It's not the thing that you are from tier 3 or tier 1 college. The thing is that how well you do in the situation. All colleges are same, including iit. We have minds which are smarter than iitians.
Internship is just to get the experience for a novice developer or programmer .It is a short duration experience where you will get industrial knowledge.Few companies paid for it ,few are not. But placement is is a way to get job and earn income for your knowledge and skills.It's for long duration work where you work for companies.
