- The South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center's Building Resilient Communities presents this webinar featuring Dr. Joaquin Murrieta-Saldivar speaking on "Community Resilience to Climate Change: From Treats to Community Empowerment" and Flor Sandoval speaking on "Promoting Economic Justice in Rainwater Harvesting". This webinar occurred on October 18th, 2022.
Dr. Joaquin Murrieta-Saldivar: Through several years of community experience and natural solutions, Joaquin is creating a culture for restoration and adaptation to extreme weather conditions in the borderlands region of the Sonoran Desert. Joaquin is a graduate of the University of Arizona with MSc in Natural Resources and Agricultural Economics and a PhD in Renewable Natural Resources Studies with an emphasis on management, policy and economics of natural resources.
Flor Sandoval started as a volunteer at SERI in 2009 and is now the Program Director, overseeing the day-to-day operations of SERI programs and projects. She enjoys working with the community in creating a sustainable and safe place for all.
Flor has a B.S. in Business Administration in Marketing and a minor in Global Business through the University of Arizona Eller College of Management. During her time at SERI, she has received multiple trainings from various organizations including, but not limited to, HUD, EPA, and OSHA. She also serves as the water conservation specialist at the Landscaping Advisory Committee for the City of Tucson.
