Man you can tell he was so disappointed at choking at the very last trick, I love his tenacity and his pursuit for excellence. Beautiful performance nonetheless, so great to see him.
I don't know anything about yo yo-ing, but I came here to acknowledge that this was one of the greatest yo yo performances of all time. I knew of this performance only by watching a video from Resprit
Hajime is making a statement to the world of Yoyo competition. The song starts by asking ‘do you think I am stupid?’ reinforcing the message of the current inadequate point scoring system and possibly the need to introduce a Soloham division. His shirt reads ‘one is not enough’ which could reflect that winning first place is no longer his goal - he seeks to revolutionise the 4A game. The solemn expressions and lack of excited gestures as compared with his previous performances seem to support this motif.
Non-yo-yo player here, but that was mesmerizing! Came here after resprit's vid popped up in my feed, and glad it did... what a performance. Listening to that crowd was getting me hype
Personally the fact he messes up the last trick makes it better for me. You get so memorized it's easily to forget that could have happened so many times during the performance, it's like at the end a lil reminder he's human and I just went, damn, that's cray
The crowd at Worlds is usually great but I don’t think I’ve ever heard the place in such an uproar. Hajime is so fluid with yo-yos, I’d imagine he’d be world class in any division he directed his attention to.
Last year he made history by winning 2 different division in one season, this year he Amazed us doing Soloham for 3 minutes straight, I wonder what is going to happen next year.....
This freestyle was occasion to emphasize the importance of general 4A. Even though Hajime showed the best free style, it would be only then that he came in seventh. Apart from objective results, Hajime showed possivility of Soloham as an Independent sport. It may be an opportunity born of 6A.
1:37 he broke like 109 laws of physics there tossing up that yellow yoyo one handed, how in the heck did he do that? I must have rewatched that part alone a dozen times. Looking mad casual all the while and perfectly sync'd to the music. Unbelievable.
his routine doesn't click well with 4a regulations, that's why the trick diversity and body control are restrained. however, there's no one can do something like him. this is transcended beyond competing
The Tech scoring got him. He actually has the 4th and 2nd highest Trick Diversity and Body Control. Of course you don't go jumping around the stage when you do soloham. He executed and delivered only on the small spots on the stage where he performed. And he did "almost" flawless 3min soloham ( except for the last trick ), tbh it is very rare for players to execute soloham that natural. So, he got the highest Control score. And that was well deserved.
I have been practicing soloham for over 4 hours now and i cant even get the basic rolls down. It is incredible he can do all of this. Hajime is truly inhuman
he lost a lot of points cause his yoyos fell on the flor, one even fell of the stage at the end. The contest in 4a is judged a lot by the showmanship, he had the best execution in 4a category, but he lacked a bit of smiling, jumping and other stuff, even though he had the crows screaming during the whole performance. Sadly, he lost most points in the Technical Execution (TE) part, cause of his yoyos falling and him missing a few landings. I hope he wins next year. Rei Iwakura needs to be careful and step his game up :D
@@DoCc7872 soloham overall does not score well. Judges are defiantly confused when he did that, also I think clicker system should retire or get renewed. TE no longer is relevant to the overall performance. Wish time will rewind back to 2012.
As an artist of various mediums, I understand, love and respect when one has such a great command of their skill that it flows so well that it comes across as easy. When someone can make this kind of skill and make it flow and make it look easy, it takes on a new level. I'll take smooth control over lock and pop, as we say in the rc heli community. This was an absolutely amazing and stunning routine. Thank you Hajime for this incredible performance!
1:38 yeah still back here wondering how the yellow yo-yo magically shot up into the air, there were some dark forces at play during this entire performance! Best player of all time, hands down.
As someone who understands not a shitty thing about yoyo and is here only cos the algorithy I need to state that this man is the greatests yoyo players of all the time I watch yoyo videos.
I'd say give it a few years to develop, since I doubt that many players can fill 3 full mins of soloham. I could be wrong, though, and I think eventually they should split it up.
oneofthenine823 i mean there is no reason for literally 2 world winning freestyles with the same style judged under different criteria’s , it doesnt make any sense anymore
Testament to the ineffectiveness of the current judging system. Totally mind blowing that so many judges could agree that it was fair to give him 7th. Hopefully this spurs change because competitive yoyo has so much potential.
He knew the rules and decided to go with this routine anyway! He did win. He was THE BEST. Who cares about the prizes if everyone knows he was above all others contestants anyway!
It's kind of complicated. Basically, every new element in a trick is a click, so you need to do a lot of tricks to get a higher amount of clicks. This is 60% of the score, the other 40% is evals, which look at aspects like performance, technicality, difficulty etc. Mistakes are -1 click, some major mistakes get -3 or even -5 I believe. This got 7th because this style takes a long time to bind, so other players were getting more clicks in the same amount of time than he was. He also had the big mistake at the end, which would have been a major factor because these days the scores are all so close. He did however get the highest difficulty and control scores, he was just let down by the other ones. This prompted a huge outcry because while this didn't place super well with the current judging system, it's regarded as one of the best and hardest routines ever performed on stage. This video should make it a little clearer ua-cam.com/video/zS2-kxGvvJ8/v-deo.html
Greatest yoyo player of all time, even if this didn’t win it was the biggest flex ever.
Soloham should has it own new division to avoid scoring issue like this.

Why did he snap his fingers at 1:00?
Jacob Waugh indication of mood / rhythm changing , those are maneuvers that enhance body control / showmanship score
Jacob Waugh he didn’t snap his fingers, you hear the yoyos hit each other and he just does the hand movement for performance purposes and to be cool
What is the name of this song?
