the fuel is completely spent reducing the recovery risk hazard.
Can't hover.
An "empty" tank still has vapors, which are still explosive. It is never truly empty.
LOL, not even remotely true.@@gteaz

It was a simulated shot in coordination with the US Military

It would be unusual for a Hawk trainer to have an armament.
I wonder how much ITAR factors into the need to make sure the booster sinks rapidly.
As the booster was landing, a scream was heard “he’s got a gun!”
SpaceX needed to sink the booster so it didn't float into shipping lanes for obvious reasons. Also if it landed within US territorial waters they want it to stay inside so foreign countries wouldn't have a direct shot at recovery (they would need to hire a US firm to do it for them).

I solely believe XAI312x will do 20x after its launch price, the hype is high and its community are not relenting.
Why wouldn't you reclaim the booster and engines! If you were to recover ad a tether GPS transponder for finding it for salvage efforts.
They know exactly where it is. They landed it there on purpose.
