They replaced Rat in 1977 with John Moss (who went on to Culture Club) this lineup can be heard on the semi official live album "The Captains Birthday" (Spotify has it) John Moss does great here but he's just not Rat.
Damned Damned Damned is a very good album,there was no other punk album before it to be compared too, Music for Pleasure is equally as GOOD as Damned Damned Damned. I disagree with your use of the word 'Equally '.
The drum sound on MGE is massive.

I remember listening to MGE for the first time. Incredible! And the subsequent black album and strawberries really stand out too!
