Imagine the eg came out like this it would slap most cars factory. I feel like Honda made the engines and parts to fit in all chassis for this reason 😈
This car started life as a 1.5 carby. Then had a civic si 1.6 efi put in with a itr dc2 fuel tank. Had front end damage hence the change of reo support. Then had a complete dc5s conversion. Great to see the car still alive and been used. Well done
For anyone who doesn't want to add it up. The absolute budget total price is $3500-$4500 depending on the price of the engine and gearbox you can find.
Not bad considering I'm planning it to cost 6k for me to get k24a2 swapped in ek sedan with awd transmission, later full awd. Me and my brother doing the swap. 3k easily for Only engine and transmission.
Alternately, instead of the k20a3 you can get the k20z2. The z2 head can be converted to a typer/rsx-s head later on bit by bit, while the a3 head will need to be replaced completely. They cost about the same so it's pretty much a no-brainer.
Fun fact, we DID actually get the FD2R gearbox in australia, FN2R gearboxes share the same ratios and the same 5.06 F/D with late models having the LSD as well, the only difference is the FN2R boxes are stamped SPWM where as FD2R boxes are SPNM. I'm currently using an LSD FN2R box in my DC2R with a Hybrid racing no cut Z3 shifter and K tuned FD2R cables, awesome combo.
Fun fact 2, the shortest K series final drive actually came in the RE4 CRV which was 5.3. It's actually the same part that comes in the spoon 5.3 kit and will go into any K series box.
@@harryx6968 I'd say it is! FN2 boxes are getting easier to find and wont be any more expensive than a DC5R, EP3R or CL7 gearbox. The one downside is it is still a bit of uncharted territory for the most part and I really struggled to find info on what bits to use etc and did a ton of cross referencing before I finally found a combo that worked best for my application. FD2R cables work a treat, both hybrid racing and K tuned do some, I beleive that these are the same cables used on 08+ civic Si's from the US and any shifter that uses the FD2R/ civic SI pattern will work too. dont use FN2R cables as I heard from a mate that they are just slightly too short. a cheap alternative is using CU2 accord shifter and cables, that will set you back around $200 total. The great thing about these options is it works with the factory gearbox cable stay. If you want it is possible to retrofit the old style selector onto the FN2 box but requires tapping a hole into the bellhousing so you can mount it, but then you have all the options for a DC5/EP3 for shifter and cables, but you may require a custom cable stay still Any other questions feel free to message to me
Such a sweet Civic. I love the color you went with. I knew a guy here in the states, and at that time he had the fastest front-wheel drive drag-racing Civic hatch on the East coast. He had a performance company called NRG-Tech. I think it was a 2 liter single huge turbo big slicks on the front and parachute. He was running high sevens in the quarter with it and this was at least 10 years ago. Wasn't a street car though, had a fuel cell.
I bought a 92 civic hatchback, with a k24 swap. Motor went 💩 after racing a scatpack. The good thing. I just got my car back, from rebuilding the motor. K20 oil pump, 50 gear, so I can rev it 8k To be on a safe side. Tune with hondata. Little car, is quick and loud.
Aloha from Hawaii! Sorry you guys are feeling the results of Tyranny down undah mate! I watched a few of your videos in the past, good stuff! Very accurate break down of swap options. I went with a K20a & Hondata in my white 93 Si. PLM manifold with 3 in exhaust like you. It’s a dream to drive that’s for sure! I highly recommend doing it for anyone considering it. Been thinking about possibly adding a SC and AWD. 😎🤙🏽🙏🏽
I was going to do a k swap project but the cost of everything and where I wanted to go for power fiqures. I went with an Evo X cause out of the box this car performs, With full bolt ons and a tune making comfortable 350hp but Ive got the bug and Want more power... Bigger turbo and fuel pump/injectors hopefully get me around 400hp range for my summer bae. Sucks Clay you guys aren't allowed to atleast cruise around the days your on lock down. Keep up the awesome content Clay!
Can’t go wrong with the Evo X! It’s such a killer daily driver with tons of power and practicality. Would love to experience Boosted K Swap one day! Hope you’re staying safe mate, cheers for tuning in😁
Building a K24A3 for my 5th gen Prelude atm. Im giving it a K20A oil pump, and down the line i`ll swap the head for a K20A2 head, making it a frankenstein engine. Also will add a turbo once i have it running right and everything checks out. Gonna be sick driving my Prelude once its in! Gearbox wise i have a GZT5 from a '08 Accord Tourer. I`ll be deconstructing it soon and rebuilding it if it needs it, but i`ll replace the seals and add an LSD to it :P
I miss my eg hatch with 2.0 crVtec turbo Frankenstein, used to park it in the street of the big city pull the p28 and bring it inside the house everynight back in 2003.

Excellent breakdown Clay. Just out of curiosity can you also comment or speak to the complexity and costs associated to obtaining engineering certificate for the motor swap?
At the time of obtaining it here in VIC, it was relatively easy, just needed to make sure brakes were upgraded to match the power plant, everything securely mounted up as well as exhaust being emissions legal. Thanks for tuning in mate☺️
@@ClayWong Fantastic really appreciate the feedback mate! Your build is truly an inspiration; I've been looking to boost my own b18 swapped eg but your build definitely tempts me to go k series.
I will not be able to speak to the difficulty of mounting the transmission since I had a shop that specializes in swaps do the work. Hasport engine mounts are on my setup.
Hey Clay just a shout-out to let you know your taillight is out and so is your brake light on your beautiful K swap. Wouldn’t like to see you get defected. Love your channel 👊😷
I'm trying so hard to convince myself to leave my automatic 1989 civic wagovan alone. So far..while "leaving it alone", we have 15x8 wheels, progress coilovers, new swaybar links, and a few other little things. I feel like a k20 would make this thing a legitimate go-kart that can carry 4 people and groceries, the factory d15 leaves a bit to be desired.
My K-swap project is just a dream at the moment but it’s to put a K24 into a Fiat X1/9. Your video has definitely added to my knowledge. 👍🏻 Does your Civic still qualify for historic registration after the major changes? That would affect me also.

I'm at little confused you say it's a dc2 but then you say you need the dc5 Knuckles how dose that work? Please I would love to do that Brake swap on my eg6...
I'm looking into K20 swapping a Mazda6 I'm getting. I don't want to be a basic mazda and go with the MazdaSpeed 6 swap or just buying a whole other car. So I want to do something different, and K20 swap a Mazda6, even if it costs too much.
Sick car bro. Hope mine will be done soon! Just a few things: 1. I wouldn't recommend Accord Euro/TSX tranny for anyone looking to do any serious track driving. The gear ratios are complete garbage. Also the mounts are different. 2. How did you get a K20Z1 ECU to work with a K-pro?
I want a K series EG hatch so bad as a daily/fun car that I know won’t break but I can’t even find an EG hatch shell for under $8k I have the swap kit, motor and trans ready but I just need the car and then from there figure out what else I need
