- The English rock and roll band "The Wild Angels" was formed in the summer of 1967 and got their name from the 1966 Roger Corman movie "The Wild Angels" starring Peter Fonda. The band currently consists of Keith Read (guitar, vocals), Paul Black (guitar, vocals), Mitch Mitchell (bass guitar, vocals), Freddie "Babyface" Pirotta (piano) and "Wild" Bob Burgos (drums, vocals). The original band members were Mal Gray, John Hawkins, John Huggett, Mitch Mitchell, Bill Kingston and Bob O'Connor.
After releasing their first songs "Nervous Breakdown" and "Watch the Wheels Go Round", the band signed with B&C records in 1969. Other popular songs of the band are "I Fought the Law", "Love's Made A Fool of You", "Roll Over Beethoven", "Jo Jo Ann" and "Brand New Cadillac".
When they signed with Decca Records in 1972, they also released three songs from the musical "Grease", which had not yet been staged in the UK. These songs were "Beauty School Dropout", "Born to Hand Jive" and "Greased Lightnin'".
Spotlight was a music programme for young people broadcast by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) between 1968 and 1978. It was the equivalent of Beat Club or Musikladen in Germany.
