- The Gil's Arena crew gets HYPED around the New York Knicks' new starting 5. After acquiring Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and returning the rest of their starters. They are going to be a force to deal with in the Eastern Conference according to Gilbert Arenas and Rashad McCants. Josiah Johnson wants to know who is going to finish the game for the New York Knicks in the playoffs. Donte DiVincenzo, Julius Randle, Josh Hart, and Jalen Brunson will all be names that will close out games.

I actually expect a lot of early season struggles. First month will be really tough since thibs will be trying a bunch of different lineups. Health will be a big point and now having 3 primary scoring options and who can pass, it may make sense at times to run the 1 through bridges and move Brunson to the 2 and offball. He can focus on the Nova cuts and be part of the backdoor action like hart and donte did. I don't see us really stabilizing until the middle or end of the in season tournament with different lineup variations. I honestly think the only teams capable of challenging us for a finals run (across all teams and assuming all healthy) are the wolves, okc and Celtics. I don't think anybody else really leveled up enough to pose a real 7 game series challenge against a healthy Knicks squad or at least a team that doesn't lose every single player
Josh Hart has always been so underrated. He plays hard on both sides of the ball and almost always makes the right play
If we're talking our best offensive lineup though, it would be Brunson, DiVincenzo, Bridges, OG, Randle.
Josh Hart makes occasional bone head plays. But you live with it BC of everything else he contributes. Similar to Ginobli

The Knicks will never escape the 2nd round until Thibbs adjusts his coaching style. He must (intentionally) play more than just 7 or 8 guys during the playoffs.
Unfortunately, Thibbs always waits until people get injured before giving bench players more playing time. But the Knicks cannot expect to beat the top teams like that.
Look at the Celtics, for example: This year, they had 8 guys who sank at least 100 (or more) 3-pointers during the regular season... which means they play ALOT of guys on their bench to accomplish that.
The Knicks will not beat the Celtics by only playing 7 or 8 players. Fatigue will set in.
That's gonna be one hell of a great defensive team.

What playoffs you speak off cause from my understanding he didn’t show up in 1 playoff appearance and that’s his very first against the hawks. He was hurt last playoffs and reinjured his ankle that he got surgery on. So please when you say he doesn’t show up make it make sense.

Knicks still need bigs to get past embiid, turner, or boston. Has the front office not learned ? Good moves but you still need to address enough security at the big man position. 76ers got 3 big for rotation. They got embiid,drummond, and bamba. Pacers got turner, and wiseman. Randle is good but cannot hang with embiid in a playoff series, especially wiyh embiids dirty tactics. Embiid literally tried to take out robinson's feet last year. Robinson the only big body nyk has. Nyk needs to trade for big bodies to put on embiid, and any other bigs. Robinson is not enough. Hes also injury prone, and has no offensive moves.

What other bigs do the knicks have ? Hartenstein walked. Sims is undersized. Sure we have good chemistry and good wings and gaurds, but it goes back to need for insurance in the paint. If you double embiid with two wings due to no quality paint protection, the sixers will always have a shooter open for embiid to pass to.

I'm a Celtics fan and I can't wait to see the Knicks starting five
I expect donte to start so he can see if he can get hot early or mid game (I.e. Starting 2nd and 3rd likely if we need a run).
Hart definitely finishing the 4th like we saw in the playoffs where even if he isn't the primary scoring option he causes creates chaos that seems to go towards Knicks favor.
I hope we keep OG at 25 to 30 mins a game for the first half of the season so he can try to finish healthier but not rusty.
Iron man players like hart and Mikal are gonna get 35 to 40 mins
Randle, Brunson will depend on what we need at the time and matchups.
If the team doesn't have a big, we're going small with Randle post ups. If they have a good big, then it's a Brunson / mikal show.
The biggest thing nobody is talking about is the blitz we saw all post season and end of last season is going to be much, much harder now. Go ahead and double Brunson but then we still have another primary scoring option in bridges, Randle who can both playmake.
It's a tough, tough team and I also expect mitch to stay low most of the season between 20-25 mins to also try to stay healthy since he can't move fast enough for most bigs in the league but is perfect against embiid or gobert with size and strength. Opens up hart to get the rebound, which might be more difficult now since harts defender won't go for thr Brunson blitz but he showed he can make it work at his size

Robinson has always played Embiid well. There is a reason why Embiid went for his ankles.🙄 Mitch dominated a healthy Allen and Mobley. The only centers that give him issue are Prozingis and Bam. But since he doesn't take threes people love to overlook him. Add in the fact that those of two of the players he trained with before maybe an issue for him. Porzingis was the first Knick to mentor Mitch as Porzingis backup.
