I watch it every year from Greece live, and I always get very emotional! You can see the flashes first striking all over the temple, and after a minute or two the priest comes out from Jesus's grave with the candles! Only the orthodox patriarch can receive the holy light... no one else!

Rightfully each Christian church including Coptic Orthodox should have 1 representative to whom the Greek Orthodox representative coming out of the sepulcher first lights their candles. They are all brothers and sisters in Christ!

The Holy Orthodox Church is Jesus, the Servant of All. But many of us Orthodox do not fulfill the commandments of the All Merciful, Risen Savior. Christ Is Risen!
Holding up phones taking pictures of other peoples phones is case in point. Instead of embracing the importance of the fire of the candle like that of the love of God embracing light and warmth and lighting the way through darkness, these people are more worried about holding up their phone capturing it like a bunch of teenagers at a concert. Saddening really.

The Israeli government shouldn't limit the amount of people who want to profess their faith. That's why Jerusalem should be an international city. It shouldn't be Jewish or Muslim controlled. Only Christians tolerate other religions. Other religions don't tolerate Christians once they have complete control of something. Be it a place or the land itself.
Do you realize how dangerous it is to have so many people holding torches? One wrong move by someone and hundreds could die. A Christian police wouldn't put less restriction. In fact, from what I gathered, it was the clergy which requested these restrictions.
@@tFighterPilot the fire doesn't burn for minutes after it is lit! It's holy light. People put it through their beards and hair, it's on camera, and it doesn't burn a single hair. Plus this miracle has been going on since the first centuries and not once have we heard of fire incidents.
