'rally round the family with a pocket full of shells' hes referring to politicians(corporations) who claim to be pro family but yet support war. i like to call it a schizophrenic juxtaposition. how can you be pro family yet support something that tears families apart on both sides.
i would like to complement your use of the English language and award you a 'Language Bomb award' for this beauty: schizophrenic juxtaposition
Ty. Please sub if u havent. I have beeniking the message sent from RATM. More will be coming
@@RedTopReactions just subscribed. Testify live on London 2010 is a banger! energy level is easily 1,000,000 on a scale of 1-10! it has to be live in London version!!!
Charles Gore thanks for the award!
Shame on the empathy for families in less privileged nations with insurgents that murder, torture and rape innocent children and civilians. Let them spread throughout Asia next time. Curse the military-human compassion complex. You're supposed to be strong for your family just like you're supposed to be strong for your community, country and fellow man. It's not gallons of oils that's we're shooting at in Iraq in Afghanistan that are launching RPG's at us. What, are we supposed to leave their countries fucked and tell their soldiers and families asking us for help to fuck off? These leftists are saying these things with no mind as to the actual occurrences in the war zone, the enemy being fought, what they're doing. NO ONE knows how awful it is than the people fighting it with family to live for. And you notice how most of them don't share the leftists' point of view? The military industrial complex is there when it comes to war but it is far from everything about war, and the inhumanity and evil of the enemy is present, not a political disagreement. If leftists had their way in WW2 and Japan hadnt bombed our ships, they'd push back with even more veracity. Christians and Jews fixed their problem, to an extent, of world domination and mass violence, it's about time we do the same for Islam.
As a 15 year old white kid in the 90’s.... the musical hooks drew me in, but a lot of the lyrics went over my head. Now revisiting Rage in 2020..... it’s insane how relevant they still are. Watching your videos is helping a long-time Rage fan to better understand what the f*ck they were actually taking about. Thank you 🙏🏼
The nineties was crazy with this band. They would show up and do pop up shows. Insane
ua-cam.com/video/HMq-qAn3otE/v-deo.html
I was a metal head, went to a LollaPalooza, Rage wasn't on the bill, the Ramones ended their set Rage came onstage, it was incredible, instant lifelong fan. Bought Evil empire, RATM, read the lyrics, suddenly got how music can have a real message, been dissappointented by lots of acts since.
Zach De La Rocha gets arrested at an MTV performance for climbing a stage set to the top and if I'm not mistaken started yelling about a social injustice being committed at the time. Dudes fire.
@@SeanCarterCFH prob very true, the only issue I think people started to have with him back then was you could not figure whether he was screaming about injustice and or getting rid of government all together. His positions were muddied. He rarely did interviews. It’s written somewhere that one of the reasons the band broke up was over issues like that. Nonetheless, they were pioneers back then
@@SeanCarterCFH Haha! That was Tim Commerford, the bassist. And he did it because Limp Bizkit sucks!
Man bro you just introduced so many people to a bad ass band, and they're still relevant nearly 30 years after coming onto the scene
If you keep going down this hole with RATM, you'll see just about every song they do is political or about social issues. Zach (vocalist, songwriter) being from the Los Angeles area with Mexican/German/Irish parents. Tom Morello (guitarist, songwriter) being from Harlem with Kenyan/Italian/Irish parents ...they both had a lot of shit to write about. Morello graduated high school with honors and is also a Harvard grad. Dude is legit. RATM is legit. No filters. No bullshit.
THANKS!1 PLEASE SUBSCRIBE IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY. I AM DEFINTITE LOVING WHAT I HEAR CURRENTLY
I was never lucky enough to see RATM when they were together, but I did see Tom Morello play for Ozzy at Voodoofest in New Orleans. I had no words. Just beyond human comprehension how good he is.
@RegurgiNate Morello's father was Mau-Mau. His paternal granduncle was Jomo Kenyatta. So you could say he had revolution stamped in his DNA. Dude ended up working 9-5 for Alan Cranston (US Senate, D-CA). Imagine that.
I wish Rage wasn't as relevant as they are now. But unfortunately we all need to stand up and fight again.
Fight who?
@@Crunch_Buttsteak the motherfuckin machine
@@Crunch_Buttsteak good question
You haven’t seen nothing yet. Zack is top 10 best rappers. Every song is a lyrical master piece regardless of your politics. Respect the mans words
Another awesome video. Even without the lyrics on hand, you capture a lot of what Zack spits. I love it. A few references explained (if someone already explained all of these, sorry):
"Five-sided fistagon" = a pejorative for the Pentagon.
"Weapons, not food, not homes, not shoes, not need just feed the war cannibal animal" = We can't take care of our own people, but we can bomb the shit out of third-world countries.
"While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells" = Why so many people miss or sleep on this line, I don't know. The U.S. makes weapons just as fast as it crowds prisons with people of color. That line hits hard now when our government can't properly manage a pandemic, but it has the military infrastructure to abduct protestors in unmarked cars.
"Rally round the family with a pocket full of shells" = Politicians sell family values with their mouths but use their pocketbooks to finance a war agenda. The shells are bullets.
"Bulls on Parade" = As many others have said, yeah, the cops/law enforcement are coming to get you.
Overall this is about the military industrial complex, but you got there. I love the channel and your reactions. It's also important to know I didn't understand any of this when I first heard Rage as a child. I had to grow up and reach my mid-30s before I truly digested the truths Zack was spittin at all of us. We're all life-long learners.
✊🏽
Mans just sat the calmest I’ve ever seen through one of the greatest guitar solos of all time
*looks around in May 2020* "These are the thoughts that set fire to your city".... Yeah looks about right
Political left wing woke
Lies... Burn cities
I get chills every time that microphone explodes
You need to have the lyrics on screen when you react. It’ll help you. Zack is a master lyricist/MC but it can be hard to follow sometimes. You’ll get SO MUCH more out of it, and in turn, so will your viewers!
BRING. IT. BACK!!!! :)
I'm old... I've been into Rage since the 90s... so happy to see you getting to it now...
Your lack of excitement for Tom Morello’s “scratching” guitar solo disturbs me.
ahahahhaha... its alot going on lol.
Lmao, ♪ quit it now.♪

The "bulls" in this song are in response to a term that Ronald Reagan used often about "turning the bulls loose" in regards to deregulation of the stock market & big business back in the 1980s.
RATM is basically telling you what's happened while "the bulls" are parading around running things.
There's a ton of deep meaning to almost every song. To the point that you would have to research what he meant back in the day. Now, there's a bunch of people you can find breaking songs down online, but they're not always right. There are a handful of old interviews with Zach & Tom where they explain the meanings of some songs.
now do Down Rodeo lyrics video.
One of their best bars.

Try "Down Rodeo" "Wake up" "Bombtrack" And thank me Later. :) #RATM #TimeLess
Check out "wake up" and "know your enemy" by them next! And i recommend lyric videos cuz theres a lot to catch :)
I was watching someone else's reaction & I think he hit the nail on the head as far as Zack repeating certain lines, that it is like you are at a protest & he is the leader saying what you should yell after him.
Fun WWF Fact: (I saw your Testify reaction & you mentioned tge Dudley's) Stone Cold Steve Austin used Bulls on Parade as his example of what he wanted his entrance music to sound, now I don't think it sounds like it but this was the inspiration for his music & I am positive that HHH's My Time & DX's were inspired by Rage as well.
If you haven't checked it, yet, you should look into the cover of this by Denzel Curry, from about a year ago. The man went ballistic w/ an "impromptu" verse during the solo that goes into near triple-time bars.
Yeah man, this song is straight sick!
Zach was giving a warning ⚠️ He wanted his Rage to wake people up
Welcome to the RATM rabbit hole! Continue your journey my man.

Great review! Please try RATM 'Wake up' with lyrics :-)
Will do
I’m sure someone’s said this already but… …”a pocket full of shells” means you’ve got nothing. So “they always rally round the family with a pocket full of shells” just means ‘they always prey on the poor’.
Subbed for rage
lots of rage here
nice
“Bulls On Parade” is a phrase to notify others that police or military is on the move, i.e., when someone yells “5-0”
GOTCHA
Bulls On Parade... RIOT!! LA Riots. I can't wait for The RATM tour with Run The Jewels.
Listen to the Ghost of Tom Joad. That one hits hard, as all RATM songs do. My personal favorite

You got out from under a rock now... Wait there's another one you still got to get out from under..
UA-cam ... Rage Against The Machine - Rock im The Park 2000.
From Germany live Performance.
Once you hear their music , ... it will stick with you forever , They are truly a gift from God. No one has come close to this ingenious style of music. ( Heavy Funk...Punk Rock...Rap...and deep Rock Drums.)
Lyrics of Truth and Outrage form Moments in Time from 25 + years ago , still hold to their truth even today. They are the Black Lives Matter seeds that started us all thinking back in 1995..."Rage Now".
They made people cross their Musical Divide with their MUSIC and then stuck you with their Lyrics of TRUTH and OUTRAGE. Instantly bring Races together for One common good. Only God can do That Shit. (Sorry about the cuss word, But you got to hear it that way or you'll think I'm a Religious Freak.
Tom
Wonderfully brutal criticism of the military-industrial complex and the political manipulations involved therein. I think when say "They rally round the family. With a pocket full of shells" they're talking about politicians or leaders who always talk about how important family values are, but then have no problem with sending people to fight wars for profit. Bulls might be a reference to "bull markets" in the sense that certain countries like the US benefit financially from wars and the arms industry.
THANKS FOR LISTENING PLEASE SUB IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY
More relevant than ever... Unfortunately.
Just keep it spreading, this is what we need.

@@RedTopReactions Yessir! And thank you very much. I really appreciate seeing a band I was completely blown tf away by as a kid kid get attention in the here and now. The level of real is UNHEARD of from lyrics to their interviews and even their first album cover. The monk burning himself alive in protest.
