Absolutely brilliant thank YOU ! and i know the World have allways have some perfect Conductors but Herbert von Karajan is a verry special legend .. in my mind !
This is probably the best interpretation around of this sublime work. There is that unfortunate tendency to hurry it in many young directors, which is certainly unpleasant to hear. Karajan, once more, sets the tune.
@@JerryHampton1923 Oh fuck off. It's his opinion. The guys you listed aren't young directors, which his comment was a remark about. Piss off with your worthless attempt at being a snob.
Ivo:a fine interpretation, but as for young conductors rushing it, Karajan's version lasts around 29 minutes while most of the others are around 32-33 minutes. so Karajan takes it very quickly. however, he makes it work.
Everyone sees something different in music. To me that opening is walking across fields in a gentle summer rain. Both Felix and Fanny died far, far too young. But what they produced!
As always, Mendelsshon is such bejewelled beauty of harmony. A masterpiece in composition, an amazing pinnacle of transcendental performance added with H. v. Karajan conducting beautifully the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
you are so right, helena, i live a long way from berlin, i am capt of the danish navy, and control greenland' s water, from dumbheads. love this music and herbert v karajan,
some pretentious comment about how great the music is, trying to oneup everyone else's comment in the process. how the music gives the feeling of profoundness
The second movement is inspired by procession on Holy Week. This movement really interprets sorrow because of Jesus' death, and some parts announce Easter.
+Alejandro Kaufmann Yes Alejandro, it is beautiful // When I start the day listening to this uplifting and inspiration musical piece, I want to get out of bed and do something meaningful // Especially the last movement // This is the best anti-depressant medication one could find //
+Duane Hanlon I'm glad to hear this music helps you to fight against depression, I could bet Mendelssohn and Karajan are happy also from hearing such words

Interpretação correta, equilibrada e bem ajustada dentro do estilo Mendelssohniano. Alberto Kreutzer
Just the opening notes of Karajan are much more forceful and extroverted than Paavo Jarvi's interpretation. There is controlled aggression in this movement.
Not to insult any fans of this performance, but I find Karajan's lethargic conducting of the 2nd and 3rd movements to be dull to the point of being almost painful. I love this work and recommend the version of Solti conducting the Bavarian Radio Symphony. In my view, Solti always takes us on a journey... leading with purpose.
mendelssohn and herbert von karajan, simply two geniuses uniting in this out of this world work of art
Von Karajan will never be forgotten. 👍👏🎼🇪🇺

Just love this magical music.
What a wonderful symphony...
Doi Titani .Mendelssohn și Karajan .Bravo!!!
This is just fantastic and Karajan conduct it so well.
This is probably the best interpretation around of this sublime work. There is that unfortunate tendency to hurry it in many young directors, which is certainly unpleasant to hear. Karajan, once more, sets the tune.
Otto Klemperer Philharmonia, Abbado, Szell...are you serious?

Lol thats the most speed up version arround here. Basically he made this filigrane work sound like an angry Beethoven.

Masterful. He slows it down and lovingly expresses every detail.
wunderschön - komponiert und gespielt
I love the wind instrument sounds in the third movement.

Perfect music for Breaking Away
This is wonderful - Karajan was superb in what he obtained from his musicians.
Absolutely right
I have been inspired by this since I first heard it. It reminds me of my time as a young soldier in the Western, Italian Alps.
And me
French horns and the western Alps go together.
Está es una de mis grabaciones favoritas! 🎶 Muchas gracias por compartirla! 🤗
Happy Birthday to the Late Felix Mendelssohn Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕!
The 1979 movie "Breaking Away" brought me here. This just totally coincides with bikes, all bikes, motorcycles too.
Bellísimo! No me canso de escuchar.
This is real profound and inspirational and beyond words
This Symphony helped put Mendelssohn up... WITH THE BIG BOYS.... (i wish he would have lived ten more years : (
And to think that he didn't like it!
And his famous concert for violin and orchestra? Not to mention others great works.
So did he, probably
The Scottish tho
Mendelssohn is certainly among the boys, but I wouldn't count Mendelssohn as one of the BIG boys
Karajan began rehearsing where others finished performing.
Sorry, I couldn't quite get it, does it mean something good or bad for the performance in this video?
In the case of Karajan, how could it possibly mean something bad???
Thank you :) Definitely...
Superior ! Vielen Dank !
Symphonie intergalactique!
Tepper Michael.
Bravi! Bellissimo! Grazie!
5:42 - 6:01 always gives me goosebumps
I consider Mendelssohn to be the best composer of all time bar none,, in my opinion anyway and Herbert von Karajan the best conductor.
best Italian symphony ever
Listen to Szell and The Cleveland Orchestra
great Master!!!

IGSCE definitely picked a good piece to study this year *wohoo*
Fantastico.
LISTEN AND ENJOY🇲🇹❤️☘
BRAVOOOOOOOO!!!
bis!
Also must say the final movement is my favorite.

This is my favourite recording, but what happened there between 14:30 and 14:50?

Never particularly cared much for Georg Solti. Von Karajan was NEVER lethargic in his conducting.
