House of Leaves is... interesting. Can't say I *thoroughly* enjoy it but it is well worth seeing Danielewski experiment with formatting, structure, and genre. There truly is no other book I've ever read quite like it. I like that you can kinda interact with it too and there are indeed some sections that are creepy!
If you want to read some detective novels that don't err on the side of predictable, then Agatha Christie is for you to discover (if you haven't yet). I know there are a lot of movies and wonderful series made based on her novels, but she was very witty and extremely good judge of human nature and character, which doesn't always transfer on film, so people miss out when they just watch the series and don't read her books. I would say her novels also have the "autumnal feel".
Thank you for the recommendation! I have always wanted to read her novels- particularly "And Then There Were None". This has given me incentive to boost this to the top of the list 😊
House of Leaves is haunted there's a few distinct different voices, so you may like Zampano's essay on The Navidson Record (most of the text of the book) much more than Johnny Truant's debauched life.
@@meg-jones I do! My favorite spooku writet is Neil Gaiman. I love his middle grades like Coraline or The Graveyard Book! I also just finished Wildood Dancing, it was a magical read! It gave me this fantasy, cozy magical vibes :)
@@AdrianasWonderland Coraline is one of my fave movies! I've been wanting to read one of his books for a while and I've heard the graveyard book is amazing!
