Well he does always say, "Up before the enemy." and I would consider the alarm clock an enemy.

Plucky -usually used to describe someone who is daring, willing to risk, has spirit..."a plucky horse"...unflinching- "She was the pluckiest player." Nuance difference to brave..closer meaning to courage which is derived from cor (heart in Latin) the act connected to feelings and passion as well as action. Words are tools/instruments-this master author chooses his carefully. Fine choice to spur discussion for this podcast. Thank you.

Jocko would you speak about Braddah Seth stone, my nephew from SWCC told me you are always present at every brothers funeral. It's nice that Honor, Loyalty, and Respect has true measure and a sense of grit. Alot of lip service goes around but few realize how important this is in revitalizing american people. But yeah that would be great to hear about Seth's attainments. Once again Aloha&Mahalo Uncle Duke.🏄

@Jocko the one about the river: the point is that you don't put your self in a situation you don't have mastery over.
Regarding the point about seeking death, it's twofold. You are seeking the death of the enemy, and you are seeking acceptance of your own death. In the later case it's more accurate to say you are not avoiding your own death but I think since avoiding death is the norm, that is why seeking death is used.

An 8 minute mile is pretty fast, especially for a civilian like myself. My fastest mile was 6:15 when I used to train for football and that was only one mile never mind 4; I had an average 5k of about 22 minutes but I’d typically be gassed by the end of it.

Because they were superior to us overall. Mankind is devolving educationally, physically, intellectually, morally, spiritually, socially, politically, etc. Individually and collectively we are regressing. This podcast is one of the bright spots in the world precisely because it runs counter to the prevailing trends in society today. God bless Jocko for being a champion of light in a rapidly darkening world.

I think when he speaks confidently and in absolutes its quite helpful to the podcast. But when he uses filler words and stumbles through a simple sentence trying to cover multiple angles its annoying.

echo is strongest when discussing jiu-jitsu. I get the vibe that jocko is growing a bit impatient with some of his contributions when trying to expand on already succinct points.
