Badgers are the reason all the hedgehogs have gone. Badgers numbers have soared in parallel with the disappearance of hogs. Badgers are the only animal that can attack and open up a curled up hedgehog because of its lengthy front claws. In rural England badgers are allowed to run amok because the 'glitteratti do-gooders' in the media think they're cute so we're not allowed to cull them. . Hedgehogs were cute too, pity you didn;t get on your moral soapbox about them. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease stop blaming strimmers and traffic, here in rural England its the huge numbers of badgers that have wiped them out.
I dare say your correct in your assumption that badgers do have an input on the decline of numbers - but in their defence - badgers will only consume what is available to them and are rarely seen in the inner towns and cities - so of course we the public have a moral duty to accept that as drivers we are not always as vigilant as we could be when it comes to small wildlife creatures. Yes its not only motorists who are at fault here, as most of our pastures - fields etc have been claimed for housing - factories and industrial companies to accommodate our ever growing population and lifestyles. So let's not cast the blame on creatures that are only feeding on the prey provided by nature and accept responsibility for our own selfish actions. And apart from that - this is only a lighthearted observation of a very astute- talented - and funny lady.
