The Untold Origin of New Hyrule (Zelda Theory)

  • The parallel world of The Ocean King from Phantom Hourglass can get confusing when connecting the lore with Spirit Tracks. Especially when we consider how Linebeck and the people of what became New Hyrule got engine technology, making it a mystery to the Zelda series... could someone have brought it... maybe Sheikah?

@@Zeldom there’s a lot of great things about the ds zelda games Linebeck and Ciela are incredibly fun characters, and if you removed the time mechanic and only visited the Temple of the Ocean king once it would be hailed as one of the best temples in the Zelda series it’s puzzle designs were brilliant and had something I really wanted to see in BotW puzzles with multiple solutions so that it doesn’t feel quite so much like the item/ability is just a key placed there by the devs (seriously why is there a leaf blower in the middle of the Laynayru mining facility) but instead a convenient tool that makes solving the puzzle easier but it wouldn’t be outright necessary for completion it makes the world feel a little more real and now onwards to Spirit Tracks where to start how about the music the music top tier from the overworld theme all the way to the best final boss theme in the entire series, the overworld is very creative with bosses and reasons to find each station and many have very creative puzzles in each station, and the relationship between Link and Zelda is the second best relationship we’ve seen with those two only slightly trailing behind Skyward Sword (fight me), the characters are still very fun Cole and Byrne are fun characters the ds games more than any other deserve hd remakes

Interesting. Each game has significant changes in each region so interpretations can actually vary depending on what version were talking about. It's nearly impossible to do research for every version for every theory, but I try to look into the japanese version when I can since that usually has the original meaning without anything lost to translation, but since I'm not literate in Japanese I can only use other people's accurate hand-written translations. And there's not many of those :(

    • @Chris-gx1ei

This German interpretation even made me think that the Locomo Sword could be a second Master-Sword since both weapons would have been created by "Gods" but then I watched the English version and them I said to myself:

There are almost always ways between these parallel worlds though. It's just possible to travel between them. Look at the other examples:
    - the sacred realm has multiple entrances, the most popular one(s) being the one in the Temple of Time and the one sealed in the imprisoning war.
    - the Dark Realm in ST has an entrance you use, found by the compass of light.
    - the Twilight Realm has the mirror of twilight.
    - Termina is accessible back and forth from the entrance we see, we know Skullkid was going back and forth before he got Majora's Mask because of the tale Anju's Grandmother tells us.
    - Lorule was accessible from the crack in it's sacred realm.
Etc. There's more than just one or two instances of precedence for that magical entrances exist for these dimensions.

for years now i have been a fan of spirit tracks and have theorized about nearly everything this land offers, and i have to very much disagree with these points of lokomo technology being sheikah technology. there is a striking resemble between old and new hyrule in terms of religion, though the sole cause is from answering who the spirits of good/gods are. there is a strong parallel between hylia and thesr spirits as they both sealed their respective demon kings beneath the earth, both resembling one another with malladus losing his true appearance as he feeds off of the demon train to replace his dwindling power as he was not resurrected properly, before being exorcised. malladus is a spirit lacking a body, while demise is actually a body without a spirit as he requires zelda/hylia's soul for his own resurrection. the imprisoned has a lack of emphasis on the eyes unlike malladus as they represent the soul, though looking at demise's eye color it follows malladus's. there is a likely chance these two were the same entity and were split by hylia but what about proof of hylia being a spirit of good?
the most obvious would be how hylia's blood is referred to as blood of the spirits, being the reason why her body was required for malladus's resurrection. the second does lightly touch on the belief of the tetraforce, though the force used to represent the spirits like the ones present in the four temples are the only of their kind that are upside down, granting them great significance. hylia does seem to have a deep connection with technology, specifically with the ancient robots of lanayru, having this varient of steam technology not be out of the ordinary. this technology is not sheikah but what has grown to be known as lokomo technology, as the lokomo people represent the spirits as they are near-immortal angel-like beings with extreme similarities to hylians such as their ears, which retain the original ability to telepathically communicate with one another. though the original human natives of the land were just that, lacking a connection to old hyrule just like any other humanoid race outside of hyrule.

I had to return to this video after your stream today because it got me thinking: if the Sheikah had built the Tower of Spirits and brought their technology to New Hyrule, then the Lokomo Sword would be an alternate timeline version of the Royal Guard's Sword from BOTW. It's a Sheikah made replica of the Master Sword, but the only difference between the two would be that the Lokomo Sword actually repels evil. Just a cool little idea that popped into my head earlier.

In conclusion, Linebeck did not just show up.

Mm, I’m not sure what to think, honestly, I’ve played a bunch of Spirit Tracks, and from what I remember, New Hyrule is only about a century old, and sure, there were already people there, and the Lokomo’s; but there aren’t really much of anything that I’d see resembling Sheikah materials, as well as a lot of the structures of the temples being *very* ancient.
This coupled with there being tracks in the Dark Realm make it seem more likely that trains in some way are a product of the Spirits, and because good and evil are wholly meshed and intrinsically linked, the demons would also have this, shown with the varying evil trains and such.
Spirits also seem to have a hefty power over life and death, seeing as Anjean summoned the fragments of Byrne’s soul after he got poofed.
As for the motifs of the pedestals holding the Force Gems in the temples and the Bow of Light, it seems much more resembling of a train turntable you’d see at a location like a railyard, where you’d rotate the train onto a different track by spinning it, such as what’s shown on the ground floor of the Tower of Spirits

Spirit Tracks takes place around two centuries from Ocarina of Time (Wind Waker is confirmed to take place around a century after, Spirit Tracks is confirmed to take place around a century after that) so it's absolutely possible that it was settled by survivors from Old Hyrule far before the establishment of the New Kingdom of Hyrule. We know that the Spirits of Good are deities, they are described as living in the heavens in the prologue to Spirit Tracks, and in the Japanese translation they are specifically named "The Gods of Light." My belief is that the Gods of Light/Spirits of Good were created by the Golden Goddesses to serve the same fuction as the Goddess Hylia when she was created and tasked to rule and defend the Goddess's Creation of Hyrule's World and the Triforce for thousands of years during the Era of the Goddess, thousands of years before Skyward Sword. The Goddesses likely could see that a Demon King would rise in the future to seek Power, as others had before (Demise, Vaati(?), Bellum(?), Ganon) in this newly settled land. The Spirits of Good were tasked with defending the Land that would become New Hyrule and the Life Force. The Triforce's current state is relevant here, as by the end of Wind Waker, the Triforce is once again split into three pieces, Courage going to Link, Wisdom to Zelda, and Power either returning to the Sacred Realm (à la A Link Between Worlds ending) or, possibly, still being with the petrified corpse of Ganondorf at the bottom of the Great Sea. Thus taking the Triforce out of the game so to speak, likely to be untouched for the rest of the Adult Timeline (considering how the last few times the Triforce was unified, it created the Dark World, and split the Timeline, which I believe the Goddesses know, and then sunk Old Hyrule for good). This means that the most powerful magical force in the Adult Timeline post-Wind Waker would be the Force Gems themselves. It could be assumed that Force Gems are an extention of Life Force and therefore this would explain why Malladus waged his war on New Hyrule in the first place centuries before, as he slaughtered living beings, he stole their Life Force, thus gaining in power, the Spirits of Good came down from Heaven and waged war on Malladus, banishing him for a time, however, they drained so much of their power all the energy they had left was used to create the Spirit Tracks to bind him and likely in creating the Lokomos as mortal incarnations (à la, Princess Zelda, Oracle of Seasons Din, Oracle of Ages Nayru) to look over the land and defend the Spirit Tracks, much as Zelda of Skyloft was born as an incarnation as the Goddess Hylia while she healed from her fight with Demise. The Spirit Train technology was gifted to the natives of New Hyrule so that one day a hero could use them to defeat the Demon King. I agree that Linebeck could absolutely be a native to the continent of New Hyrule, likely Gazpacho could be as well. Another thing I wonder about is the Mountain Goddess of the Gorons, seems odd for such a macho culture to worship a Mountain Goddess who is female, I wonder if it's inspired from the Hawaiian Goddess Pele, it also could signal that perhaps the Continent of New Hyrule was created via another Goddess we don't see, a Volcano Goddess separate from the Spirits of Good who existed to mold and shape the land using the Volcano found in the Fire Realm.

I feel li'le this theory goes well with the theory that the Tower of the Gods was created by the Sheikah. And, if you think about it, even the relatively rudimentary technology of the Shadow Temple, was quite impressive, with its spinning scythes being perpetual in movement, and self-raising/dropping guillotines.
What I'm getting at is that the Sheika always seemed on the up and up with technology, and force would make for a good, seemingly endless power source for all their tech.

No, the locomos are a very seperate race from the sheikahs, this is their symbol on the train and everything. Not everything needs to be sheikahs related and besides, it is BotW that introduced the strange (for me) concept of sheikahs equals technology when in every other titles since OoT was sheikahs were magic users, specialized in shadow magic and artifacts such as the Lens of truth.

Iirc, the windfish as a species *can* make dream individuals real under certain scenarios.
However, iirc, there are lines that imply Linebeck was always from outside the dream world- and its worth noting that for Zelda something being a dream doesn't mean it isn't real.
That said, it isn't really surprising that people would end up in 'different lands' when Hyrule was flooded- for all that its portrayed as contained to Hyrule, there's too many outlets that would result in water rushing out as the Goddess(es) tried to flood it.

  • @VictorJulioHurtado

Interesting video! For the Sheikah, I don't think there's enough evidence in-game to support this. However, the concept art for the map shows there were plans to add them back. Right behind fire mountain, we see a location labeled as the Hidden Village.
As for the Parallele Worlds, I think the games imply that Old Hyrule, the world of the ocean king, and new Hyrule are separate worlds connected by the sea in a similar fashion as termina. The only difference is that it's the Open Sea that connects them, so technically, you could accidentally sail into one of these realms and not know it. I eo think that NH is closer to the WotOK than old Hyrule.

My only argument is that I think it is highly presumptuous to assume that spirits or any other celestial beings are incapable of or unwilling to use technology. I see no reason as to why technology cannot be used in tandem with force, magic, or antyhing else supernatural in nature. I think that magic and technology being two entirely separate forces in fiction is a rather short-sighted trope, and I can't think of a reason they couldn't be either united or one in the same in some universes. I think the idea is rather interesting, to be honest, and I think it would be cool to see something like this done. I would also say that the Sheikah technology is itself very like to magic, or at the very least approaching that point. There is also the fact that Sheikah do use magic. Anyway, that's a tangent. I really do like this theory and see it as pretty plausible. Well done!

I hate to say it but.... Lokomo technology and Sheikah technology don't seem like they're connected-
And there have been multiple mirror sheilds and other versions of magic items so- it could very well be a different bow of light also...
Don't get me wrong its interesting to think about but the adult timeline just seems like things were actually progressing to modern technology slowly, but breath of the wilds technology is still very different and-
A sheikah technology spirit train would likely be a lot different...

I will say this J love this theory except the only people still alive In the great sea who knew about hyrule was link and tetra also linebacker had a person he knew the entire game which was Jolene if I remember correctly going by this we can assume that linebacker was hunting for treasure in the ocean kings dream also if Jolene was there with linebacker it almost confirms that the treasure he stole from Jolene was in that dream meaning lineback was apart of the dream. I believe that after links adventure he got the idea to make engines which led him to make the first ever train in the great sea or new hyrule also tetra and link must have created new hyrule because they were the only people who new what the hyrule was

I wonder why you seem concerned with definitions of words except the word technology. Who are the inventors of the spirit tracks?
Plus the whole continuity/timeline concept was not started by the devs. It was started by the fans and forced upon the series. I feel this was the worst thing ever strike against the zelda franchise. I have always liked the creativity of the zelda series and holding it down to a timeline or any kind of continuity imo is just negative in every way.
