Five stars for playing this What went on in the 80’s still rings true today Mac Davis was so good at playing these songs You made my day Time to mix a drink 🍹🥃
The Mac Davis song I like is "Hard to be humble" - I'm not usually into country music but my mom is - which his how I first heard it and it was the first single I ever bought. My sister got so annoyed with me listening to it and singing along she hid it from me for a while.
When he was on top of the charts he had a variety tv show. He started as a song writer. He wrote, Memories and In The Ghetto which Elcis recorded. He was from Lubbock, TX. Glen Campbell his friend broke up his marriage to Sarah Barg.
I was very young (8 I think) when my parents forced me to go to a Mac Davis concert at Knott's berry farm. I wanted to continue riding stuff. I thought I would die at that concert watching the roller coaster running. This would have been probably 1970ish. Dad wrecked our brand new Mustang on the way home that day. Random memories are weird.
"We Are The World" all drunk & High together!! lol The two perfect songs for the Halloween season is Charlie Daniels...Wooly Swamp & Bobby Bare...Marie Laveau!! 😱
Mac was my moms favorite singer along with Charlie Rich aka silver fox. Mac had a show on when I was a kid and the first thing he'd do is go out in the audience and ask for a subject and he would sing on the cuff a quick ditty about whatever subject the person gave him, very talented writer. a lot like Willie Nelson he wrote songs for other singers! excellent video thank you.
A GREAT UA-cam video is "My First Black Cookout"... That would be a GREAT start in World Peace! Everyone eating good, passing the bottle, a Cousin bringing out a Guitar, 2 Aunties Competing over Who makes the best pies and Grandma (and her "Slipper of Death") keeping everyone in line and friendly. And if 2 people have an Argument, NO Wars, just lock the Two Leaders in a room in a room until THEY resolve it without bring the rest of the Family (and the Militaries) into the Drama.
You two are so wonderful. You bring a variety of music from well before my time up to today. I cannot tell you how your loving, positive vibe brightens my day. Thank you both and keep your bright spirits coming.
Here's an idea, gt the lyrics printed out and at your next get together, evryone sings with you. ( try keeping the "getting stoned" part, mostly to the song.
Getting stoned, IMO, just makes you mellow, so if everyone were stoned, we'd all get along. Drinking hard liquor, on the other hand, makes some people MEAN. So, let's all get stoned. 😆
Hank Williams jr has a good one that's true, but funny!! The Coalition!! Charlie Daniel's has a true, but fun song...What This World Needs Is a Few More Rednecks!! Charlie & Jr. both have many hits! Charlie Daniel's does another good one...Simple Man!!
He must have wrote this within the first couple of years of the Reagan administration, I don't believe he would hold that position now , because he was/ is the greatest leader for the freeworld of our generation and did it all with the democrats fighting tooth and nail against everything , just like they did with Trump but not near as much, single handedly ended the cold war with a speech that all of his advisors told him not to do, it wasn't as polarized back then, only had 3 channels to watch on TV
I always thought it funny that he blamed Reganomics,on the inflation caused by Jimmy Carter. I remember sitting with my dad in long lines for a little Gas during Gas rationing brought to us by Jimmy,Carter. Mac Davis was a good song writer but to me he seemed like he would rather be a Hollywood actor, and he had the same ideals as those jaded liberals. Fun song though if you ignore the political jabs.

Asia & BJ, you'll love his big hit "Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me"!!!
Mac so fun, he is a great actor as well singer songwriter. He also wrote "in the ghetto " sung by Elvis. Amazing, most saddest song ever.
He was a great songwriter. He wrote In The Ghetto that Elvis covered.
I love Mac Davis. He was great in concert.
It reminds me of " OH LORD IT'S HARD TO BE HUMBLE"
Me too! lol
That's why he said what he did at the beginning! So similar😁
His best song for me is “Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble”

He wrote the song In the Ghetto that Elvis Presley sings. Great song writer.
I dont think l remember this song. But you can tell Mac Davis wrote it. He was a very talented songwriter!
Mac Davis was the best. He has some awesome songs. He wrote, "In the Ghetto" that Elvis sang.
This song shows that as much as things change, they stay the same.

Mac Davis is the song writer of "IN THE GHETTO " for Elvis to record .
He was a genius at writing songs and had 29 top hits
You should check out "Wildwood Weed". That song is a hoot too.
This song still tells it right.
Great songwriter love YOU'RE MY BESTEST FRIEND. He also wrote Elvis' IN THE GHETTO
He was a great singer and performer as well as songwriter.

This is the best song I’ve ever heard! 💕☮️💯
Yes sir! Playing this one at our local tavern this evening! Love it.
I haven't heard this in so long. I remember when all these people were in the fore front of the news. Nothing changes but the names.
Mac Davis was just a fun guy. He could write some good songs too. He wrote a lot of songs one of which was "In The Ghetto" .
Omg I had that 45! What memories!
We should all just hang out together. That way we can see how similar we really are. Just people after all.
This is so true even today!!
hands down, my favorite reaction video
Song came out in 1982. So has anything really changed over the last 40 years?
Never heard that before, glad I did, and man only the names have changed.
Boy, the names have changed but the message is still the same today.
Mac was a great singer/songwriter.
I just got up. I'll be about 20-30 minutes.
I totally agree with this song.....thanks!!!!
"Put Another Log On the Fire" by Paul (I think) Glasser
Compared to today those were the good old days.
You should listen to "Don't Give Us A Reason" by Hank Williams Jr. It's his perspective on Desert Shield/Storm.
You two slay me. Love you guys
Here's an idea, gt the lyrics printed out and at your next get together, evryone sings with you. ( try keeping the "getting stoned" part, mostly to the song.
Whoever Finds This, I Love You is my favorite Mac Davis song!
Terri Clark THE WORLD NEEDS A DRINK

So nothing has changed. Got it.
Too much and it could be a brawl😂
You should listen to Jim Stafford wildwood weed! Fantastic song.

Haven't heard this song in over 30yrs. The names may have changed, but the situations have not. Could have been written yesterday.
Check out: "Lord It's Hard To Be Humble".

I know my mom loved this song ...she drank to it I'm gonna get stoned
Works for me!
I wonder if this was back when "stoned" meant that you were drunk, and not high.
Check out Mark Chesnutt - "The Lord Loves the Drinkin' Man"
You should react to the movie North Dallas Forty. Mac Davis played the quarterback.

So Reagan was elected in 1980. It's scary that problems with Social Security was a topic even way back then.
🔥🔥🍻🍻
Try- it’s hard to be humble
World never learns. Same crap different year
Reaganomics gave us the deepest tax breaks in history up until Trump came along and out did him.
