I have been a big bauer fan for years but replaced a lot of my bauer gear in the last month with ccm tacks equipment due to all this quality and fitting aspects. bauer should change priorities. 1st = quality, 2nd= quality, 3rd = invest in marketing and influencers.
This is interesting because I have the hyper lite gloves, skates and stick and love them all. I had tried ccm products prior to and found their gear was terrible. Sticks broke easily, gloves fell apart and my skates started wearing out at the ankles which I’ve never seen before. I made the switch back to Bauer and have been happy so far however I don’t have all of the hyperlite gear.
Thanks for the video and prior comments steering me away from these. I, like you, am always trying to find the perfect gear in terms of not thinking about it whatsoever when out on the ice but still have great protection. I started with almost all Bauer gear when I got back into playing hockey last year after 15 years of not playing. At this point the only Bauer gear I have and like is the X2.9 shinnies. I actually love those - they fit perfectly compared to all the CCM and Warrior ones I tried. I will possibly look into the Hyperlite shin pads later but I’m in no rush. Pretty disappointed in Bauer these days. They seem to be spending more money on rebranding and marketing than quality material and design.
Thanks for making this video. You saved me a lot of trouble. I was essentially looking to update all my equipment. I went with the Hyperlite shin guards, but everything else I stuck with the 2X and 3X line. *fist bump*
I’m just getting back into playing hockey after 12 years of not playing, and I’m loving your honest reviews. When I started looking up gear since my bag from high school is in a storage unit across the state in Montrose, all of these videos including yours started popping up, and in every other video everyone is just promoting the best most expensive gear and saying how awesome it is, and how great these flex sticks are blah, blah, blah. I played from 1994-95 in my first real league when I was 4-5yo up until 2008 when I left high school and always used used equipment. I remember playing against rich people and their teams with all the fancy new gear, and I’m still to this day a strong believer that skill outweighs expensive gear, but expensive gear could possibly give a skilled player a bigger edge. This video is exactly that because I recently just bought an entire bag off a guy who was older and taller than me for only $50 ( came with two wood sticks too but unfortunately righty’s ), and his gear is old school like what’s in my storage unit, and seems to be built better just like how older vehicles are easier to fix and built way better, but everyone buys these new fancy electronic computer ran vehicles because they think they’re better. A lot of the sticks I see are for sure better now than using an old woody, 2 piece, and even the early versions of the now dominant lite one pieces, but as far as skates and pads go I kinda believe it’s a lot of hype. I’m personally going to buy all brand new equipment here soon both a set of the cheapest CCM gear, and their most expensive gear ( I’ve just always used CCM, and I owned 1 Bauer helmet, now 2 with recent gear bag purchase ) and do a test of all 4 sets. I have my high school gear which is from around 2003-2004ish and still have my two Easton Synergy Modano sticks. I have this guys gear which is from around the same time except 2 old wood sticks, I have my friends pair of Bauer 3x skates still he lent me in 2010 or so to go creek skating around town, and then will use the new gear and new sticks. I already have a feeling I know what the outcome will be. Keep the new sticks, possibly skates and some gear, but will store the rest because it’s just hype. Just my opinion and thoughts as of now. I actually found 2 lefty’s at Goodwill a week ago for $5-6 total on sale. One’s a two piece Synergy 2 which needs a new blade, and the other is called a GEAR Hornet which I’ve never heard of or seen before, and it’s actually pretty nice and lite. Either way keep up the great video content and honesty on your actual experiences using the gear and sticks.
THANK YOU! Finally someone who isn’t bought out by new Bauer gear. The quality is lacking is a polite way is saying wear this but don’t expect it to do anything. The CCM gear in either tack or jetspeed line is way higher quality
I want to love them I have all 2s pro gear except gloves and helmet and I’m begging CCM to take my protective money and gloves and skates or true I just hate how Bauer seems to not want to consider the consumer. They know the pros rip out the liner in the glove you hate so they assume we will just buy them because name a pro wears there gear. Notice a lot of pros aren’t anymore. Great review man and sorry for the spam comments but I am so passionate to want to love tune but they keep cheating on me with garbage releases
@@adamca96 no worries this is what it’s for venting when stuff like this is out lol whoever is in charge of product development just doesn’t seem to actually use the gear in a hockey game and be like whoa this is terrible
I'd say that the last GOOD retail glove from Bauer was the initial 1X Pro, if not the APX Pro and APX2 Pro. I still rock the APX Pro or 1X Pro gloves, they seem better made and better protective than the newer gloves.
Thanks for this video, really helped me out. Funny enough, when I tried them in store before watching this video, I thought the straps were so weird as well!
Justin, thanks for the honest review; it's super important to get as unbiased an oppinion as possible for those players shopping for upgrades or are coming into the sport. It's overall really not a surprise that Bauer is marketing flimsy protective products as the overall consensus from a range of their product lines (sticks, skates etc.) definitely has been inferior quality wise (especially around sticks where CCM is pulling off great improvements in durability). I just don't get (as in "what the actual f..") why a company the size of Bauer finds it completely viable to design, produce and market protective gear like the Hyperlite series you're reviewing despite it's obvious flaws; are the designers even hockey players or are they just completely deaf to player feedback? I get it, all the companies wants to make protective gear that makes the average rec hockey player look like a f.. transformer under the jersey, so they come up with all these futuristic plastic and carbon designs, velcro strap systems and strange "this and that" flaps. In all honesty, who f.. cares? I'd argue that if you put together a group of experienced rec hockey players and were allowed to pick from all types of material etc., you'd end up with a design that was focused entirely on function rather than form. Again, who in their right minds would even consider using a shoulder velcro system as found on the Hyperlite series? (a kind reminder to the Bauer frankenshins I'm rocking, including heavy velcro modification of the CCM body armour as well) If I were you Justin, I'd use this opportunity to direct proper feedback to Bauer and remind them that there's actually growing concern about Bauer's product quality lack of awareness of what hockey players actually ask for. I see a huge opportunity for a 3rd party vendor to basically corner the entire market here. Sorry for the huge rant but I'm just getting sick of the forced product designs and "improvements"; also, you're totally spot on with the FT4 Pro series, especially for pants. I have two pairs of FT4 Pro in different colors as I play on two teams and I'd recommend them to anybody looking for lightweight, protective and especially super quick drying gear.
I appreciate the thoughts and totally agree on all of it. I’m glad you see the value in what I’m bringing to the gear review market and love seeing your takes on my videos and thoughts!
Great video, super informative! Hopefully you’ll be saving a lot of people a lot of money by not buying this garbage. It’s insane how flimsy all that top end gear is. Bauer definitely be penny pinching and cutting quality.
Thanks for sharing. I was actually very close to purchasing the hyperlite pants online but decided to stay away after seeing this video. I laughed at your review of the elbow pads because it’s all so true. What the hell is Bauer thinking with that huge pointy elbow. They did the same thing on the previous 2x pro elbow pad and it looks completely ridiculous under a jersey. I’m currently using CCM as-v pro elbow pads and they are great so far. Comfortable, solid, well made, and they don’t slide down while playing.
Thanks for the review, just wish I would have seen it earlier! Got the junior version of these for my son and while it seemed like they fit ok in the store, when he started wearing them while playing the fit was just weird. I thought for sure I was missing something, but I couldn't find any way to adjust them for a proper fit. (spoiler, there is no adjustment) The front sticks out on his chest and the back rides up really high and also sticks out. They seem to have weird seams that just don't contour to his body. A lot of money to waste, but just today he went back to his old shoulders that are way too small!
Hey Justin, I bumped into you at the hockey shop last weekend. I spent a ton of time trying on gear and I pretty much agree with everything you said in this review. Looking back I could have saved a bunch of time by just watching your videos and not driving out to Surrey LoL.
Really sad to see what bauer retail gear come to… the cost cutting from Sagard / Fairfax / whoever owns it now has gotten completely out of hand. Just awful release after awful release. Second tier brand now to CCM and warrior
I have noticed this trend with Bauer on the 2x pro line, they dropped poron inserts, 3-flex thumbs etc. Also I have x2.9 gloves and I must admit they are holding up pretty well but the quality of stitching is all over the place.
I have the old APX Vapor version of those shoulder pads and it doesn’t look like it’s changed much. I removed the bicep pad because my old Easton elbow pads would fill in that space. The clerk should have sold me a Nexus Or Supreme because the Vapor doesn’t quite fit my body profile. The padding on the inside is always damp. CCM has gotten much better in quality the last few years
the comfort edge on the pants is like the nest tech on the as v gloves. i only really feel the comfort edge on the hyperlite skates when i am doing extreme ankle skating drills
Couldn't agree more. Bauer has missed the mark since they changed their logo lol. They've gone more corporate and forgot about who they're customers are. It's become profit > everything else.
Amazing review as always! 1. I fully agree with your thoughts reg the elbow pads. It was a nightmare using my 2x pro before. Almost killed my elbows. Switched to ultrasonics and love them. Heard same stories from number of people. And here is where I start to wander where Bauer is heading with vapor line of protection? Do they have a vision no one understands?… or this is just going to be the worst protection line on a market. 2. Thanks for saving my wallet. I was thinking about buying a shoulder protection of the hyperlight. I won’t do that )) … P.S. still love 2x pro shin guards though. Best on the market in my opinion. Here is the question. I wear 14’ size of those and can’t really find same size of the hyperlight shin guards. Wander if they produce these or will start later..?!
I can’t agree with you more! I still think in general most of the older stuff is better. Example is the original Warrior Hitman elbow pads! Nothing better and more comfortable in my opinion.
Yah the good old days stuff was better built for sure. I feel like they can do what they want with lightness etc but still not have some of these issues they just didn’t try that hard
I love the 2x Pro protective line and made it my current set up. I’m like you and like Vapor for the fact it’s so light. I wore apx2 protective in college and it protected me plenty. Kind of disappointing to hear the hyperlite has been so underwhelming/poor construction. Seems they took a few steps back.
basically they go WAY too light these number of years. The shoulder pads now are like paper, with no proper shock absorption ability, despite the use of so called high-end carbon curv etc, which in my opinion can only protect against slashes.
Glad I went with the went with the ultrasonic protection. I feel like from your review I do t think I have those issues but I don’t have a comparison. Also I wanted to go for the most protection as I am not as confident of a skater.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I have the helmet and the gloves and as it was there first try at making those products I feel they fall kind of short. Had to deal with there support for some of them helmet padding which was not bad. Would look forward to some true reviews and pretty excited for the stick video that you should have coming out.
ive had problems with falling on my hip with cheap pants on and always getting bruises, i ended up getting decently priced pro stock pants and theyre great, and with how terrible these pants look i feel like i and others would have the same problem
I bought the AS1s for this exact reason. The hips and base of the spine have big D3O foam pads to help spread the impact. Definitely noticeable when I fall now, don't feel a thing.
The gloves are nice that red pad doesn’t annoy me at all. The only negative about the gloves is that sometimes my jersey gets caught in the gloves other than that I like them
I have the 1x lite shoulders and I like them but those shoulders are terrible and would be annoying AF. I have 1x pro elbows I think (maybe 2x pro), the issue I have as someone with biggish biceps/forearms but wanting something low profile, it's hard to find something that fits decent.
apparently the weird bicep guard strap was designed so you dont have to unstrap it but i dont know anyone who unstraps their chest part strap but doesnt unstrap their bicep guard
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Well, after two months a small piece at the bottom inside of the shin guard broke off. These are going back to Pure Hockey and I'll be getting the CCM FT4's or Pro's. #bauerblowingit
Does this also apply to shins? You’d reviewed them earlier and that review was very positive? Or was it just an early impression that changed over time and hyperlite shins are also garbage?
Bummer to hear about Bauer. I appreciate the honest feedback though of course, and for always keeping it real. Are you planning on picking up the Sync anytime soon?
Nice review, definitely stopped me from getting the hyperlite, love good honest reviews Just wondering if you are planning on trying out the true catalyst 9x gloves? Been told they have more mobility and comfort then any other glove currently out, the only negative was it has a little less protection in the cuff from some reviews I have seen
Yes, the gloves suck. Exactly what you're saying. I have to pull my hand in and out of the glove as I'm playing. And its not just the hyperlite. Its all of the vapor gloves. Not a big fan of the ultrasonic glove because its fitted too tight at the palm. I wish they made gloves with tightly fitted fingers and open cuff.
That would be a sweet glove. Fit is of course preference but I prefer a close fitting glove but would be nice to have what you’re saying. But yep in end the hyperlite glove is awful
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews awesome, thanks! You mentioned you actually liked them though compared to the hyperlites though eh? You saved me a couple hundred bucks, thank you sir
@@RyzenCaptures yes the hyperlite is a downgrade in quality. I like the tight fit of the ultrasonic and Mach glove stays on my hand doesn’t move around
Ok so….As much as I appreciate your efforts and the excellent video you made, I must say I have never disagreed more with a review! I think there is a lack of understanding in what Bauer is looking to accomplish with their different lines. You are not a vapor line guy at all but you are clearly a supreme line guy! So my guess is with the shoulder pads that the bicep guard is for players like myself that wish they could remove it completely. I hate Restrictive equipment. I want the absolute latest equipment on the market and top performance. I know I will never get the quality and longevity in the gear I’m looking for and I understand it’s a choice… Especially with skates and sticks… I actually cut the cuff out of my gloves. (Unless they are eagle X 50s from 20 years ago with the massive open cuff) I currently use the bauer 2n pro with the adjustable cuff and cut the cuff out of every pair. The 2X pro line was by far better for me than the 1x 2x pro is my favorite Bauer line ever. As a 6’4 240lb man still playing high-level tournament hockey for ice & roller but at my age protection is becoming a concern and the 2x elbow guards are much more protective when falling on roller. Ice the 1x was fine but for roller I almost broke my elbow 2-3 times and upgraded to the 2x pro and haven’t had a problem again. It’s at full speed when a stick gets caught in your skates and you land all your weight on your elbow type of situations where you really test the equipment. That is the reason for the massive bulge, that interior space is the protection rather than a ton of extra padding which increases weight. I do agree with it bunching my jersey. Lastly The material that you’re speaking of is made not to absorb the sweat keeping bacteria and smell to a minimum by Being a protective layer between the sweat and the more absorbing materials
All good we can agree to disagree that’s the Beauty of it. Overall I always liked the Vapor line protective through the years but it did go side ways as time went on. The 2xpro elbows started that weird trend and they were awful. Your explanation on the bludgeoned is weird ccm and true and others don’t use that and I’ve never hurt my elbow falling on my pads. Making a bicep guard terribly in case you remove it is weird, the material being a spounge is weird as ccm doesn’t do that and the pants floating system digs into your sides. Over all it’s just not great but if you like it awesome man it’s all subjective anyway
Since I saw the first leaks that the branding would be Hyperlite I new the whole line was going to be terrible because if they have to name something like that, it's probably not any good. But people will still buy it because it says Hyperlite and is 'in style'. At least they fixed the terrible palms on the gloves, but other than that it looks like they just took the 2X Pro gloves and messed around with them. Same with the elbow pads. I think you should try to get a pair of QR5 Pro gloves as they look to be pretty good. They have a flex cuff as well which I think you'd like. One more thing is that I think some acoustic panels would be a good improvement in your recording room. You can get them for fairly cheap on Amazon.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I bought the hyperlite gloves around 2 weeks ago and they seem good, they are pretty light. I don't have the same problem as you had with the liner coming out with your hand, it might be that I have an int glove and you have an sr glove. Also it could be that you just got a bad pair.
Interestingly enough, the Hyperlite branding came from Easton's products back in 2015. The Hyperlite foams that Bauer is using is the same as the Hyperlite foams Easton had used in their Stealth CX protective gear. Bauer even kept the same Hyperlite logo that Easton was using. So in terms of tech, it's not totally new.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I have the hyperlite gloves, the pad coming out hasn’t happened to me, but the quality is not there. The design is way different on each glove too and I payed 250 for them
Personally I agree with his review on the shoulder pads and the elbow pads pants are meh but I’ve never found a great pair of pants they all suck. I disagree with the review on the gloves though. I have both the ccm gloves and these bauer’s and the hyperlites are way more comfortable dry faster and hold onto odour way less. When it comes to gloves I always say try on at least 3 pairs of the same glove because they aren’t all made equally. Sounds like he got a bad pair imo. Gloves come down to preference mostly and for me the hyperlite gloves are great.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews personal preference is huge when it comes to protective I agree. Personally love the feel of the gloves as someone who stick handles a lot it’s nice to feel like nothing is on your hands. Anyway big fan of the channel thanks for all the informative reviews!
@@daveconnolly1776 yeah I’m the end I do my best to describe what I like and don’t like in hopes that helps someone make a decision on their own if those things matter to them or not. Thanks appreciate the support
Been out of town and just saw this video. I was cracking up when I saw it because I bought the 3X Pro shoulder pads, used them once and returned them! Lol. They were light but interfered with every piece of gear it touched and felt like it was made out of an Igloo styrofoam cooler. Hot garbage for sure. Yet another reason to stick with my old RBK protective. Weighs 100 pounds but fits great.
Yeah man after a few skates I was like god I hate these. So since I have you I also tried on the as-v skate and I couldn’t do it. Weird pressure points and they were so clunky I just couldn’t justify it for a review and never make them my gamers.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Yeah I was worried you might think that about the ASV Pros. It’s a tough transition if you’re a Bauer guy. I think some of what you don’t like is actually the stiffness but it’s irrelevant. Have tried them, the Ribcor 100K Pros and obviously my FT4 Pros, the FT4s are the clear winner based upon a fair amount of feedback. I still think you’re a Bauer guy but you might try the Jetspeeds for fun if you see them around. You might stick your foot in the TRUE Catalyst skate too. I personally hate TRUE skates since having two custom pairs and one that gave me a permanent toe injury but some people love them.
@@mongillohockey yeah maybe will try a jet speed as well when I get a chance but it’s to bad. Skates are a really hard one plus expensive and don’t wanna make that purchase if not gonna work.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Totally understand. This is why my channel talks a lot about retail and custom skates. It’s really tough to commit to skates due to cost and the break in time required.
I'm happy that all my Bauer equipment from the last 10 years will last me forever. All this new Bauer crap is lesser quality with an inflated price tag. It's such a letdown.
I think you missed the “point” of the elbow pads….pun intended. That “point” is for knocking players out when you are sideswiping across the face of the player you dislike. Seems like Bauer wants players to get hurt, wether it’s from the elbow pads or the overall lack of protection of the equipment line Cutting costs on materials Horrendous Brand logo Major selllout It’s a shame cuz this video kinda opened my eyes a little bit. I’m 41 now, I gave up hockey almost 20yrs ago due to marriage and new family of 5 kids. The sport I passionately loved and seriously thought I was Pro material but my parents wouldn’t let me on travel team due to their work schedules. It’s emotionally a love/hate sport for me now. Now I’m forcing my kids to take the reigns for me 🤣 got 1 kid to like it so far. I happened to randomly ordered my first one piece stick from Dicks several years back to see what the hype is, that stick is CCM 9080 Tacks. I kinda impressed coming from Z-Bubbles but I don’t know about the quality of the higher ends, like Ultrasonic. Especially I’m hearing Nexus Geo is trash, not durable? I’m a Easton fanboy here. CCM was my least favorite. I thought Warrior but I don’t know now. It may be CCM I do not like Bauer’s new logo. What’s is it!? Triangle? Upside down 4? Elon Musk’s Space logo? Early 2000’s gangsta “b”? It’s a shame cuz I REALLY DO LIKE THE LOOK OF their Mach skates…..
Lol this is funny. Least 1 kid is in and you can live through them lol. Yah the logo is pretty divisive eh. guess they dont really do any focus groups on their recenet decisions to get feedback lol
bummer to hear about your hyperlite issues. as far as gear goes, ill never buy retail pants again- mainly because of issues like these. I've had a couple pairs of pro stock pants and they're just much better overall. i suggest you check out CCM's HP45 pants. great protection, simple and very very lightweight. they're very popular in the NHL. I have a pair and love them.
Not gonna lie. Never been a fan of their protective gear and goalie gear. Always felt like they were made out of recycled diapers. The Skates on the other hand are 🔥
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I love it. I'm mainly a goalie but prior wore SuperTacks AS1 player gear. The Sherwood is way nice. Even with their Viconic impact protection pieces. Their competition with the D30. Taken shots off the pants and knees and only felt a push to the legs. No pain.
I guess I’m the only one that noticed you spreading your hand as you pull out of your glove. That’s probably your issue with the pad coming out of the glove lol.
Lol no I take my hand out of my glove every time on the bench this would be on example on camera. These are also very loose for a 14 and still does it. Pad is terribly designed
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews lol you're missing the point. Literally no one spreads their hand & tries to flick the pad out like you are. Maybe the gear is bad, maybe it's not for you, but with you doing that with the glove makes your review a little sus. You're literally trying to pull that pad out with your hand. Guarantee that you can do that with any glove.
havent noticed the wet glove thing at all with my hyperlites. also why the hell r u taking ur glove on and off all game bro what? i think some of u beer leaguers dont understand what preformance products are
This is why you always take these reviews with a grain of salt, everyone is so much different than the next guy and i’ll explain why. I have these hyperlite pants, have been using them for 4 months now 6 days a week and there the best, most comfortable pants i’ve ever owned. I came from the CCM super tacks which in retrospect really aren’t far off from the current CCM ASV’s so i have experience with CCM’s but i just don’t think there up to par with the hyperlites (and yes i tried on the ASV Pro’s before i purchased the hyperlights) It’s weird that this guy gets apparently so wet in this liner that’s particularly ment to wick away moisture, which it does, (i’ve never had a problem with these being wet whatsoever) i got an idea, maybe stop falling, you probably spending to much time on your ass if your getting “soaking wet” in these pants, try taping your ankles bro bro and to top it off the floating back piece and straps don’t bother me at all, even my inside pieces hold there shape fine so idk if you got the worst pair ever coincidentally but these are the best pants i’ve ever used and i’ve played AAA ice hockey my whole life so The only thing i will agree with you on is the fact that the straps in the front do kinda just bog around and sit there, there really should be somewhere to tuck them in or some shit, kinda lame but far af from being a deal breaker by any means
Subjective it is but I still have the pants and shoulders and they are still terrible so many better options out there. They don’t hold shape at all. Very weird material and design. The pants are better than the rest of the gear, so I can see how you don’t mind them but my god the shoulders are probably the worst I ever have had
Looks so cheap and ugly, I especially hate the gloves. The 1X line from like 2018 or so looked so nice compared to the stuff today. Doesn't even have stitching on the top end gloves, wtf?
it's honestly pathetic from bauer. compared to top end stuff from the apx/nxg/mx3 era it looks VISIBLY cheaper, and it's obvious they've stopped investing in any actually innovative protective materials. a crime they sell their stuff for the kind of money they do.
Oh man hopefully you like em. I’m still wearing them as I’m Waiting for new gear releases in June but they have not held shape at all get super soaked and just aren’t my fav unfortunately
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews good to know. I also hated the elbow pads having the cone so going with the CCM ones but do like the hyperlite shin guards. I’m trying to get the least weight on me.

THANK YOU! Finally someone who isn’t bought out by new Bauer gear. The quality is lacking is a polite way is saying wear this but don’t expect it to do anything. The CCM gear in either tack or jetspeed line is way higher quality
Just feels like Bauer is phoning it in and resting on their laurels
The old 37.5 material and foams breathed way better and dried properly
@@adamca96 it’s phoned in for sure they need to fire their r and d department
I want to love them I have all 2s pro gear except gloves and helmet and I’m begging CCM to take my protective money and gloves and skates or true
I just hate how Bauer seems to not want to consider the consumer.
Agreed old 1x stuff was decent then this happens
Thanks for this video, really helped me out. Funny enough, when I tried them in store before watching this video, I thought the straps were so weird as well!
Excellent I’m
Glad
(a kind reminder to the Bauer frankenshins I'm rocking, including heavy velcro modification of the CCM body armour as well)
If I were you Justin, I'd use this opportunity to direct proper feedback to Bauer and remind them that there's actually growing concern about Bauer's product quality lack of awareness of what hockey players actually ask for.
Yeah I hope people see it before deciding to buy and make the decision if they want to put up with what I put in the video.
Yeah I used to have the 2xpro and was so weird looking and caught my jersey. The as-v is an excellent elbow
It’s tough with her it’s best to re search and gets a couple thoughts shen it comes to things

I have noticed this trend with Bauer on the 2x pro line, they dropped poron inserts, 3-flex thumbs etc. Also I have x2.9 gloves and I must admit they are holding up pretty well but the quality of stitching is all over the place.
Yah stitching is bad everywhere
For myself I think the warrior protective gear is the best. I use the alpha protective line and I am super happy.
I think that line is excellent as well
I have the old APX Vapor version of those shoulder pads and it doesn’t look like it’s changed much. I removed the bicep pad because my old Easton elbow pads would fill in that space. The clerk should have sold me a Nexus Or Supreme because the Vapor doesn’t quite fit my body profile. The padding on the inside is always damp.
CCM has gotten much better in quality the last few years
Hasn’t no, it’s been awhile since Vapor protective has been good. I prefer the fr4 pro from ccm for this gear style
the comfort edge on the pants is like the nest tech on the as v gloves. i only really feel the comfort edge on the hyperlite skates when i am doing extreme ankle skating drills

You should do a ft4 pro vs asv video because I can’t see anyone buying Bauer stuff that isn’t ultrasonic would love to hear your thoughts
would love to but dont have the ft4pro stuff any more, have to sell to at least buy some new gear.
That’s sad. I like my 2S Pro pads, although the elbows stay wet for days. Why do they make such huge changes when updating?
They attempted weight reduction but really didn’t do it well. Hopefully this summer the hyp2lite protective makes improvements
Couldn't agree more. Bauer has missed the mark since they changed their logo lol. They've gone more corporate and forgot about who they're customers are. It's become profit > everything else.
yeah its been disapointing. they really need to go back to the drawing board
I will keep my 2SPRO setup then. Hi have the Hyperlite helmet and love it with the titanium cage.
didnt get the helmet as it came out around some lock downs so at the time was like cant justify it, glad you like it
Amazing review as always!
I won’t do that )) …
P.S. still love 2x pro shin guards though. Best on the market in my opinion. Here is the question. I wear 14’ size of those and can’t really find same size of the hyperlight shin guards. Wander if they produce these or will start later..?!
I noticed the 14 in the hyperlite is called intermedite so that could be why you cant find them yet, sizing everywhere just not that available.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thanks, I’ll have a look at those.
@@АлександрСеркин-ы7е no worries
Yes the older Vapor was money. This not so much lol
basically they go WAY too light these number of years. The shoulder pads now are like paper, with no proper shock absorption ability, despite the use of so called high-end carbon curv etc, which in my opinion can only protect against slashes.

I know what you mean, it sucks to fall on you hips back , i bought the Jetspeed Ft1 pants and its solide all around pants . 👌
Yes good call on the prostock I had a injury when I first started playing from smashing the boards on my hip it’s no fun.
I bought the AS1s for this exact reason. The hips and base of the spine have big D3O foam pads to help spread the impact. Definitely noticeable when I fall now, don't feel a thing.
The gloves are nice that red pad doesn’t annoy me at all. The only negative about the gloves is that sometimes my jersey gets caught in the gloves other than that I like them
Mine also weren’t very durable but comes with the light weight glad you like em
I have the 1x lite shoulders and I like them but those shoulders are terrible and would be annoying AF. I have 1x pro elbows I think (maybe 2x pro), the issue I have as someone with biggish biceps/forearms but wanting something low profile, it's hard to find something that fits decent.
I also liked the 1x gear
apparently the weird bicep guard strap was designed so you dont have to unstrap it but i dont know anyone who unstraps their chest part strap but doesnt unstrap their bicep guard

Probably not as I try and stick with very current releases so there is some view potential. Appreciate the comment!
Would you consider the Supreme Mach gloves as an improvement over the Ultrasonics?
Not really. Same basic premise.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews awesome, thanks! You mentioned you actually liked them though compared to the hyperlites though eh? You saved me a couple hundred bucks, thank you sir

You’re welcome thanks for checking it out
Ok so….As much as I appreciate your efforts and the excellent video you made, I must say I have never disagreed more with a review!
Over all it’s just not great but if you like it awesome man it’s all subjective anyway
you can remove some of the bicep guard of some older vapor shoulder pads that arent designed like BS
@@DumbOrangeFrog I find that weird but to each there own
Since I saw the first leaks that the branding would be Hyperlite I new the whole line was going to be terrible because if they have to name something like that, it's probably not any good.

Interestingly enough, the Hyperlite branding came from Easton's products back in 2015. This is why you always take these reviews with a grain of salt, everyone is so much different than the next guy and i’ll explain why. I have these hyperlite pants, have been using them for 4 months now 6 days a week and there the best, most comfortable pants i’ve ever owned. I came from the CCM super tacks which in retrospect really aren’t far off from the current CCM ASV’s so i have experience with CCM’s but i just don’t think there up to par with the hyperlites (and yes i tried on the ASV Pro’s before i purchased the hyperlights) It’s weird that this guy gets apparently so wet in this liner that’s particularly ment to wick away moisture, which it does, (i’ve never had a problem with these being wet whatsoever) i got an idea, maybe stop falling, you probably spending to much time on your ass if your getting “soaking wet” in these pants, try taping your ankles bro bro and to top it off the floating back piece and straps don’t bother me at all, even my inside pieces hold there shape fine so idk if you got the worst pair ever coincidentally but these are the best pants i’ve ever used and i’ve played AAA ice hockey my whole life so
The only thing i will agree with you on is the fact that the straps in the front do kinda just bog around and sit there, there really should be somewhere to tuck them in or some shit, kinda lame but far af from being a deal breaker by any means
Subjective it is but I still have the pants and shoulders and they are still terrible so many better options out there. They don’t hold shape at all. Very weird material and design. it's honestly pathetic from bauer. compared to top end stuff from the apx/nxg/mx3 era it looks VISIBLY cheaper, and it's obvious they've stopped investing in any actually innovative protective materials. a crime they sell their stuff for the kind of money they do.
YeH those lines were so much better and well built
Tackla pants
Never tried em! Will check em out forgot they even made them lol
5:11 you didnt even have to flex to show
Oh I have to flex 💪
I just bought the shoulder pads 😅
Oh man hopefully you like em. I’m still wearing them as I’m
Waiting for new gear releases in June but they have not held shape at all get super soaked and just aren’t my fav unfortunately
you should check all the comments, i have a few unreplied comments, you can delete this comment when you are done repling to the other comments
If you keep comments to one thread easier for me to see and reply UA-cam isn’t best at giving me all notifications
You are paying for the low weight
1x and 1x lite were light but far better lines
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews good to know. I also hated the elbow pads having the cone so going with the CCM ones but do like the hyperlite shin guards. I’m trying to get the least weight on me.
@@Seektruth-59 yeah I’ve used so much gear over the years I can compare and see progress or regression. Good call
On your choice I hate the cone on elbows too
Made. In. China. Or Thailand, who cares. Everything you discuss revolves around cheap materials. Sadly there's less choice for skaters than goalies but at least it's cheaper for you guys to make a mistake.
True id be super pissed if I was a goalie and my 1500$ chest pads were junk 😳
Ya those look like junk
That they are lol
