- Major General BS Dhanoa (Retired) was commissioned into the Armoured Corps in Dec 1983.
He last served in the Army’s premier institution, the Army War College, where his primary role was the mentoring and education of future military leaders of the Armed Forces.
He also commanded an armoured brigade and an infantry division on the Western Borders. His passion is to write and speak on Military Leadership, Operational Art and the Future of Conflict.
He believes in the principle "Leadership is what happens when you are not there".

Gen Sahab good evening.Very good to see you alongwith Gen Dhanoa. .He was my CO during 2004 to 2004 . And you were also commanding the Unit of brigade of Guard at same time.we enjoyed the command of Gen Dhanoa .I would say His commucation skills, professionalism,hard working and dedication towards the duty .I never saw any officers except Gen Dhanoa.

Sir what are the requirements for an officer to for these courses ? Can a special force officer apply for this ?
For some courses, like DSSC, there are entrance exams. And to answer your question, SF officers can attend these courses. Some of the courses like YO are mandatory for all officers.

Army exam ke liye kuch kro plzzzzzz 🛐
As a student of public administration, I get to study a lot of military administrative thinkers who later joined the public enterprises and contributed an enormous corpus of subject material for the subject. Now, this has indeed piqued my interest in military leadership of my own country which I am sorry to say is not that impressive as I thought it would be.
Most of them have the same boring story of family traditions to join the military with almost zero struggle, you know cashing the caste, family, lineage and other societal privilege cards. Needless to mention the high and mighty traditions of past colonial practices etc etc.
I am on the other hand a product of simple menial municipality school, from a very low caste, and no mentorship from no one, not even family support made myself a medical doctor and have most natural, far far better abilities of communication, leadership, management, public speaking which I can't brag about out of humility 😉
If you are interested in military history, you should read them. That’s where Indian military leadership shines. Outside this narrow field, most ex military generals have tough time adjusting to civvy street. I would suggest you read about gen hanut singh, gen sundarji to name a few. Their armoured doctrines and the way Indian army fights is based on their own independent work.
