Of course he's calm. With his experience, he's seen most situations before so there are few surprises out there. One thing I notice frequently is how Rory walks his rig up the slope slowly, evenly and doesn't race the engine and smoke his tires. It doesn't hurt that when he's in Trail Mater he has gobs of torque at hand and takes on most of the trails at little more than an idle. It ain't subtle and it ain't "thrifty" but that 454 can definitely get the job done!
@@alexpat2502 I have followed his channel since he started it. My comment was just stating the obvious, Trail Mater is a Chevy square body wrecker, this is his Jeep Wrangler/buggy.
He did a (gentle) roll-on-its-side with the buggy in Sand Hollow earlier this year, documented by Fab Rats in their video titled: “Oops! This trail might prove too be too much …”
@@aphextwin5712 There's one video where he literally puts it on it's cage while driving up-and-over the corner of a sea container next to a mound of dirt and drives right into it and back onto it's wheels again slicker than s........ well you know what I mean. 💁♂️
Kudos to the cameraman for keeping the camera rolling. When something happens a lot of people shoot the ground by mistake so they can look with their eyes instead of keeping the camera rolling.
It's good to hear people asking if a vehicle's in Parker and gear before it gets put upright again. These days cause I don't know how many vehicles I've seen go rolling after they landed on their wheels
Reminds me on one ski-jumper I knew years ago. He said after a crash or failed jump during training and nothing is broken on your body the best thing to do is head right up again for the next training-jump to get the failure out of your mind.... I heard the same is true for riding horses...
This is like back in the 80's for me , running the salinas ca river , on a Saturday night. A bunch of trucks, and a bonfire at the river, not all 4x4's, and someone would brake a truck, or do a rollover, or get stuck. We'd all recover our own friends truck. While ducking the county's sheriffs deputies, because none of us wanted a ticket for trespassing on county land. Good times. No harms, no fouls . Just friends having fun.
Everything he drives seems to be as rough as a bears behind, yet performs incredibly well compared to other shiny new looking rigs. It seems to be function over form.
I am diggin' the Mail Jeep. Very creative. I read an article years ago when they were being replaced by the Grumman LLVs which said that, although they were Rear Wheel Drive, the Postal Jeeps did have a limited-slip differential which made them better than many stock pickups, etc. Because there was nothing special, they were easily upgradeable to 4wd.
That is nonsense they were 2.5l iron duke with a powerglide. you would need everthing from a actual 4wd that you might as well just use the donor! or body swap
I swear he's fearless. Always a great addition to any video! the Postal Jeeps did have a limited-slip differential which made them better than many stock pickups, etc. Because there was nothing special, they were easily upgradeable to 4wd
Just watched your video regaling the assets of the tow truck and the question and answer. To you you're the only one that can do what you do. I'm amazed at what you are able to do and how you work under pressure. And to the guy that gives you a bad time about the 'ums' he can suck eggs...just keep doing what you do
Put a xj fire out one time with a a cooler full of mini Coronas, got the jeep in a bind the transmission overflow got slid up on the exhaust and it cause a fire, we busted the bottles over the valve cover to put the fire out, maiden voyage in that jeep too, scary situation
yuppers.. that's rory.. let's others recover him.. & KEEPS ON CREEPIN.. game on.. fire or not.. it's not the first nor last time.. 😆 🤣 😂 rory the type to punch the ox & yell at it "let's get back to work...
Totally my fault for not replacing the fire extinguisher in my buggy after I used it on someone else's fire. Luckily it was a small fire easily managed with a sweet tea, and Tim was quick with his just in case. You can bet there is a new one in the buggy now.
He rolled over on a RecoveryTeam's video a couple days ago. That Jeep that rolled him back over has something about it, that really makes it look tough.
Rory is on his side AND on fire.......and he's the calmest one there. He's the MAN.
Of course he's calm. With his experience, he's seen most situations before so there are few surprises out there. It only rolled because it didnt have Duellies on it!
Rory is a hell of a driver!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Not a Trail Mater to be found in this video, but I did see Rory in his rock crawling buggy.
Considering his UA-cam channel is called Trail Mater i'm sure he's referring to that.
@@alexpat2502
I have followed his channel since he started it. My comment was just stating the obvious, Trail Mater is a Chevy square body wrecker, this is his Jeep Wrangler/buggy.
this comment saved me 6 minutes
He literally states his name because he is mostly known as "aka" trail mater. People take things to serious.. this title fits perfect..
Go back and reread the title. Lol.
Beer extinguisher to the rescue. Nice postal jeep.
The postal jeep is a true rhd postal jeep with a few mods😂🤣I met him and his wife on Moab rim on Sunday. Awesome folks from down Texas way.
I'm a fan of that Postal Jeep. Cool build.
I have an extra top if they ever need it
Only Utah beer can put out a fire 🔥 😂
CLASSIC!!! Rory BLOWS IT OUT with a huff and a puff....... Hilarious
That's not THE Trailmater,
If he had His Trailmater he could have done that hill with a Jeep on the tow with missing front axle...
😂🤘
I agree
That's the Scrambler, I believe.
Rory is the MAN. Roll over. Catch Fire. Stays calm. Drives Out. Overcome. Adapt. Move Forward. Good video.
Glad Rory and his Buggy are OK! MAN! I've seen him climb some crazy places in that buggy, but I've NEVER seen him roll over! Thanks for sharing!

Rory is such a cool guy, and a super nice guy as well.
It's good to hear people asking if a vehicle's in Parker and gear before it gets put upright again.
These days cause I don't know how many vehicles I've seen go rolling after they landed on their wheels
Fire extinguisher: a vital piece of safety equipment easily replaced by a cold beer.
Or a sweet tea... Lol.
Rory has got mad driving skills. Dude is a beast
Awesome video. Nice too see Rory having fun.
Sorry for the rollover and happy you are safe Rory.
Dang Rory.. you'd swear those tires were an extension of your natural feet .. tire toes 🤜💥🤛
Rory told me this story better than the video but great video still thanks for posting
awesome rig, took a licking and kept on ticking like the old Timex watches, another testimonial to your abilities
He's stays calm under fire... for real.
At least he did not say "here hold my beer and watch this" Good job Rory!
Reminds me on one ski-jumper I knew years ago. He said after a crash or failed jump during training and nothing is broken on your body the best thing to do is head right up again for the next training-jump to get the failure out of your mind....
I heard the same is true for riding horses...
But not skydiving....
That’s the definition of “ like a boss”!
Even Rory rolls over now and then!
it was the buggy and not the trailmater. That buggy has been on its lid a number of times.
Yep, when he rolled mater it was a little bit more work to get her back on the road... err... trail?
I'm glad you cleaned up the leaking ATF also. Makes for a good example on trail etiquette.

Rory is my hero, not a celebrity, not a politician, not a pro athlete or musician.
Glad everyone is ok..That grin @ 5:10 says it all !!!
Nice recovery, glad it was minor. Sick as always Rory
"he wants to recover recovery guy" :D
I've never seen Rory get the rubber side up either. Nice vid!!

you mean the LS mail jeep? :)
That is nonsense they were 2.5l iron duke with a powerglide. you would need everthing from a actual 4wd that you might as well just use the donor! or body swap
For the record, Trail Mater is the tow truck. Rory is just Rory. :)
Hence why you never go out alone, especially on trails like that.
Epic Rory the legend continues
Cool video. Moab is beautiful country 😁🏴🇺🇸
Lol Rory is more concerned about wasted and spilled beer than fire and a roll over!
Thats RORY a little mishap & gets right back up & never quit
Who rescues the wrecker when the wrecker gets wrecked? Lol. Another great video! PSH definitely has some tricky spots!
That mail Jeep sounds very healthy! Tacoma is sharpe as well!!
No fire extinguishers were harmed in the making of this video!🙃
Glad Rory is OK !! Cool rig its a tank. 💪
A Lot nicer than some of the clunkers driving around here, that guy has a few hours & $ on that one
@Stratos53100 Yes Definitely !!
Not the 1sr time that rig has been on its side and won't be the last. Crawling life!
Glad he's ok
I was checking out that postal jeep a couple of days ago. Cool to see it in the video
Kool Mail Jeep. Best use I've ever seen of that trash car. I thought it had been trail Mater that had flipped on its top again. But no, just the Jeep.
I swear he's fearless. Always a great addition to any video!
the Postal Jeeps did have a limited-slip differential which made them better than many stock pickups, etc. Because there was nothing special, they were easily upgradeable to 4wd
A B (beer) C fire extinguisher. Never knew what the acronym was. Lol.
L.S. Mail is awesome jeep name!! First I was like it's a right hand drive? Then seen the hood... way cool
Every man has an inbuilt fire extinguisher !
This is sad. Gonna miss the mater and Rory. I know Rory will be back in a minute, but not so sure about his amazing hauler.

Wow. A collectors video. 😃
Thats not trail mater, that is rory's buggy. Trail mater is a dually tow truck.
Even when rolling over he's 100x better at this stuff than me. I'll admit it, I don't have the guts to try anything like this.
Nothing a beer won’t fix.
And this reminded me I really need to mount a fire extinguisher in my Jeep!
Dude put the fire out with a beer...lol...
Sweet tea...
All's well that ends well !!!
Not trail mater, that is his other rig
A lot of people not only see his tow truck as Trail Mater, but him as Trail Mater as well
his yt channel name is also trail mater
Settle down now, it's a small fire. 😎
Nice one Rory 👍🏽 👌🏽
Put a xj fire out one time with a a cooler full of mini Coronas, got the jeep in a bind the transmission overflow got slid up on the exhaust and it cause a fire, we busted the bottles over the valve cover to put the fire out, maiden voyage in that jeep too, scary situation
That mail Jeep is rowdy
I like to party….
yuppers.. that's rory.. let's others recover him.. & KEEPS ON CREEPIN.. game on.. fire or not.. it's not the first nor last time.. 😆 🤣 😂
rory the type to punch the ox & yell at it "let's get back to work...
Good people. Not many out on the trails willing to help out these days
Have you been to potato salad hill? It’s like 30 seconds off the road. It’s not even a trail.
they call him-Tater Salad😆😆😆
King of MOAB
Glad to see he was ok... but did Rory try *blowing* on the first when he first went around to it? lol
Well Yea... Half of it went out... Haha
Thx for the vid. - Ken
Great video,
Always cary your fire Extinguisher
If anyone can fix it it’s Rory!
True Rory fashion calm down it’s ok lol
That was ausome glad you are ok
George Breakall, still the king of potato Salad Hill.
What was it that lit on fire?
Just laid it on its side. Nothing to see here. Hahahah
The question is....
Did RORY make the call ...????
Bros with the brewskis for the win
Ai Carramba! El Flippo es El Zippo flambe'!
Even the master falls down
And not a fire extinguisher in sight. Great preparation, guys!
THERE WERE A FEW.... IF YOU WERE ACTUALLY THERE YOU WOULD KNOW THAT
Totally my fault for not replacing the fire extinguisher in my buggy after I used it on someone else's fire. Luckily it was a small fire easily managed with a sweet tea, and Tim was quick with his just in case. You can bet there is a new one in the buggy now.
glad he is ok
Looks like the only thing hurt is his pride. I'm sure that's not his first time knowing Rory.
why did it catch fire?
Roy needs a new name from trailmater to Timex! It takes a lickin and keeps right on ticking!
Trail Mater is a Chevy square body wrecker heavily modified. This was his rock crawling buggy.
What happened to Rory driving "Trail Mater"?
Ouch ! No Harm ? No Foul !
Have to put that on the List for 1 more thing to use Coke Cola for.
He rolled over on a RecoveryTeam's video a couple days ago. That Jeep that rolled him back over has something about it, that really makes it look tough.
whoever has the mail hardtop willys, I have a top just sitting around if ever needed, it needs some work, but it's whole and still has glass in it...
I'm smitten by that Taco.
Go Trail Mater!
Anyone know what caught fire?
Something flammable im thinking 👍😆
^^^he's not wrong. Haha.
Toyota jumps at the opportunity to recover the Jeep since the cameras are rolling... Rory, says "no way," Jeep on Jeep only
I hate potato salad hill, it should be called kiss your transfer case good bye hill. LoL
Not for the “feint of heart” I guess 😂😂
To roll over is part of the fun .
