I feel like the 102 is better for any kind of mouth sounds and whispers and the NT1 is better for tapping, scratching, finger flutters and other hand sounds
Honestly yes like the 102 didn’t do anything for like her whispering it did more on the props she was using but the NT1 did a whole lot for both and just made it louder and like you can actually hear her breathing but on the 201 it’s quite and softer in a way
Yeah the rode NT1 is known amongst the audiophile community having a traditionally "bright" sound signature favoring the high end of the frequency spectrum, it's pretty good you picked up on that , noice
i think they're both very good mic but i feel the 102 would be better for soft spoken or trigger word asmr while the nt1 would be better for mouths sounds and other more softer noises
Head-fi person here. High fidelity audio through headphones has been my thing for a while now. I own tons of headphones like Beyerdynamic T1, Sennheiser HD800, and Audeze LCD 3. I'm currently listening to this on my favorite cans, the Sony MDR-Z1R. My takeaway is that the 102 is the technically better mic, but the NT1 is better for lazy tingles. The NT1 gives a lot of mid bass, which translates into a punch that's good for tingles. But that mid bass covers some of the sound, making it less accurate and detailed. The 102 shifts the other way. The sound is more natural, flatter, and I can pick out more nuances (increased mouth sounds, less distortion due to breath, hair rubbing against shirt as you move, etc.). This might make it better for relaxing ASMR where the point is to be soothing (as opposed to tingly). But if you want that pop for tingles, you can probably adjust the settings or play around with the audio in post (not my forte). Because of that, it's the more versatile mic, but it might require more work depending on what effect you're going for. Edit: sounds like you're 2 or 3 inches closer on the NT1. Not sure why or how that affects the comparison.
Now thats sum real audiophile stuff man! I am really wondering how can you tell such differences between those mics, i understand that your hardware is amazing but doesn't youtube compress sound too much? I dont have amazing hardware for telling differences like this (using sony xb900n headphones wired), but i tried!
Both are extremely clear. The 102 seems to supress the breath sounds. So I think the 102 will be better for spoken sounds, the NT1 will definitely be better for breath videos. I'm not hugely into talking asmr but The spoken words on the 102 just hit my ears right. I'm a big mouth sounds person and I think because the 102 suppress breathing more it might be better for those videos.

NT1 is an awesome mic, dont get me wrong but the Neuman sounds absolutely cleaner. I reckon they are designed to high end applications such as studio recordings. The imperfection of the NT1 actually helps with some of the triggers, or for me, most of the triggers. But the latter is much more crisp, way less muddy and feels like you have open air recording by it - perfect for music.
I almost feel bad that I would choose the NT1s, seeming as the 102s are so expensive. I think it’s mainly because the NT1s are a lot more sensitive, and that makes good sounds for ASMR, whereas the 102s try to keep the sound more level, which I think could be really useful for other purposes. It’s a slight different tho, and both mics are still absolutely amazing
*Bold of you to assume she isn’t secretly watching you and is hidden in your area whispering in your ears as you think it’s your earbuds, but it’s not* Goodnight =]
The 102 sounds like it has a pop filter in it. It's picking up the sound of your voice when you breathe and not the air itself. For singing or normal narration, that's pretty amazing. It's so crisp and clear. I think actually you'd need to boost the gain on the 102 to get the breathy sound we all love, and it will just skyrocket the mouth sounds into the stratosphere. Love the clarity of the new mics, but yes, gain boost might be necessary to catch some of your signature sounds
I'm not sure if you can hear it well but it clearly shows that the breathing sounds doesn't get processed fully when she breathes into the 102 and that's because it's made to prevent background noises and slight noises and the breathing is one. And no, I'm not having a go at you I just think that you're kinda wrong...
I felt this way at first, but I prefer to listen to asmr without headphones. Then I put them in and it didn’t really sound muffled anymore! I feel like it’s a little more controlled if that makes sense!
The problem with expensive microphones are that they're made for music and vocals as accurately as possible, which might not be ideal for ASMR. Most people love the more bassy blue yeti over a lot of mics.
tbh i actually enjoy the 250 dollar mic more than the 700 dollars cause i think you can hear the mouth sounds during her whispers more than with the 700 dollars mic🤠
Unless they're compared side by side like here, most people wouldn't hear a difference. But you can tell that the 102 is better in definition and quality. Unless there was some post processing done like noise removal, the 102 is also a lot more natural in it's wave profile (sounds less compressed)
Ultimately the NT1 has more gain and loses sound quality but gets “more” of the noises. The 102 sounds much more clear and that’s what makes me tingle. It’s like the resolution of the subtle mouth sounds are smother and less poppy, which I like. It also gets a fuller sound, especially on the low end Kinda like the difference between a tv or monitor that isn’t color accurate but has the colors up super high. It’s really enjoyable but not true to life and kinda overwhelming. That’s the NT1
Definitely like the 102s wayyy better. I always have a tough time with hearing those really rough sounds, makes me not want to watch ASMR! The 102s filter out the loud and unsettling sounds that I hate. So I think they were definitely worth the investment.
Neumanns are actually one of the PREFERRED mics to record Vocals in studios with. She needs to match the gain on both mics. And if the NT1 sounds “breathy” that’s because I don’t think Frivvi has pop shield in front of it. The TLM 102 I believe comes built with one. Still a great video 👍🏼💯 Oh and I vote Neumann! It’s a great microphone. It’s smooth/warm and crisp.
Nah the 102 got clearer sound it’s just the nt1 is louder which makes it sharper and that’s why everyone likes it more and because it picks up more pop sounds the 102 is more for singing I believe and the nt1 is more for asmr
Nt1: More sensibility, more high-end frecuencies, catches more the air, catches fast response sounds. 102: More real, more definition in the sound. For ASMR: NT1. For singing: 102
I liked a lot how the tapping and the soft whispers sound on the 102. It feels aswell like the 102 has more controll while the nt1 gets "saturated" with high sounds more easily. I personally enjoy the 102 more, but they are both amazing! Thanks for the video Frivv 😊 Edit: i forgot to add that the 102 feels like it would be amazing for mouth sounds!
The cheaper one has a deeper sound but the other one is more realistic. I mostly think it’s bcs it picks up like air and breathing sounds more than the new one.
i really like the mihoy minoyman, the rode is great but i think the neumann sounds clearer. i think it's more noticeable when you're really close to the mics, it handles the higher sounds better than the rode. still really tingly on both sides though :) edit: i regret everything, as soon as i hit the send button for the comment, there's teeth tapping...... LMAO still love the mics and the rest of the video though 😂
The 102 basically a sounds like it has a built in limiter... it prevents the loud noises from drowning others out as well as it appears it labels certain types of sounds that are normally picked up as mids on most mids and shifts them to highs.... even though I think for studios the 102 is the mic... I think the NT1 is better for asmr
I'd say the 102 has a more pleasant, softer and perhaps clearer sound... but sadly that doesn't seem to be very tingly at all for me while the NT1 is just constant tingling.
Imho, i am still a fan of the NT1! I think it sounds a little clearer and more sharp, which i like. Also, for the slow breathing, subtle mouth sounds, and the smile sounds, I barely heard anything from the 102 mic.
As someone who likes the slightly harsher and sharper mouth sounds (like the clicks and pops and stuff) that NT1 is giving me soooo many tingles. ALthough the 102 gets all the little subtle sounds that are also super tingly. Love the viddi 😄 Edit: after watching the whole video, I definitely think your investment was worth it Friv.
I like the NT1 best, personally love to hear the small breaths while talking and that´s not audible in the other one :( guess it has better supression but takes out the nice breathy effect while using it for ASMR
I absolutely ADORE the sound quality from the 102. The fidelity is incredible and it really does make it sound like you're right next to me. That's super tingly for me and definitely what I look for in videos. It definitely softens some of the effects that are typically unwanted in recording that are purposeful in ASMR, so things like smile sounds, wind in the mic, that sort of thing are less noticeable, and I could absolutely see the NT1 still being the go-to mic for those kinds of things.
when she licks her lips while wearing lipstick it reminds me of when last year at school i wore my liquid lipstick even though i am a trumpet player AND THE LIPSTICK LASTED THROUGH BAND i was shook edit: i am still watching the video and it is actually lipgloss so my bad but i’m just going to leave this here anyway lol
I really think the 102 are better. The quality they make of the sounds are great. Feel like some will lean towards the rode because they are a lot less stricted with sounds. So it will sound more clear and crisp with mouth sounds, articulated words and just talking in general. With the TLM 102 i feel like with every different trigger it stayed the same loudness. Like with the rodes tapping sounded louder than mouth sounds and they were louder than hair play part. The TLM 102 they all stayed at the same volume so if you were to do like tingles parties or different triggers in one video, we won't have to adjust to the different sounds Anyways imo I really enjoyed the TLM 102 a lot. They're just so much better hope to see more videos with them😊
That's a long comment for very little knowledge about microphones you wrote. Uneven audio has to do with postprocessing unless the preamp adjusts the gain dynamically somehow? Which in this use case NT-1 sounds more true to life and it is technically better. Also NT-1 has self noise level of just 4.5 dBA which is better at recording quiet sounds without introducing "static hiss", TLM 102 has 12 dBA of self noise.

Personally, I prefer the NT1. I like how crisp it is. The 102 almost had a “fullness” (idk what to call it) in my ears that kinda made me want to take my headphones out bc it was too much
I think that’s kinda the point. I feel like rode mics in general are more do mouth sounds and the 102 is more for like whisper ramble type videos. Just a guess though
The 102 is large diaphragmed which means that its able to pick up more lower frequencies which is why it sounds dulled, the clarity sounds more apparent for the NT because it brings higher frequences to the forfront. A trick i learned in school for music recording was if you want the voices to sound more clear, then you can just jack up the high frequency volume
I feel like I’m in the minority here, but, while I really do love both, I definitely like the 102 more! It’s much gentler and more “realistic” if that makes sense.
I don't know if its just me but both microphones sound exactly the same. Ps: im here for the tingles and I always get them no matter what kind of mics they are.
To be honest ik like the NT1 better am not sure if the Neumann TLM 102's have different settings but i feel lke that the NT1 had a clearer sound. lots of love!!
There's a kind of "softness" to the 102 that I really like! The NT1 almost feels too "sharp" in comparison. (Probably not the right terms but it's what came to mind.)
im no pro but the NT1 is way better for close up or unintelligible whispers, while the 102 is better for tapping or mouth sounds. LOve ur vids have a good night or day anyone!!

My personal opinion is that the NT1 gives me more tingles, and the 102 has a softer feel to it. (Less of that pop-rock sound frivvis mouth tends to make but it filters the harsher breaths). I like both, maybe the NT1 for mouth sound videos, and the 102 for other things, or something i’d listen too when i’m studying.

- tapping/scratching
- anything to do with objects
102:
- breathing
- spoken triggers
I'm not sure if you can hear it well but it clearly shows that the breathing sounds doesn't get processed fully when she breathes into the 102 and that's because it's made to prevent background noises and slight noises and the breathing is one. And no, I'm not having a go at you I just think that you're kinda wrong...

I love the NT1. The audio is so crisp and clear and the other one seems muffled or not as clear idk. much love
For me its the other way around
I felt this way at first, but I prefer to listen to asmr without headphones. Then I put them in and it didn’t really sound muffled anymore! I feel like it’s a little more controlled if that makes sense!
The problem with expensive microphones are that they're made for music and vocals as accurately as possible, which might not be ideal for ASMR. Most people love the more bassy blue yeti over a lot of mics.
i agree
that was literally what I was about to comment
i think the 102 is clearer and i like it a lot. but i think i get more tingles from the NT1 when you’re talking
Agreed

The biggest sound difference to me is the 102 picked up the subtle sounds of hair brushing, flutter fingers, and fabric scratching much better
I’m really happy you decided to colour your hair, i really think it makes you seem even brighter than usually, it’s such lovely refreshment.
tbh i actually enjoy the 250 dollar mic more than the 700 dollars cause i think you can hear the mouth sounds during her whispers more than with the 700 dollars mic🤠
Same I like the 270 Mic as well
i like that the 102 doesn’t pick up as rough sounds
Unless they're compared side by side like here, most people wouldn't hear a difference. But you can tell that the 102 is better in definition and quality. Unless there was some post processing done like noise removal, the 102 is also a lot more natural in it's wave profile (sounds less compressed)
I prefer the 102. Especially for close up whispering.
Ultimately the NT1 has more gain and loses sound quality but gets “more” of the noises.
The 102 sounds much more clear and that’s what makes me tingle. It’s like the resolution of the subtle mouth sounds are smother and less poppy, which I like. It also gets a fuller sound, especially on the low end
Kinda like the difference between a tv or monitor that isn’t color accurate but has the colors up super high. It’s really enjoyable but not true to life and kinda overwhelming. That’s the NT1

In the beginning I immediately noticed that the neumann microphone on the right sounded more hq, I really like it
I can't tell because my left ear is always more sensitive but both of them were giving me tingles which I usually NEVER get.
SHHHH!! You're distracting me!
Definitely like the 102s wayyy better. I always have a tough time with hearing those really rough sounds, makes me not want to watch ASMR! The 102s filter out the loud and unsettling sounds that I hate. So I think they were definitely worth the investment.
am i the only one who doesn’t EVER get tingles but just find these videos relaxing and comforting??

Neumanns are actually one of the PREFERRED mics to record Vocals in studios with.
She needs to match the gain on both mics.
And if the NT1 sounds “breathy” that’s because I don’t think Frivvi has pop shield in front of it. The TLM 102 I believe comes built with one.
Still a great video 👍🏼💯
Oh and I vote Neumann! It’s a great microphone. It’s smooth/warm and crisp.
Just putting this out there, your nails, lipstick and hair is on POINT✨✨
you literally have the most relaxing whispers, like it’s crazy💞

Listening to both, you can easily distinguish the difference between sounds, and the 102 is has a more clear pristine sound than the NT1.
Is my right ear somehow deaf or the "102" is quieter than "NT1"…
I also feel like the 102 is quieter and less tingly than NT1 in my opinion
I agree. I prefer the NT1
Well, thank you. I had some issues with my hearing so I thought for the moment it has worsened.
I feel the same the NT1 is better for tingles
She needs to boost the gain in post processing
The NT1 DEFINITELY has a clearer sound
Nah the 102 got clearer sound it’s just the nt1 is louder which makes it sharper and that’s why everyone likes it more and because it picks up more pop sounds the 102 is more for singing I believe and the nt1 is more for asmr
Nt1: More sensibility, more high-end frecuencies, catches more the air, catches fast response sounds.
102: More real, more definition in the sound.
For ASMR: NT1. For singing: 102
Kina sounds like you just saying shit homie

Me: Finding scrap coins to get a small chip bag at the corner store.
Lol this is so accurate
True dat 😩👏🏾
The Neumann mic really made me tingle the most with the subtle sounds that it caught
I liked a lot how the tapping and the soft whispers sound on the 102. It feels aswell like the 102 has more controll while the nt1 gets "saturated" with high sounds more easily. I personally enjoy the 102 more, but they are both amazing! Thanks for the video Frivv 😊
Edit: i forgot to add that the 102 feels like it would be amazing for mouth sounds!
I can't really compare them like this, my left ear always feel better for asmr
My right ear is way more sensitive
Omg saaame!
The cheaper one has a deeper sound but the other one is more realistic. I mostly think it’s bcs it picks up like air and breathing sounds more than the new one.
i really like the mihoy minoyman, the rode is great but i think the neumann sounds clearer. i think it's more noticeable when you're really close to the mics, it handles the higher sounds better than the rode. still really tingly on both sides though :)
edit: i regret everything, as soon as i hit the send button for the comment, there's teeth tapping...... LMAO still love the mics and the rest of the video though 😂
Look at the likes on your comment...
Mehoy minoy
For me, the Neumann sounds a LOT better, every time you go to te right i get so many tingles...
Maybe it could be an ear thing for some reason in other videos where there’s the same mics I only get tingles through my right ear sometimes
same for me!! although i enjoy the rode a lot too
Same!
i feel like this is an asmr bidding session
The 102 is less harsh especially for breathing but the NT1 gives me more tingles.
I feel bad that I prefer the old one after you spent all that money :( but it just gives me more tingles :(
The 102 basically a sounds like it has a built in limiter... it prevents the loud noises from drowning others out as well as it appears it labels certain types of sounds that are normally picked up as mids on most mids and shifts them to highs.... even though I think for studios the 102 is the mic...
I am liking these new videos with different triggers and experimenting with objects!!
*Her videos are always super tingly! She's the best at giving tingles! 🥰*
As someone who likes the slightly harsher and sharper mouth sounds (like the clicks and pops and stuff) that NT1 is giving me soooo many tingles. ALthough the 102 gets all the little subtle sounds that are also super tingly. Love the viddi 😄
Edit: after watching the whole video, I definitely think your investment was worth it Friv.
Two mics are equally effective and great 😄
The reason I get all the tingles is sitting right in the center ❤️
😘 💞
Love ya 🤗
I like the NT1 best, personally love to hear the small breaths while talking and that´s not audible in the other one :( guess it has better supression but takes out the nice breathy effect while using it for ASMR
is no one gonna talk abt how her lipstick is like perfectly applied-
I absolutely ADORE the sound quality from the 102. The fidelity is incredible and it really does make it sound like you're right next to me. That's super tingly for me and definitely what I look for in videos. It definitely softens some of the effects that are typically unwanted in recording that are purposeful in ASMR, so things like smile sounds, wind in the mic, that sort of thing are less noticeable, and I could absolutely see the NT1 still being the go-to mic for those kinds of things.
when she licks her lips while wearing lipstick it reminds me of when last year at school i wore my liquid lipstick even though i am a trumpet player AND THE LIPSTICK LASTED THROUGH BAND i was shook
edit: i am still watching the video and it is actually lipgloss so my bad but i’m just going to leave this here anyway lol
I guess luck was on your side when you were playing the trumpet... teach me your ways
#1 reason i dont wear lipstick to school lol
I really think the 102 are better. The quality they make of the sounds are great. Feel like some will lean towards the rode because they are a lot less stricted with sounds. So it will sound more clear and crisp with mouth sounds, articulated words and just talking in general.
With the TLM 102 i feel like with every different trigger it stayed the same loudness. Like with the rodes tapping sounded louder than mouth sounds and they were louder than hair play part. The TLM 102 they all stayed at the same volume so if you were to do like tingles parties or different triggers in one video, we won't have to adjust to the different sounds
Anyways imo I really enjoyed the TLM 102 a lot. They're just so much better hope to see more videos with them😊
How did you comment this 11 hours ago
@@ericawhite2830 lol I thought the same!
@@ericawhite2830 member most likely
That's a long comment for very little knowledge about microphones you wrote. Uneven audio has to do with postprocessing unless the preamp adjusts the gain dynamically somehow? Which in this use case NT-1 sounds more true to life and it is technically better. Also NT-1 has self noise level of just 4.5 dBA which is better at recording quiet sounds without introducing "static hiss", TLM 102 has 12 dBA of self noise.

5:00 makes me really want a video with super light triggers and lots of deep breaths
Personally, I prefer the NT1. I like how crisp it is. The 102 almost had a “fullness” (idk what to call it) in my ears that kinda made me want to take my headphones out bc it was too much
The 102 sounds dulled for some reason. The clarity is much better on the NT for me.
Same!
I've never clicked so fast

i like the nt1 for trigger words cause it picks up the crisp in them which is why they’re trigger words in the first place
I feel like I’m in the minority here, but, while I really do love both, I definitely like the 102 more! It’s much gentler and more “realistic” if that makes sense.
I always get happy when I see that you've uploaded.
They are both really good, I even can’t notice the difference 🥰
Both mics are kind of identical... Loved the book scratching and lid sounds!
102 definitely sounds clearer and more crisp, but it lacks a certain "warmth" or organic feeling that I get from the NT1.
I personally like the Rode mic more because it feels more loud, warm, and sensitive, which is typically the audio type that gives me more tingles
There's a kind of "softness" to the 102 that I really like! The NT1 almost feels too "sharp" in comparison. (Probably not the right terms but it's what came to mind.)
102 honestly hits different with up close whispers, I really like it uwu
I get a more up-close, breather vibe with the NT1 and a more focused sound vibe with the 102, both good depending on what video you do!
im no pro but the NT1 is way better for close up or unintelligible whispers, while the 102 is better for tapping or mouth sounds. LOve ur vids have a good night or day anyone!!
I’m seeing everyone put their favorite mic but I’m not seeing any of their favorite parts of the video- time stamps 😭💔
Btw I prefer the new one ✌️🥺❤️ lol
Is it 2 am and I’m back like 8 hours again after this was posted because I cannot fall asleep. Yes. And did I like my own comment. Also yes
i like that the 102 reduces the “punch” in the sounds so that it isn’t as loud and brutal, if that makes sense haha
i really like the 102!! they block out the harsh breathing sounds and sound super crisp and tingley
