If you like how the bike runs stock there is no point. Leave it stock. If you don't like how it runs stock adding an RK Tek head and GET ECU improves the power and response considerably, allows custom maps to be used and map tuning while out riding (fueling and timing adjustments controlled from your smartphone) and traction control.

No worries. I know many people love how the stock TPI bikes perform and have a blast (riding them stock). And there are others who don't like the bike stock. This kit is intended to improve performance, allow the rider to easily make mapping changes and also adds traction control. If this doesn't appeal to you that's fine, but I don't agree that it's "crazy stupid". @@stone4858 - Yes, if you're happy with the bike there would be no point in spending money on it. Regarding you're comment "These bikes come out of the factory with amazing engines and there is nothing you can do to better them.". These bikes come out of the KTM factory in stock homologation tune. Have you ridden one like this? They unrideable offroad (less than 20Hp). The stock pipe has a cat and O2 sensor, airbox has a plate inside with 4 small holes and ECU provides further strangulation. To resolve this sorry state of stockness the pipe is replaced, ECU remapped and plate removed from the airbox. So thankfully it is very easy to better what comes out of the factory and your dealer does it all for you before delivery...
BAD idea!! Injecting fuel into the crankcase WILL dilute the oil hence will reduce the lubrication of the various parts, obviously reducing the lifespan of the engine!
The GET ECU controls the amount of oil injected for this configuration. Carb model bikes have the oil and gasoline passing through the crankcase too and they certainly don't have bottom end lifespan issues.
@@TokyoOffroad Because you said the GET ECU controls the oiling, I don't suspect any issues. But if it didn't, and the bike still only oiled the stock amount with the expectation of no fuel passing through the crankcase, then I believe Iz's point makes sense. Mike, premix and older oil injected two strokes work great this way, but they intentionally supply more oil to compensate for the washing effect of the gasoline vapors as well. The TPI system meets environmental standards because it only injects the minimum amount of oil required to keep the crankcase lubricated. Adding gasoline into the equation and not adapting for by increasing the oil as well would cause issues.
2:40 injector relocation to reed valve improves vaporisation not atomisation because of heat transfer from crank shaft. Crank runs cooler. Also should allow you to remove the oil pump system and run premix fuel.

Did I just watch a guy un TPI a brand new KTM? I don't get it, what is this supposed to achieve?
If you like how the bike runs stock there is no point. Leave it stock. If you don't like how it runs stock adding an RK Tek head and GET ECU improves the power and response considerably, allows custom maps to be used and map tuning while out riding (fueling and timing adjustments controlled from your smartphone) and traction control.
@@TokyoOffroad But that bike was literally brand new, how do you know if it runs good if you've never rode it? And why would it not run good from the factory? I just can't wrap my head around spending $12k on a brand new bike just to throw thousands more at it before it's even rode once.
@@stupidmoto I guess you haven't watched my other videos about the bike. This is my initial ride impression video of my 2021 300 EXC TPI with stock ECU and stock head: ua-cam.com/video/db-jSWo1rlw/v-deo.html
So... if the injectors are moved at the reed valve... does it mean you can convert an older non TPI EXC to TPI?
I guess not, you still have no where to put thermal sensor, pressure sensor... Need an ecu, fuel tank might be different etc...
👍👍👍👍
Shame you have to use the OEM reeds.
Please consider converting your TPI into carburator. I think it would be the best mod for TPI.
Cant way to much involved to do.
@@Madtigertv I have seen it done on a brand new 2018 bike.
Thats exactly what this kit does while giving you the benifits of both carb and fuel injected models.
Benefit of the carb is simplicity durability etc.
@@ccenduro To have 2021 carb bike not 2017 :)
TPS
TPS can be calibrated with the GET ECU connected if experiencing idle issues. The calibration details are provided in the GET documentation.

Exactly!!! See? This guy gets it.....lol
Love the channel but not a fan of $11k dirt bikes that still need parts to function properly.
Progress and inflation. Everything is a computer these days, cars, TVs, and now dirt-bikes. Wifi, tune it with your smart phone. I bought a $10,400.00 KTM 500 EXC. I added a $700.00 ECU to make it run properly. This is an EPA issue in the US since my 500 is street legal.
@@johndavis1217 crazy to have to do. Ats why I buy Sherco. Race ready out of the box. Dual Sports a different topic tho.
The TPI bikes don't need this horseshit. The GET system is just another way to for people to piss away their money for no good reason.
@@johndavis1217 I agree, I have a 2020 FX 350, the standard mapping made the bike difficult to ride, it was far too lean resulting in the header glowing red as soon as you started the thing, snatchy delivery not much low down at all, prone to stalling. First move was get the ECU re-mapped by Twisted, it worked well, and not too expensive, then I went for the Vortex X10, brilliant and totally adjustable, the bike rides like a dream now...........except for the bloody FMF 4.1 TI which is so loud its embarrassing.
This is getting out of control.......how about a bike that needs nothing other than a suspension tweak to suit the rider.......not all this expensive stuff for a bike that is already bloody expensive to buy!
There are plenty of people who like the stock suspension and power and don't spend anything on mods. So yeah, there's no need to spend money if you're happy with how it performs...
This is crazy stupid 😂
I'll bite, why?
@@TokyoOffroad Why ! Lol lets start with your going back in time 😂 and what's that big piece of junk attached to the reeds. Secondly I hope they are adding more oil to that engine because that case is going to try out like hell. The list goes on and on of incredibly stupidity this kit represents, it's an insult to those engineers who spend so many years perfecting TPI engines. Say all you want in your review but I will always be 100% against this type of rubish. I love you channel and your videos are the best, but when it comes to these things sorry but we will never agree.
The ECU not having a mount which fits on the the standard rubber mount posts and having to use the stock reed valve are not plus points though. Anyway, I'm enjoying testing this product and will definitely be making some update videos about it when I've had some more time with it...
@@TokyoOffroad If spending over $1,100 is not stupid to improve what ? 1 or 2 Hp ? 😂 is not stupid then my friend I don't know what stupid is. I know what your going to say it's not about the horse power bla bla bla... it always is about that and spending thousands of dolors on RK Tech heads and GET ECU or V-Force reeds are not going to give you more then 2, 3 Hp and that's why they are not worth it. These bikes come out of the factory with amazing engines and there is nothing you can do to better them.
@@TokyoOffroad exactly. Rub a little mixed gas on your skin, it leaves oil. Thats how they lubricate.
@@Balomis - That's right (oil injection controlled by the GET ECU). The race kit isn't new and I haven't heard of any oil related issues.
@@TokyoOffroad Can I do pre mix with this kit?
More electronics to become more disconnected. No thanks I stay with a carbed bike.
Thats the whole point, it makes the TPI perform smooth and strong like the carb models but with way better fuel milage and consistency
