Surely no spending must relate to the wage structure. An 8 - 10M player might be wanting what £60 / £70k a week? Which means parity will be asked for by existing “star” players - McGregor, Kyogo and sets a new precedent for future signings. So the whole expenditure goes up, potentially by what £300k+ a week? If key players ask for another £30k a week to be on a par with new, big signings - putting the club into a different level of spending… all I can think of for the lack of spending. They had a chance to push on this season and did not. Shame on the board. Very inept thus far. Don't expect anything major happening. What does BR really think. He can't he happy.
Ryan, What an absolutely brilliant analysis 👏 I wholeheartedly agree with You. It's absolutely shocking 😮 What The Hell is going on ? The Board are fools. Ronnie SCOTLAND
It's one thing having the money, how much is spent or how it's being spent is another thing, Brendan Rogers says he wants quality, what kind of quality does he want, players that might help Celtic get to the latter stages of the champions league
Because you haven't a hope. You'd need about 100m worth of new players on 60k a week to even have a sniff of qualification, which would ruin club finances. The club know that Celtic don't belong in the CL, so why spunk money? I think next year when automatic CL qualification is removed, you will see more investment for the more realistic proposition of a decent Europa run. This is likely the last time we see a Scottish club in the CL for a few years, and rightly so.
@@sandersson2813 We don't have to win the UCL but we can compete, if we can get relegates to Europa that works for me but it involves getting points and winning some games. That alone pays for the club, and more than anything in Scotland pays.
@@GordonMcWilliams You can't compete in the CL. You've won a solitary game in 12 attempts. There is no reason to think you can get out of the group based on previous results and a diminishing quality of squad and there's no reason to think that you are capable of getting through next year's qualification either. It would be far better for Celtic to be in Europa, especially as you never spend CL money anyway.
Take take take is all the board are doing and giving nothing back to the supporters. Certainly nothing that will help the club to make any headway in cl. 😡
Correct me if I’m wrong, but did we not spend 6 or 7 odd million on Sutton and Hartson in the O’Neil days? If over twenty years later we are spending less on individual players then, hell, and in comparison to the upward trajectory of financial output of other clubs over the course of time, why are we not behaving even remotely similar. In short, it is, by definition, going backwards (out-with some movement between now an end of August)
That model was unsustainable. The players at that time were on ridiculous money. The club would have been bankrupt if they continued to follow that model.
That’s pretty much my point. That was a bit of a risk. Now we have room to manoeuvre financially and it seems we won’t take what would not be a risk (or at least barely)
Rangers will be thanking their lucky stars we haven't technically spent anything in the transfer market this Summer. I sometimes think the board deliberately want a close title race.
We need Brendan to speak up. The board is definitely letting him down just when he’s getting the team playing really good football. I want him to call a meeting & tell them this is unacceptable. £20 million would get us whatever we need & that’s peanuts compared to the money they raked in. This latest statement of accounts is really rubbing the fans noses in it..🍀
Why not use Mathew Anderson as a back up to Greg T? Use and grow our youth and show the others a path into the 1st team? He looked very strong in the USA tour
Celtic's board see the transfer window as their new champions league...it's their chance to be 'successful' & make fortunes. It is about time we, the supporters, insist on a much better pool of players to pick from
It seems like its starting to become obvious that the players we want for the positions we need filled.the question is why? I would suggest its bevause we refuse to even try and pay somewhere close to competative wages. We knowbwe cant pay 80/90/100k a week but your not getting the quality we want for 30k a week! We MUST increase our max wage cap to circa 50/60k a week otherwsie we are going to have to settle for the dross level of non celtic fan players we currently attract!
In response to you saying it isn’t easy for Celtic to sign quality players Ryan FIVE TRANSFERS CELTIC 🏴 HAVE MISSED OUT ON - 2024/25 Celtic’s recruitment setup is nothing short of shambolic. We continuously hear how difficult it is to do business for quality players in this window, my response? Well how come plenty of other big clubs around Europe manage to make excellent signings on an even smaller budget to Celtic’s? To prove my point, here are FIVE signings that have been made by similar or smaller sized clubs to Celtic that would improve Celtic’s FIRST eleven… (please remember these prices are in EUROS 😳) 🇧🇷 | Marquinhos (Ferencvárosi TC 🇭🇺 ➡️ Spartak Moscow 🇷🇺 - €5M) Marquinhos ticks virtually every box for what I would like to see in a Celtic winger. He’s 24 years-old, explosive, full of flair and trickery, exquisite ball control, very direct and is just a f*cking BALLER. Spartak Moscow have just signed him for an absolute BARGAN fee of €5M! UNBELIEVABLE bit of business from the Russian side! Not only is the fee very much within Celtic’s budget, but his wages are rumoured to be €23,000 p/w (£19,600). To have a fast, tricky and entertaining Brazilian winger at Celtic Park would be absolutely incredible and the fact we could have had one the quality of Marquinhos at such a perfect age all for the price of just over £4M is astonishing. It’s well documented that a new winger is a must for Celtic this summer and to pass up on a winger of Marquinhos’ quality and profile for such a bargain fee is unforgivable. 🇷🇸 | Jan-Carlo Simić (AC Milan 🇮🇹 ➡️ RSC Anderlecht 🇧🇪 - €3M) If Marquinhos for €5M wasn’t already the bargain of the window then it may well be Jan-Carlo Simić. The towering Serbian had first team experience for AC Milan and looked to be a VERY promising young talent in defence for the Rossoneri. He’s hugely powerful, solid in the tackle, reads the game incredibly well and generally plays well beyond his years (only just turned 19 😳). Like the wing position, finding a centre-back partner for Carter-Vickers needs to be one of the priorities for Celtic this summer! I GUARANTEE you Jan-Carlo Simič WALKS into our best eleven despite only being 19 years-old. Anderlecht are going to make outrageous money on Jan-Carlo Simič in a few years and the fact Celtic could have signed him for a measly €3M is soul destroying. Another major miss by our scouting department… 🇷🇺 | Fedor Chalov (CSKA Moscow 🇷🇺 ➡️ PAOK 🇬🇷 - €3M) Brendan Rodgers has said he ideally would like Celtic to sign TWO strikers this summer with Kyogo currently our only recognised natural striker. Fedor Chalov would have been an excellent option for Celtic. He brings that high-level experience we have been looking for having played in the Russian Premier League (higher level than Scotland), Champions League football for CSKA Moscow and Internationally for Russia. Fedor Chalov is currently valued at €11M by Transfermarkt however PAOK have snapped him up from Moscow for a derisory fee of only €3M! Fedor Chalov would without question score goals for Celtic and at only 26 years-old, he was a no-brainer for €3M! 🇵🇹 | Jota Silva (Vitória S.C. 🇵🇹 ➡️ Nottingham Forest 🏴 - €7M) This transfer is arguably the most painful as it’s one that Celtic were very heavily rumoured with in January! Like I said with Marquinhos earlier, Celtic NEED to sign a winger this summer of real quality of can make an impact in the first team with creativity and goals. Jota Silva to Celtic would have got every Celtic fan excited. Jota Silva contributed 11 goals and 5 assist last season for Vitória and was their star man in a very impressive season which saw them finish 5th in Portugal’s top flight last season. Not only is his goal returns record impressive, but he’s been referred to as the Portuguese Jack Grealish due to his flair and exceptional ball control with the ability to get fans off their seats. There was rumours Vitória wanted €15M for their star man in January which put Celtic out of the equation, but to find out he left the club for only €7M is gutting. The fact Celtic likely knew about the player but STILL couldn’t capitalise and at least try to compete at €7M is another damning indictment of our club right now. 🇯🇵 | Ao Tanaka (Fortuna Düsseldorf 🇩🇪 ➡️ ?) This is the unique player in this list because no transfer has officially happened yet. Ao Tanaka was not just a standout performer for Fortuna Düsseldork last season, but a standout performer in the Bundesliga 2. Düsseldorf signed Tanaka for €1M from Kawasaki Frontale (same club Celtic bought Reo Hatate from) in 2022. Since making his move to Europe, Ao Tanaka has been phenomenal. Tanaka’s contract only has 11 months left to run which means he can be signed for FREE on a pre-contract in January, however there has been speculation that Düsseldorf would want €2M for his signature. TWO. MILLION. EUROS. This is another mind-blowing bit of value and every club that can afford to spend €2M on a transfer should be in for Tanaka. This is simply another outrageous deal that Celtic will pass up on!
to be fair RTyan there's been a massive load of making us look way better than we are going on and a lot of it is from the so called youtube media / social media lot. I've actually heard people say Kyogo's had a good preseason and he looks on form, the guys miles off it.So that's him up front alone and 100% departures inc. The new one is Scales playing a good game so now he's in the frame for first name on the team sheet.
It's absolutely shambolic tbh. Fans are being continually taken for a ride. After they publicly apologised after the January window I stupidly thought this summer would be different. Sadly some fans will still be content with this so long as we stay ahead of our city rivals. Rodgers clearly holds a level of ambition that is not shared by the board For me, CB, LB, CDM, RW, ST were and still are the minimums for me this window and we haven't signed any of those yet. We can't go into another euro campaign with scales and Taylor, as well as McGregor protecting the defence. Fine to start elsewhere aye but not as a deep.lying player at that level imo. Scunnered. I dont see things changing.
I’d love us to spend some decent money and try do a bit better in Europe. But I don’t think it will happen. The board will just want to be that wee bit better than the rangers. Thing is long as we win the league each year or the double or even treble then I’m still happy with that. The way we do it at least we won’t ever die like our rivals 🙏
I think the EUROs slowed down a lot of business for clubs around Europe. Also I reckon Celtic are waiting for O’Riley to leave before splashing out. Jamie McGrath from Aberdeen would be a good addition IMO! Glad to see the channel doing well 👏🏼🎥

I don't doubt the board are to blame on this as well but and it is a but. What if the higher quality of player we are targeting just aren't attracted to playing for us. Maybe we are attractive as a stepping stone to some but not as a final destination. Even our own development players and players who have came through the ranks have moved on, fans of the club. Times have moved on big time in football I feel like it's left us behind, we probably missed the boat in the 00s.
Careful Ryan! Big pedro already threatened James Forrest (the celtic blog) to take down an accurate article supported by facts. Unfortunately, he took it down
So so poor from the Celtic board. They treat their fans abhorrently and have no interest in moving forward in the champions league but just to fill their own dodgy pockets. Total disgrace to true fans 😮
Absolutely horrendous recruitment from our club, its like they are going out of their way to make us cannon fodder in the champions league. The way forward for Celtic is Europe ,that's where we can make money,im baffled why the board are standing still. The BIG question is WHY?,,FFS WHY???
The only saving grace is that the team have seemed to gel together really well going off the preseason and our first game, does my tits in tho, we're selling our prospects, players who haven't been given a chance and replacing them with absolutely nobody
Year in year out the board take it for granted that the fans will keep turning up and spending their hard earned cash supporting the team . Maybe it’s time for the fans to make a stand and turn up for the games but stop buying programs kits pies etc .
If they won’t spend money to progress in the champions league, then the fans need to stop buying champions league tickets. I know I won’t be spending £200 on UCL tickets.
If you want quality players it's not about the transfer cost wages for a lot of these players will not be in our wheelhouse until the parent clubs want them away. It was always going to be a waiting game yesterday it's not good but if you want good signings then sometimes we will have to wait well that's my hope
Aye exactly..we're struggling to sign players we already had last season...who the fk is responsible fr scouting new talent n why is it always the same story every transfer window???
a left back who can straight away replace taylor would be good. OGs have been saying it for 2 years 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 greg is an empty shirt when we dont have the ball all the time
The people running our club are taking our money, and simply keeping it. They have everything they need to make massive improvements, but chose not to.
Out with the Postecoglou season x2, this transfer season has been no different to previous seasons. If Postecoglou could get transfers in, what did he say and do differently to Rogers or any other manager, bearing in mind it is the same board. Postecoglou proved we don’t need a head of recruitment, and we can’t just spend on quantity like last season and they were all bad signings. Brendan definitely has the ambition to sign quality players, so the board have to spend, just pay 7m for Adam Idah to begin with, he is definitely worth that, I would say we will probably increase his value after a season or two. Just start paying the money for quality players. Such a wasted opportunity to improve the first team, time is now running out once again. To me it is a lack of ambition, need a big change at the top, that is what the club need to do, someone who will finance the purchase of quality player in a prompt manner.
I think its actually quiet smart from celtic. If you think about this window, not many clubs have money in the bank and need to watch for ffp. That being the case, clubs will lower there players value to get them off the books.
Its sheer incompetence. We need a ST a LCB an LB and a RW. Everyone from your granny down knows that and there's been sod all done Heads have to roll for this, its beyond acceptable now
A mean it’s the same old ae, the board will never change as long as they are in charge which is a shame with so much potential on offer for our club. Will most likely end another manager cycle with afew leagues and cups with 0 progression in Europe just like the ones before. Be happy or sad about that it’s the reality, so buckle up for another 10 years of standing still troops.. hail hail ☘️
Ryan , if your first choices are not available or will not come to Celtic park, how far would you go down your list of players, before you say that they players would not improve our squad, it’s not about how much £ you spend
We need at minimum 6 signings. If we're lucky we get Idah and a shit left back from a backwater league who is "a secret wonderkid" for 450k who'll never be good enough like Oh, Rocki and Lager and will be sold for a little bit of profit after a failed loan move
If they do sell Scales to Bayer Leverkusen there will be a meltdown. Surely we would be better keeping him for another season and then looking for double the rumoured 7 million they have offered
I get the feeling that we sign one player who nobody has heard of just before the window shuts and then we will be hit with a barrow load of excuses from the board. At this rate we will be humiliated in the champions league once more. We should be signing Scott Mctominay from Man utd if we sell O'Riley. The lack of urgency from our board is a slap across the face to us the fans. So far not good enough Celtic FC.😡
It's incredible that we started the season with one known striker. There is absolutely no excuse... There is an arrogance at board level that is not acceptable. They might be the owners but this club was built by the people and they should never forget this. They are just a bunch of freeloaders. When was the last time they personally put their hands in their pocket... It's just a money machine. Even the idea of selling Orielly when he has 3 years left on his contract is shameful
I wake up every morning expecting not to hear any good news when it comes to Celtic and transfers and if we didn't have such a good pre season and didn't start the season the way we did then the board might be in more of a panic mode thank god for us they are a shambles but if things start going right over their and we pick up some injuries then it can be a nervous season so Celtic board get the biscuit tin out and start spending.
I have been patient but if we dont dont do the business very soon that if they dont, will ruin the players, the managers, the supporters and my feckin season, then I am going to be calling fot theirs and Desmonds heads
Absolutely we’re being let down. We’ve BEEN let down and it’s an ongoing issue. I know the way that BR left will leave a sour taste for most of the support, but the reason he left was incredibly justified. This is a man that was trying to bring in the likes of Ivan Toney, John McGinn, etc in order to improve the club and the board has treated him like stairs. Peter Lawwell is no more than a yes-man puppet to Dermot Desmond. Unfortunately the mentality they have is that as long as we’re above Rangers, the standard is met.
Always spending just enough to stay ahead of The Rangers. Forget Europe! The biscuit tin mentally has never left the board!

Don't think we have a director of football or a system in place apparently. Ange got his charges with rapid pace. Now as in January why the delay ?
Aye and he brought some right dross in!!
@@RobertGannon-x4u Agreed but the urgency was there now there is absolutely nothing.
They had a chance to push on this season and did not. Shame on the board. Very inept thus far. Don't expect anything major happening. What does BR really think. He can't he happy.
Board are taking the piss out of everyone they keep raking in money and we’re not adding quality to squad it’s disgusting
Ryan,
What an absolutely brilliant analysis 👏
I wholeheartedly agree with You.
It's absolutely shocking 😮
What The Hell is going on ?
The Board are fools.
Ronnie SCOTLAND
It's one thing having the money, how much is spent or how it's being spent is another thing, Brendan Rogers says he wants quality, what kind of quality does he want, players that might help Celtic get to the latter stages of the champions league
i dont know why we dont even try to prepare for the bloody UCL
The club have 3 weeks now to make things right and fet the fans back on side this could be a massive.
It is about time we, the supporters, insist on a much better pool of players to pick from
Spot on the day, Ryan 🍀
It seems like its starting to become obvious that the players we want for the positions we need filled.the question is why? I would suggest its bevause we refuse to even try and pay somewhere close to competative wages. We knowbwe cant pay 80/90/100k a week but your not getting the quality we want for 30k a week! We MUST increase our max wage cap to circa 50/60k a week otherwsie we are going to have to settle for the dross level of non celtic fan players we currently attract!
In response to you saying it isn’t easy for Celtic to sign quality players Ryan
FIVE TRANSFERS CELTIC 🏴 HAVE MISSED OUT ON - 2024/25
Celtic’s recruitment setup is nothing short of shambolic. We continuously hear how difficult it is to do business for quality players in this window, my response? Well how come plenty of other big clubs around Europe manage to make excellent signings on an even smaller budget to Celtic’s?
To prove my point, here are FIVE signings that have been made by similar or smaller sized clubs to Celtic that would improve Celtic’s FIRST eleven… (please remember these prices are in EUROS 😳)
🇧🇷 | Marquinhos (Ferencvárosi TC 🇭🇺 ➡️ Spartak Moscow 🇷🇺 - €5M)
Marquinhos ticks virtually every box for what I would like to see in a Celtic winger.
🇷🇸 | Jan-Carlo Simić (AC Milan 🇮🇹 ➡️ RSC Anderlecht 🇧🇪 - €3M)
If Marquinhos for €5M wasn’t already the bargain of the window then it may well be Jan-Carlo Simić.
Another major miss by our scouting department…
🇷🇺 | Fedor Chalov (CSKA Moscow 🇷🇺 ➡️ PAOK 🇬🇷 - €3M)
Brendan Rodgers has said he ideally would like Celtic to sign TWO strikers this summer with Kyogo currently our only recognised natural striker.
🇵🇹 ➡️ Nottingham Forest 🏴 - €7M)
This transfer is arguably the most painful as it’s one that Celtic were very heavily rumoured with in January!
🇯🇵 | Ao Tanaka (Fortuna Düsseldorf 🇩🇪 ➡️ ?)
This is the unique player in this list because no transfer has officially happened yet.
Board are taking absolute pis💲 even by their standards.
to be fair RTyan there's been a massive load of making us look way better than we are going on and a lot of it is from the so called youtube media / social media lot. I've actually heard people say Kyogo's had a good preseason and he looks on form, the guys miles off it.So that's him up front alone and 100% departures inc. The new one is Scales playing a good game so now he's in the frame for first name on the team sheet.
Yes we are
It's absolutely shambolic tbh. Fans are being continually taken for a ride. After they publicly apologised after the January window I stupidly thought this summer would be different.
Sadly some fans will still be content with this so long as we stay ahead of our city rivals. Rodgers clearly holds a level of ambition that is not shared by the board
For me, CB, LB, CDM, RW, ST were and still are the minimums for me this window and we haven't signed any of those yet. We can't go into another euro campaign with scales and Taylor, as well as McGregor protecting the defence. Fine to start elsewhere aye but not as a deep.lying player at that level imo.
Scunnered. I dont see things changing.
The board now know that Europe is a coco and wont waste money, chasing a lost cause, financially we can't compete outside Scotland. .
It’s got so bad that twice I’ve dreamt about Adam Idah signing. Wtf is that all about..
Glad to see the channel doing well 👏🏼🎥
Are you serious? Celtics recruitment has been poor for years, the Euros are not a significant factor.
3.26 mins in. you use the Word CHRIST. would you use the name of islams god in this blasphemous way ? I dont think so. please dont do this you have offended me im a christian.
Read the room, mate, my word!
@@chrismckale4939 Oh zip it
@@chrismckale4939it’s not blasphemy though is it. The term “Christ” has evolved into a totally normal expression of exasperation in modern culture. It seems you are stuck living in the past in yer stable, either that or yer taking the piss. Regardless I wish you to have a blessed day 😎
I don't doubt the board are to blame on this as well but and it is a but.
2030 and we keep getting record profits yet we cannot spend anything in the market I don’t understand any of that it’s unacceptable
Well said Ryan 💯 agree but with some expletives from me HH
Agree with you 100%
Careful Ryan! Big pedro already threatened James Forrest (the celtic blog) to take down an accurate article supported by facts. Unfortunately, he took it down
Similar same statement came from the board in July 2023. So unfortunately, what they put out the other day has no real relevance or anything.
They had to put the statement out, under stock exchange rules
Id love to know the salaries these board members get?i can only imagine very high
So so poor from the Celtic board. They treat their fans abhorrently and have no interest in moving forward in the champions league but just to fill their own dodgy pockets. Total disgrace to true fans 😮
yeh your bang on man
Absolutely horrendous recruitment from our club, its like they are going out of their way to make us cannon fodder in the champions league.
What part has an angry part of the fan base had to play in scaring off potential signings that are on the sway for us ?
Closer to £200 for CL package
Champions League clubs have little respect for Celtic. Any club matched with Celtic in the group stage celebrate the fact. The Board is a disgrace.
Aye exactly..we're struggling to sign players we already had last season...who the fk is responsible fr scouting new talent n why is it always the same story every transfer window???
a left back who can straight away replace taylor would be good. OGs have been saying it for 2 years 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 greg is an empty shirt when we dont have the ball all the time
It may not be easy but the board gets paid more than enough to overcome not easy.
Hail Hail the Celtic and the women Celtic are well Hail Hail 📢🇮🇳🫶🥳🥳🥳🥁🥁🥁🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙌🙌😄👍👌
THE REAL PROBLEM IS POTENTIAL PLAYERS WAGES RYAN..😢
I think its actually quiet smart from celtic. If you think about this window, not many clubs have money in the bank and need to watch for ffp. That being the case, clubs will lower there players value to get them off the books.
Its sheer incompetence. We need a ST a LCB an LB and a RW. Everyone from your granny down knows that and there's been sod all done
Heads have to roll for this, its beyond acceptable now
A mean it’s the same old ae, the board will never change as long as they are in charge which is a shame with so much potential on offer for our club.
We could get relegated but as long as we increase profit the board are over the moon.
No ambition.
I sad it weeks ago, this board will NOT spend. A new keeper will be it.
We need at minimum 6 signings. If we're lucky we get Idah and a shit left back from a backwater league who is "a secret wonderkid" for 450k who'll never be good enough like Oh, Rocki and Lager and will be sold for a little bit of profit after a failed loan move
Nice 1
If they do sell Scales to Bayer Leverkusen there will be a meltdown. Surely we would be better keeping him for another season and then looking for double the rumoured 7 million they have offered
Our board are a bunch of self serving cowards
We will see another couple of late loan deals for players that nobody else wants just like the last window and BR will get theblame if they flop
£729 for my season ticket this year, not including cup or euro games, value for money!🤔
Lemme think 🤔 YES
Calm down it's the huns we're playing their shite,we're fine
