I have done several hours on both and one thing that many reviewers don’t mention but is worth mentioning - for out of box durability, this Traxxas is far superior. Both are very fun and crawl nicely, but within hours, my FMS rear driveshaft broke, followed by the front differential. After replacing those, the transmission was next. Then the rear differential. This is all just low gear crawling, not bashing. I’d accept this all, if it were a far better crawler, but it just isn’t - they are pretty equivalent. The FMS is more detailed and two gears is kinda handy but it comes at the downside of being a much more fragile rig. In the time I’ve replaced and upgraded nearly everything on the FMS (out of necessity), nothing on the Traxxas has broken except a side mirror. As you can imagine, the Traxxas gets probably twice as much use while the FMS is needing parts.
people keep getting on me when I say the same thing. The TRX4m also runs and feels a little more refined. I still like both since I haven't managed to break the FMS but the TRX4m has had a front driveshaft snap and servo gear stripped. (I have used it more and it's running 3s brushless now so I'm not mad at it.)
I ordered my fmc18 only a week ago. The first things I’m gonna do are rear bumper cut, cut the 4 poster off the bull bar so it’s a flat bull bar, unplug the blinkers, and unplug the roof spotlights because I only want proper low beam
Great video & looking to get my first crawler and narrowed it down to these 2 & the Axial SCX24 Question: can the the FMS be modded to a single speed? I don’t like the idea of a servo to switch gears. Sounds like something that can break down the road. Thanks
Not sure if the HobbyPlus single speed will fit but I'd look into that. You can always just leave it in the gear you want with the servo unplugged. Axial scx24 has tins of parts support and mods available so thats also a plus.
Awesome video! Very nice herd of 1/18th Scale Rigs in your stable. The modded TRX4M was super smooth. I have a few other FMS Rigs and just ordered the FCX18 LC80. What did you make your little scale rocks out of?
Fms blows the trx4m outta the water.. comparing a modded truck to a stock truck isnt a fair comparison.. have fun changing your gears yhe slow way.. never buying a traxxxas again..
I like them all! The TRX4m is just so smooth and just runs more refined in my opinion. Took both out yesterday for a crawl sesh and enjoyed both. It's all preference, you want a 2 speed or a single speed rig, you want portals or straight axle. all fun trucks.
I like my Traxxas better also idk what all hate is on Trx4m I think 🤔 yeah portals and 2 speed it be over Traxxas has the money resources to come out next level mini mini crawlers have become bigger than regular ones almost idk 😐 I have both I use mini more because inside easy make tracks obstacles anyways nice bronco
I have a trx4m defender, fcx18 lc80 and fcx24 k10 blazer. All 3 are fully modded. before and after mods i rank them; fcx18>trx4m>fcx24. Torque twist is the trx4m's downfall imo

@@RunThatRC Thank you 👍
Sorry, I am late to the party. You did a very thorough review and test. Great job. I assume the rocks are 3D printed. Where did you get them?

@@Jay-ws7tvyou heard it right
Whats the white bronco in the background next to the van.
FCX24 K5 Blazer
Great vídeo and nice 1/18 garage
I thought u were gonna compare the hb rock van or the unimog and the fcx24 k5 overall
I will be comparing the rock van and the fcx18 soon.

I just put portals and a Land Cruiser injora ir40 body and the performance is even better!
Nice job
Thanks!
15 for low gears!? bro where I am they're just 5 dollars. you can get a complete drop in transmission with the gears to swap them faster
Ktory obiektywnie jest najlepszy?
Can you put the fcx18 beside wpl c54
Check out this video the RocHobby Katana is the same body as the fcx18. Around 10min mark. ua-cam.com/video/y7gnD6Vz7ns/v-deo.htmlsi=9BHGfgBM9j7zpCKI

Bad camera angle on that terrain test.
That whine tho from the trx4m is definitely primitive like the all bushing an horrible steering angle
