I lol'd so hard at the road rage, Pete is such a well mannered and composed man in the videos but we all hate idiots in traffic haha
what did he do tho?
I'm the same way 😂 fucking drivers
When Pete road rages lol. But man that dude was being stupid maybe because he saw a SUPRA!!! LOL
5:18
E bikes and scooters are getting to be a problem in our area (I live near SA) Wrong way down the road. weaving like a drunkard, and usually they have shopping bags hanging from the handlebars.
Hate to add to the stereotype but pretty sure that was a woman lol
@@blue04mx53 man i live in Portugal Europe and it is the same shit, they are everywhere and the people using it they don't give a shit
So Clean!!
Would rather have 383hp safe Hp all day instead of blowing up
This would embarrass A90s all day too
This is the essence of a JDM build. Kudos for staying true to the “OEM +” goal…can’t wait to see the target price!
I hate the disregard people have when seeing you drive, absolutely love the car, sounds incredible guys!! The excitement I hear in your voice is quite contagious, just incredible...
this entire build made me fall back in love with supras again.
one of the most cleanest and most detailed builds ever on UA-cam
so hyped to look at the bidding wars on this!!
I agree. Over the top Supras kinda ruined the supra image for me but this build is just.👌
So I missed it huh?
That’s the case I’ll have to subscribe and go back into his older videos 🤷🏼♂️
I am kind of in awe that you just decided to build the second supra out, those wheels are amazing!
Just a gem of a car. Love the build guys. So nice to see the twins on there. I am in love with those rims. Pete getting upset was hilarious,
Those wheels are absolutely gorgeous! Somewhat of a stock look but after market. Great choice on em. Definitely makes the car look amazing.
@@leonardnose5695 Hell yeah
The supercut of PT putting the door card back on was a nice touch. Also, love the new center caps on those stunning wheels...really ties the whole build together!
The shift timings are in the TCU. Most import transmissions from that era can handle more like pressure and tighter timings. They were so concerned about having the smoothest shifts they overbuilt the trans and took all the snap out of the shifts.
Increased the linepressure in my old JZZ30 and it cut gears quicker than I could hahaha
Love these videos. The lulls in the shift you describe is from the ecu cutting fuel, retarding ign timing and closing the TRC throttle, that's why you hear the BOV go off every shift even with foot to the floor. Fitting a shift kitted valve body would cut the 1/4mile times by up to 0.5sec and also prolong the life of the transmission by minimising slippage between shifts and holding power up top by mechanically increasing line pressure and opening up passages in the shift circuits. Once you've done that you could remove the TRC fuse and or disconnect the "throttle ecu", it would trigger a fault code 89 but that will allow you to build boost on the line and not shut the TRC throttle valve preventing decent launch. Taking it further a standalone ecu controlling both the engine and transmission would transform the car to feel much more direct and modern.
No hate on this build. Keep up the good work!
Everytime I hear jz or rb idle, my brain tingles. There is just something with those inline sixes with the 3" exhaust that is so soothing to me
Makes me want to go into the garage and start up my 1J vvti.
@@jrbuch I recommend you to do it!
This was such a great series. That engine is making over 450hp at the crank. Really a job well done. ✌
i remember seeing guys making 450whp just with bolt on with stock twins. great seeing this video. brings back highschool memories sitting in the back seat of a TT auto supra
Awesome look, great power, classic JDM! Great job with this build guys.
Back in the day, folks maxed the oem twins on 450 whp on ethanol.
My wife drives an automatic 6.0 GTO with long tubes and I have to say it’s a nice change of pace and still fun to drive from time to time coming out of my mazdaspeed3.
Looks lovely, now finish the evo and get the sti v Evo battle done
If you had told me that I'd be saying this 25 years ago, I would have said you're out of your mind...
But over the years I've actually developed some fondness for good old slushbox autos. They're reliable, smooth, easy to creep & launch, and with (usually) fewer gears, they can run through the rev range without hunting. When set up right and driven on public roads, they can be really sweet.
My friends ripped on me for years having an auto in my JZZ30 (albeit shift kitted) but I liked it. It was great for daily duties and spirited driving on the street.
I'd buy another auto again without hesitation.
Another awesome episode, thank you very much!
Before I bought my Supra, I test drove the 6-speed manual (both NA and TT), 5-speed manual and the 4-speed auto (both NA and TT) . I fell in love with the 4-speed and I've been rocking it ever since. I have shimmed my actuators and increased the pressure in the valve body so it does shift faster and firmer, but obviously, it's not going to be as quick as a modern automatic transmission. When I'm driving around town, the shifts are smooth and you wouldn't know any different, but out on the back roads, you know that the transmission is not stock. It really is a great transmission, but again, it's not for everyone - same with the manuals. The good thing is that we have choice and we can go with whatever works for us 👍🏾.
Love the colour, love the wheels, love the power. I would proudly drive this all day everyday even if it’s auto
And because of this, resale value of the MkIV Supra automatic just went off the roof! Great series guys!
I love how this kept true to what the Supra is, OEM+ builds like these are my absolute favorite by far as it still keeps to the original car as much as possible whatever car it may be.
Wow that car has come along way! Nice job guys…400 rear wheel HP is a nice streetable number. Can’t wait to hear the asking/selling price. Looking forward to the next video series…you guys rock!
That HKS exhaust with the intake and blow off valve makes such a sweet noise!
You guys rock - you helped me do maintenance on my first vr.8 STi - Supra came out super nice!
Car turned out great! Those rims, the lip on them 🤤 Also, hearing Pete swear even bleeped out was unexpected haha 😅 Crazy mopeds smh
Yeah, people seem to hate on autos! But make excuses when they get Smoked by one! You guy's really have such great chemistry! Always enjoy watching you guy's interact!! You guy's compliment each other perfectly! You guys are a Win!
Love this episode and as I get older, I miss my stock twins on my A80, the responce and manner, is suited for a nice daily/cruiser! I would go back to stock twins in a heart beat!
Super clean build and great numbers on this ~stock JDM TT 2JZ. This car will make some lucky person smile each time they drive it.
So good to see you guys tick off this OEM+ build guys. What a lovely journey it's been. I'm a Supra fan so i'll wait it either way haha But in saying that, this was a good series for sure!!!
The results of this OEM+ approach make me want a Supra all over again. Nice work guys
Wheels look stunning. Nice work with the car, wouldn't do it any different myself (might add some highflow twins in the future and some E85) + a shift kit if staying auto.
When I had my JZZ30 Soarer daily driver, I had similar mods to your Supra. I retained the stock twins, dual 2.5 exhaust, shift kitted the auto and only did intercooler, twin intakes for each turbo, and an e-Manage blue. It ran SO well, the factory turbos never failed in 6 years of ownership. Couldn't fault the car, specially for daily driving in traffic.
good to see you guys made some decent power, brought that baby back to top form!
Those wheels slowly grew on me and the sound reminds me of my dad's e36 like the auto shifts sounds nice... love the content and keep it up guys
Love your content guys! Seriously nailed it on this series. I have an RB25 swapped 280Z, and its not where it needs to be for its current boost level (22psi!), and this car confirms I need to pull back on the tune. I want the car to live, and it will still be crazy fast at about 16-18 psi. Big HP numbers=expensive tires burned up, tickets, and unhappy neighbors…. Keep at it!
Oh, and you were super tame on the scooter idiot. Nice to see you blow off a little steam on that dude…. Very appropriate.
I absolutely love the sounds of the HKS BOV!!
Believe it or not you can find a wiper delete cover at your local hardware and or plumbing store.
They make covers for plugging holes in sinks and electrical panels. Painted or wrapped you’d never tell it’s not an auto part.
Make sure to paint the back side of them though as they’re usually just bare metal.
Congrats on 500k subscribers, long overdue.
Amazing! It is a night and day change from where you started. The wheels and color have all grown on me. I like the look. Watching your faces as you drive it confirms the goodness.
5:19 I couldnt agree more. There are WAY to many morons on side'Walks' on scooters/mopeds. Dangerous move...
On a better note. The car came out FANTASTIC! You guys did a superb job returning it to a truly beautiful spec!
That cam is really helping in the top end, look at that curve!
It has cams not cam it's DOHC not push rod OHC
5:20 The New Yorker came out lol! Great build!
Twins will make another 150hp yet if you want. But that's a good amount of power before you start running into fueling issues.
Wow, I’m surprised how much power it made. Good job guys. I wonder what it would be like if you guys let it overboost
even though I'm a manual gear box guy I loved this car, great build 👍🏼
I had later version with variable timing. But I assume the twins are similar concept. You really need 2 boost controllers. One for each turbo. I installed 1 boost controller and it would do 0.8bar on first turbo and 1.0-1.2bar in twin turbo mode. But I installed second boost controller made 1 bar on first turbo and 1-1.2 bar in twin mode. There is a dip in boat while it crosses over. In theory the dip can be reduced but I never messed with the vacuum/boost lines that controlled the switchover.
This supra looks, sounds and drive like a dream...I would like to have a Supra like this...it's my dream since I've saw Supra for a first time...
Wow 500k subs! I swear I saw 486k a week ago? I must be wrong. Congrats!
That car looks amazing! SA always knows how extract all the beauty out of these cars by doing tasteful minimalist things.👌
I was on the fence about the wheels at first, but they are really growing on me!
I love that your subcount seems to get into regions where it should have been years ago
Amazing build guys! The car looks amazing and runs amazing and different from all the typical supra builds 👌 congrats! And can't wait to the the Red one again 😈
Upon closer look at the dyno curve, I’m surprised to see it only ran to less than 6k rpm! With the hks264 cams, the curve is push to the right a bit and can be seen that the power curve is still moving up before cutting off!
I really love seeing you guys do well, especially from where you've come.
nice editing around the door card install
This car surprised me. I blew it off as a turd, but it polished up very nicely. Impressive numbers for auto and stock twins. Nice flat TQ curve.
whatever rim choices they pick grow on you so fast, those thing are fire
The O-ring should be on the outside. You have it on the underside of the hatch which will cause it to hold water in the cavity. The o-ring should on the outside piece.
Please fix this. The hatch will rust and rust is a issue on the hatch.
Great final build and great also for achieving over the 500k barrier.
Let’s work on a 1M day to come.
Also, I should add here in Australia a friend of mine has a series 2 RZ vvti with full bolt-ons and standard turbos. It happily and safely makes 400rwhp and has done for years. Not sure why people hate on the twins, even in standard form. I've never had a bad expierence with them.
Someone needs to throw some g25-660’s on there in a twin setup. Those turbos SPOOL LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL🙌🏽🔥
Im actually doing this on my current build. 2x G25-550s though, cant fucking wait to have it finished.
@@tunanocrust2642 on what car the Supra?!?!?!
@@tunanocrust2642 I was going to do the g25-550 on my Taurus SHO but I went with the Xona Rotor 4951s Ultra high flow. Then 2 weeks later Fullrace motorsports had a 10% discount on garrets😡
You won't regret the Xona rotors. Garrett is great for the money, but the HP and spool increase with Xona is well worth it. Remember Garrett is mass produced and Mexican made.
@@PolishAlexx ohhh yea trust me I took the where it was made into consideration. I want to support American company’s if I can while our government and EPA is trying to run them out sadly. The g25 just seemed a little too big for not doing a cam upgrade and didn’t wanna not be able to drive it on the street anymore. The Xonas are slighty smaller which will help with spool since I don’t have a massive RPM range to play with.
I like those wheels more every time I see them.
Congrats guys.
Love those wheels so much
At the end DP doesn't looks to excited about selling this supra. I think he's already in love with it.
I don't think the issue is the fact the twins don't make power, I more believe it's because people assume that
"power" in a supra must be well over 600 or 700hp.
Twins don't give good response people want. Hence why Toyota switched to a single turbo setup on the JZX100 Chaser.
@@traviswalker8933 The twins at stock boost pressures reach full boost below 2000rpm. They are PLENTY for response. Many are making over 500whp on modified twins setup and are more responsive than a small single setup.
@@rotor13 when people install a single turbo on these, it's larger than the stock twins.
Mine makes 417whp with the same bolts ons except I upgraded fuel pump and put a fuel tuner on it to make the car safer. Also, tied the turbos together to make a true TT but thinking about reverting for a faster boost response. I got the same setup- TT auto
I spit up my coffee at 5:20...epic
awesome build as always guys. now i just want a highlight reel of Pete road raging!
Anybody who hates on an auto supra is clearly 13y/o nd don't know anything. The a340 is a beast of a transmission. Especially if you build it
I know you're selling it, but if you felt like doing more work there's people that will mill the trans housing and install better clutches for a crisper shift. Jeff from Powerdynamix is someone local to me who has done that.
This car paired with a Suprastick V4 on paddles with some transmission mods (higher stall on T.C) Perfect his and hers fun car.
A great build, ship to Australia? Turkeys on the roads everywhere Pete.
Hey @Speedacademy! Just want you to know that I bought calipers from Rockauto after seing your latest episode! Might help you guys get more sponsors!
Keep it up!
Thanks!
I feel like people just assume that because it’s a automatic from the 90s so that means it’s a crappy slush box
383hp at the wheels in a RWD sports car is nothing to underestimate. Especially with an auto that thing will launch like a rocket.
So much fun to watch the video, you made my day!
My only issue with the TTs are the vacuum lines. I had 2jTT aristo with an AT and it was so good.
There might be an aftermarket solution for others who need window bushings- a Miata guy used to sell them who made them out of delrin for NA/NB.
Hearing Pete drop an F bomb was good for my soul lol
I was gonna guess 400bhp. You guys seem so friendly I enjoy seeing a little road rage. Awesome build guys.
“Wheels maketh the car” and those wheels are perfection!
Nice editing on the door panel
That road rage caught me off guard 😂🤣🤣🤣
I'm the same way
That blue looks amazing, good job such a cool Supra
hey, a cup of coffee, put a hold on my emails while working to simply sit down and watch this? the best part of my day! really really nice built! Fun Wheel Drive!!!
Man it made some great power!!! I regret not getting the Lexus I could of got with a 2jz swap!
Can’t wait to see the mods for the skyline.
380 is a great power level for a clean street build! Especially for the auto gear box.
I deleted the system where the second twin kicks in now it works like a real twin and it didn't pickup any lag with more power down low.
People hating on the stock twins has a lot to do with the sequential nature of the turbos crapping out, hence while people do the true twin mod, and also the fact that even you guys had go through a bunch of turbos to get a set that wasn't messed up. Most people complaining aren't complaining about newly rebuilt setups.
That said sequential plus auto means the lag on kick down is brutal. True Twin mod FTW.
Holy. That’s surprising! My JDM Supra I have turned up to 17 psi never been on a dyno. I must be making 400 to the tire. Good to know!
Great work guys. Looks mint.
~450PS on the crank. Great power and road friendly also.
Canadian Marty and Moog 😂, you guys are great!
Damn made awesome power! Car came out fantastic. Great build series.
I have a stock VVTI turbo model and the torque around 4,000 RPM completely dies! You can feel the HUGE drop as one turbo goes down and the other comes on. I should record a video haha
These are such healthy numbers for some bolt ons!
Well done guys. The car looks really classy.
