Fans were upset that the company had done that and were trying to get that part edited out for Taemin's sake. At first he was dancing with his hands tied but then he learned how to embrace his addicting and enticing parts so he was dancing more freely, but not happily. The catharsis would then allow him for a rebirth (as an artist). His new self will be shown on Act 2. Thank you, Bris!
Thinking how this is one of my favorite Albums of all times. You really can see 'Taemin' in the complete Album. That's what he wants, for his own genre to shine and for people to say 'That's Taemin. That's a Taemin song/dance'. And I'm loving how people are acknowledging his vocals, from seeing him just as a top tier dancer to people talking about his voice. Taemin is breaking the category of idol to Artist with every comeback. He is his own genre. He WILL be REMEMBERED. MJ was MJ. Taemin is Taemin, even when his persona is evolving and Mj was one of his inspirations for his dreams. It's confusing to me when I see people thinking Taemin is the criminal. imo it's pretty clear from the opening lyrics (and everything thereafter) that he's describing an unhealthy relationship with this other person. The whole direction of the MV shows Taemin in a restrained manner, either battling hand ties or himself. His voice, his dancing, his acting all point to someone who's trapped and in pain, but isn't quite sure if they should leave.

But this masterpiece is way more than what it seems. In the MV, Taemin is portraying both the victim and the criminal. I think that's why his album has two versions - The Suspect and The Innocent.

I f*cking LOVE him like this! This is my *favorite* Taemin; "Danger", "Want", "Guess Who". These dark, edgy. erotic themes that only he can convincingly pull off. And @BRISxLIFE , love, I'm an OG MJ fan, but I don't think we can really compare them anymore. Taemin is a more accomplished dancer (more genres), a better actor (mv), is less problematic, and a lot of other things. I feel like we undermine his originality and hard work when we put him under that MJ umbrella
Taemin himself is HONORED to consider himself a sort of MJ protégé. He has studied not only MJ's dancing but his facial expressions, stage presence, relationship with gender ambiguity and even separation between personal life and stage persona (taemin is also quite shy IRL). I don't think it's at all insulting to put Taemin under the "MJ umbrella", because artistically, there are only maybe 2 or 3 others who join him there. Genius recognizes genius; Quincy Jones created the zeitgeist with MJ's sonic storytelling, just as SM and Taemin are trying to expand what k-pop can be and sound like in this era. It isn't an insult. It's recognizing someone successfully standing on the shoulder of a giant and not in their shadow, which is no easy feat.
