    Thanks Katie, You are an amazing inspiration. The way you explained everything in this video, has given me a whole new understanding, on how to manage my drinking whilst taking Nal. I was under the impression, that the over time, the medication would take away the urge to drink (so long as I tried to help the Nal by reducing my alcohol intake} Your video's are really helping me understand how TSM actually works. And the mindset we should be using. I thank you so much, for everything you do, in helping us control our alcohol dependence. And, by the way. Your are are very attractive young lady 🙂 Thanks again !

    Feb 17 is my bday also my 11th month on this method and I’ve finally reach the month of no booze actually I’m on day 33 I did plan on having a drink next week for my birthday but that’s up for debate 😂 I can’t thank Katie enough for advocating this method as I would have never tried it if it wasn’t for her and her constant information on the method!!!!
    It takes time but the results I’ve seen to this point and it’s like idc 😂 I really do not care I can drink at anytime I just do not want to like at all majority of the time now.. my brain has been being reprogrammed and will continue if I choose to drink! I will say this method has absolutely saved my life the massive progress made in a year span WOW just WOW
    I wasn’t expecting to quite 100 percent but I honestly see it progressing to that point by the 2 year point we will just have to see

    My problem is this. I have problems and I have had disappointments and painful experiences in life. Not caused by alcohol, however caused by family relationships, financial problems and so on. I want to drink so that I will not feel the pain. Now, as I understand it, naltrexone in a sense takes the alcohol out of alcoholic beverages. I will drink but not get the anaesthetic effect. Which is great, but how do I deal with my pain? Instead of taking a pill and drink some alcohol, I could just not drink alcohol. But I want to drink alcohol. I think that this is true of many alcoholics.

      Hi! Great question. You do have to learn to develop new coping tools (gradually) over time. It’s a gentle process but it can be uncomfortable. That’s where doing the inner work and understanding why you want to make this change is so important. Is it possible to have gout pain (uric acid) as I got severe pain in the normal gout affected areas near the heals. Please help if you are aware of this is a side affect.? The drinking urge is less though. I want to keep going!!

      @stevecooper7038 Рік тому +3

      It's usual practice to start on 25mg Naltrexone for the first few days, in order to help mitigate any side effects.
      Nausea is one of the most commonly reported side effects. Taking the medication with a meal and/or a large drink of water, can also help with the nausea. If it's really bad, an over the counter anti-nausea medication is reported to be helpful too.

    Frankly, the "I took one pill and booze tasted terrible, had no interest after that" story is very disheartening for many of us. I am so happy for those lucky few (that is so wonderful for them), but to tell those stories in disproportionate amounts can be harmful. I followed the protocel for three months and gave up. It's the, "it didn't work for me for 12-18 months," stories that actually give more hope and are probably more realistic. At least 3 months to significant results, seems more normal. The next day, I am cured, stories are beautiful for those lucky few but it is both discouraging for most and makes the protocol seem magical, which will discourage acceptance - seemingly magic solutions cause huge scepticism in medical and other communities.

    • @thrivealcoholrecovery

      I would say the “fast responder” stories are more rare and it’s the 6-12+ month stories that are more the norm

      @@thrivealcoholrecovery Makes me feel a little bit better and less likely to give up. I tried TSM about 10 years ago and felt I couldn't ask my Dr. for Nal, so I ordered it, from India at first. Didn't follow the golden rule a few times and I bailed. This time I feel different. Actually ready? Three weeks in and still drinking too much but I don't feel like I need to start pounding them back, right away, so an encouraging sign. Sticking 100% to the golden rule.
      Thank you for your channel. I am sure you are helping many hundreds of people.

      @@thrivealcoholrecovery Your guests talk a lot about therapy and AA (good and bad), but I don't hear a lot about small group meetings (non-AA). Prior to C-vid, I found them quite helpful and will be doing them again - I like that these are without some of the bagage of AA.
      The other thing I don't hear, possibly because it is not legal, is psilocybin. It seems very helpful for many people. It's going the route of cannabis here in Canada, where it's nationally legal. First illegal with defiant stores and mail order, then medical, then recreational not enforced, then decriminalized, then fully legalized. It's funny, people smoke cannabis everywhere here but in Toronto but open liquor is fined.
      Last point, it's interesting that Portugal completely decriminalized hard drugs. Here in Canada it's illegal but not really enforced, as we have safe injection sites. With fentanyl out there, this makes perfect sense to me.

      Honestly, I don’t remember. I think she was just a general psychologist that helped me talk through some of the issues I was going through at the time, as well as some of the historical traumas (if you will) that I was processing due to the fact that I wasn’t numbing out with alcohol anymore. I clearly remember it was very hard to get a therapist to help me because so many in my town were not accepting new patients. She was not my first choice, but she did help me work through some things.

    I was at stage 4 of Alcoholism. Which is a subject you don't address. Drinking for me was certainly Death. After Detoxing this last time I immediately started Naltrexone. The results of extinction was immediate. Another point (immediate extinction) I have not heard you mention. I think your in a social club for moderate drinker that use Naltrexone as a way to drink socially and get away with it. Alcoholism is #3 killer in the United States. And it seems to me your focus is on the no so serious group of people, the trendy stage 2 drinkers. I don't take any thing you say seriously. My motivate with the administration of Naltrexone is to save my life and to live the rest of my life sober. Not to go back out there and play Russian roulette with Naltrexone.
