HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it??????.

STEEL FOR MY FRIEND
I keep all my steel and cast iron pieces and I give them to my friend and once he gets about a tonne from me and his own collecting he takes that to the scrapyard and sells it then he buys some beer and comes over to my house and we make a night of it.
No My friend doesn’t have a UA-cam channel he just scraps metal in his spare time.

@@AceBullion Hey, don't you know that Australia is home to some of the deadliest spiders in the world. Red Back spiders, Funnel Web spiders, White Tip spiders, you have to be careful when opening up ideal places for spiders to live.
Only thing I hate about this videos is that no beer brand has sponsored this legend of a man!
ya
Agreed 👍
Yes
Yeah we are sponsored by the furnace but not the beer?
CMON i know they really are not likey to sponsor because they i guess don't.trust youtube BUT CMON!
@neo toad town uh no
Just a pfp
*If you wanna see a true hacker find someone who Is the best of the best*
I never imagined that watching casting videos could be so relaxing.
The best: the set, with its little details (Ingot, the ice, breaking the ice, walks around the house ...). Thanks.
0:55 "I sprayed it and wrapped it in case it was full of spiders." Huh? Oh, yeah. Australia.
spiders in Australia are the equivalent of American snakes - get bit, it may not kill you but your job, house, and car are gone to pay the medical bills, and the rest of your life is going to be living in a dumpster begging for food....
@@Debbiebabe69 Maybe in the states, but medical bills are free over here...
hmm, maybe do you mean " 'STRAYA!!!"?
Heh, gotta love Australia.
@@Debbiebabe69 That maybe the unfortunate case in the USA, but here in Australia we have Medicare and you can still find Doctors who "Bulk Bill" meaning that you never pay for the visit. Specialists are a different story but there is also a safety net. Hospital is free too. COVID -19, no charge as it is a public health matter.
@User Name Exactly what I was about to say.
There's something a bit ironic about melting down a heat sink.
Couch pillow quit trying to STEEL the limelight 😂

Or make his own.
he might melt them all into a massive one
can't wait. i've subscribed
Were about to see
With how cheap youtube is getting toward their content creators, it will probably be plastic.
I have cast a few things, I am a geologist, a blacksmith and I LOVE the look of molten metal. However, Ingot has stolen my heart! I love that cute little Frenchie! He is so cute that my wife, who happens to love Frenchies, watches BigstackedD with me. Ingot is so sweet! I love drinking a cold IPA or Burbon and putting my feet up while you and your pal fire up the foundry. Love what you do. Cheers, Mate!
Cheers buddy 👊🏻😁🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Saw this and thought, "why is he so worried about spiders?" Then I saw the AU flag in his garage and went "oh, that's why."
Lmao 😆🤣
Was going to say the same
Australia where everyone is a criminal, beer flows freely, and everything wants to kill you, if you think about it makes sense why the British Empire made is a penal colony
@@bountyhuntermaster2896 Everything on that continent will either bite you, stab you or stick you. Most of those things are poisonous to a greater or lessor degree.
I'm an Australian and this comment genuinely made me stop and think for the first time in my life about how people elsewhere in the world must live their lives without assuming that anything they come across outside could be full of spiders. Wild.
Seeing all those bars stacked after melting all that down must be such a good felling. I felt satisfied just watching it, I can't imagine the feeling of having done it.
His Wife: You’ve melted down half our house
Him: Yea, but here’s a copper heart
Her: okay this makes up for everything, I'll just put the heart along with the other ones you made me......
She’s definitely packin more then him
After the trip to the dentist office cuz she found some treats on her pillow...BSD got a black E Y E.
Wow! Amazing amount of aluminum in that thing!
Imagine if he melted her wedding ring 😭😂
I'm supposed to learn English but I can't stop watching this....
Yes👌🏻 keep on watching my friend😁
Lol
Nice job
I feel like this man is extremely stress free. Smashing aluminum to bits looks like an amazing stress release. 😅
Amen to that !
I love how shiny aluminum (aluminium) is when poured and when it's polished.
Awesome vid man!
always a pleasure and a relaxing feeling to watch his videos.
Best thing on the line, besides porn of course.😊
Porn is good🤘
there's definitely something about asmr...watching the video without having to listen to someone run their yap is priceless....
One man's trash is another man's treasure. I enjoy watching you turn scrap parts into metal ingots because they just get so much life back. The fact that you're taking something that was doomed to rot in a landfill somewhere and breaking it down into valuable (and gorgeous) metal ingots is a sort of inspiration for me. I wish there was an industry around what you do, heck, maybe you are the pioneering it right now :)
thats a damn good quality shelf right there, never going to buckle
Strongest shelves ever respect ✊
👊🏻😁
I thought the exact same thing
i wonder what are they made of
Its the metal holding it up
@@vincentmchale30
Vibranium
It is amazing the amount of metal used in what seems to be a "light" floodlight assembly!
Great stuff to watch!
For a split second I thought, "Sprayed and wrapped in case of spiders" - a bit over the top, isn't it? Then, I remembered where you are! Good thinkin'! Brilliant melt - as always!
I’m pretty sure this is when I started watching. I’m going back through all of them and have caught up to this point. Best channel to binge!
At first I was going "whats the big deal about spiders?" But forgot this is in Australia and you guys have some freaky arachnids so good on ya and spray the shiznit out of it. Nice find!
Yeah, spiders in Australia are dangerous and no joke. There is the Red Back spider, the Funnel Web spider and the White Tip spider and possibly a few other dangerous ones.
Fuck that into the furnace...
@@markfryer9880 You forgot the Huntsman which causes some people to crash their car when they see one run across their windscreen.
@@mickm6309 yes, that nearly happened to me one time as a passenger in a friend's car. We were sitting at traffic lights when the spider appeared and scared the bejezuz out of my friend. She screamed and her foot slipped off the brake and we started to move forward into cross traffic. Fortunately she slammed on the brakes again. I was more shaken by the car jerking around. If a spider appears in my car I just note where it is and find somewhere safe to pull over.
I like that it was a heart and not a skull :)
Those lights are expensive, and that one seemed to be in good shape, but I must admit it's satisfying to see it melt.
It just hit me, the Slag Spoon is cleaner than I've seen in most US restaurants haha
i can't wait for this guy to reach 1mil,he makes quality content and he is innovative i wish there were more like him,not just scam videos stretched to be 10 minutes long, keep on doing what you love,Peace.
People: comes here for ASMR bigstackD: breaks metal with his hands
I didn't realize a lot of people watch for asmr, but now that you mention it, it is
Which makes me realize that how to basic is also technically asmr
Thank you for saving nature with recycling and informative content. Please keep doing.
That was a microwave sulfur lamp omg. I would love to have one myself, it's kinda rare.
Yeah it hurt when he just ignored the electronics. He also just mixed zinc and aluminium.
What a waste. Well, what you would not do for those views.
joob Same. So in tribute I will be melting my magnetron and my transformers
I wasn't the only one who saw ans cried!!! Its such a beautiful piece of electronics. But hey, its probably broken and it makes this guy happy so I'm not knocking it
*Never heard of a microwave sulfur lamp before. I was wondering why a 'floodlight' had a magnetron inside!*
Always find it amazing how much we toss out. Recycling unwanted metals into useful materials is awesome.
8:17 guys trying to pee in the morning
That light was made of alot more Aluminium then i thought. Awesome Fine! Great Bars.
Well, aren't you sweet. Trying to get brownie points with the wife for melting everything in the house. Lol very nice melt my friend. I still have plenty of big lights to melt, so I know these lights are fun to melt. 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🐺
I find these scrap metal breakdown and melting oddly memorizing ! And your little 4 legged assistant doesn't hurt either !
The little copper hearts were adorable.
You got a little "Awwwww" out of with what you did with them.
I imagine the missus is going to have a mixed reaction to them. Somewhere between "That's so sweet, he did this for me" and "Damnit I wanted chocolate!"
It's amazing how much metal you can salvage from broken stuff people have thrown away!
Good Morning from the East side of US. Thought of you when we had to change out an electric motor at work. Oh the copper that can be had from it. However since it weighs between 273-318Kg 600-700Lbs very hard to deal with. Now if I was down there I would just say where do you want to meet and we could dismantle this monster on the back of my truck. I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work. #BigstackD
You could ship it lol
Right! My pool motor just died I thought the same thing! I'm in North Carolina.
@@John_Be you should ship it down lol
@@southaussiegarbo2054 that would cost a small fortune to ship something of that size, but the melt videos would be amazing
"I could ship it to you."
"Too expensive for that item."
"I mean my old tanker I transport it by is yours, too."
These ingots are so smooth. It’s niiice. Much satisfy. Thank you for these videos. I’m so calm now.
I think it would be pretty cool if you put one of the hearts you have made on your dog's collar. I'm sure he'd like that
Been a long time away from your videos, but watching some smelting and casting and a Victorian museum last week, reignited my interest
Imagine bigstack melting the whole cybertruck and giving it to Elon musk.
he doesnt melt steel he gives it to a friend XD
The only thing a cyber truck is good for is melting it down and use the resources for stuff with sense or at least a good design
Peter Zingler oh come on pick ups have looked the same for the last century now! We are ready for something new. Something that’s futuristic, bulletproof and has 600 Miles of fully electric range 💪🏻
@@emrefifty5281 There is absolutely nothing futuristic about a steel vehicle, in fact they were dozens of them almost 100 years ago but we stopped producing such vehicles as they were unnecessarily heavy-expensive and had terrible safety records...
www.liveabout.com/the-first-stainless-steel-car-726028
If that steel crap has 600 miles range then i would buy an aluminium one which would have at least 1000 miles range as aluminium is 2.5 times lighter than steel..
Once he gets a beer sponsor :P
That shelf is so satisfying to see
Esses vídeos são viciantes, muito bom ver metais derretidos... abraços do Brasil.
For some reason I find watching these calming.
It was microwave sulfur lamp, really interesting type of light source.
Thank you! I was wondering what the hell kind of light uses a Magnetron for power.
Hope he didn’t screw with that pink ring.
@@jacobacon3219 I guess he is aware of the danger
Hopefully he disposed of that beryllium insulator (or entire magnetron) properly. The dust from breaking one is really nasty.
@@peterzingler6221 i think not, he smelts the shit and keeps it in a shelf, rather then casting useful parts. You get the same money for varietal scrap then for ingots
I really enjoy your videos, I can’t really explain why. Relaxing with good continuity. Thank you very much for sharing.
It’s mint how you can turn scrap into bars like that
Oh wow there was so much aluminium in this Floodlight!!! Interesting! I love watching while you disassemble object!!! Cool
Everyone: Trades in their vehicle for newer one.
bigstackD: Melts down their vehicle pays cash for a newer one.
Spends 200 hours disassembling and $100 worth of gas to score $100 of scrap. Then has to pay $100 to dispose of the remainder.
Hello! I'm from Brazil, I am impressed by the things that are thrown in the trash, I almost cried when the searchlight was dismantled !!! lol
Sometimes, you'd think Australia is nothing BUT spiders. ....knock on someone's door, it disintegrates and walks away into hiding.
Yeah even blackwindows or tranulslas are like yeah you're big and Australian nope
Australia a great country 🤗🤗🤗🤗
GREAT ALU FLOODLIGHT MELT DOWN - GREAT FIND - GREAT WORK - THANK YOU !!!!
These videos are extremely therapeutic to me.
Must've been a goblin in past life. lol
Yeah those top two shelves need supporting cos I'm sure you've noticed there both sagging in middle and are in need of that slice of wood for support..anyway looking forward to Friday and what ever your gonna melt down for is to enjoy watching ...cheers matey..🍻👍
congrats on 500,000k!
You do realize that 500,000k is equal to 500,000,000, right? You could type it as 500k, or 500,000. Not 500,000k.
😶
This is one of my favourite UA-cam videos ever. Seeing the hard work in to forging that Hugh light was awesome.
Me: sees 22 pounds in title. Oh that poor shelf is gonna collapse today.
Hes trying to get it to one ton
The only ASMR Videos i'm watching. Just satisfying. Great job.
Good haul, there. NICE stack.
Awww, he has all those tattoos but inside he's a nice guy.
OK, I'll subscribe.
👊🏻😁
I love your channel. I like so much your melts. Discover it 1 month ago , but now I’m addicted.
Regards from Spain.
Interesting channel, just found it, been watching several videos.
Love the concept, it's a channel about a french bulldog, interlaced with some footage of a guy melting stuffs into bars. Love it.....
Over two weeks this channel became my favourite, and I watched every motor meltdown as well as every video you make a coin. I don't know why, but I love Nordic gold now
Presently playing skyrim.
I appreciate all the ingots.
this dude playin skyrim too look at those ingots
He should try smithing out!
Love how something so big and bulky transforms into bars and fits neatly
Been watching your vids for a while, as I cycle around the world... Just sat here in Australind and realised you live in Eaton!!! I'm leaving today otherwise I'd have loved to come see your setup 😔
Not to worry matey . I’ve just got home from helping my mate all night and wen I get up in a couple hours I’ll be heading straight to Perth so today would’ve been a no go anyway 🤔.
Travel safe Buddy👊🏻😁
@@bigstackD no worries, I enjoy relaxing watching your vids!

It is amazing to see such a large pile of shiny aluminum ingots
13:12 awww bigD is a romantic at heart!💑💖🤗
They dont call em big for nuttin...all of a sudden
Love watching you melt all kinds of metal.
"Alright I will not come near your stack ever again so please accept my deepest apologies lord dogo"
You put a lot of faith into that shelf

This big thing got turned into ingots. Simply amazing.
Wow! That was a mega melt!!! I can't remember the last time you got that much out of one thing?
Congrats on 500k! I love how ur pupper just sits and watches you work haha
Imagine breaking into this dude's house and you run out I'm full iron armor
Im running out probably being melted
Because never mess with a guy with tattoos beer and a cute little bullie *AAAAAA*
What Im saying is
That the defenses are probably high in Australia
That is a truly great video, I may like the journey of you harvesting the metal to melt as well as I like the melt itself
3:01 why is there a magnetron in this lamp?
It's a microwave sulfer lamp wierd
I was wondering the same thing
7:10-7:11 As soon as the furnace becomes a blowtorch, you can see not only cinders like what would come from wood in a campfire, but also molten aluminum peices fly out of the forge and the crucible
Now that's what I come here for! Heaps of large, shiny, raw ingots. I much prefer the raw look to the polished ingots. It's nice to have a couple good ones polished to a mirror finish; but the raw ones just look better en masse, stacked up from the floor to the completely fill the underside of a bench, that's the good shit.
Great channel. Recycling, having fun and making money all at the same time. Keep up the good job!
I like to take out a beer and drink with him so that I can feel like I accomplished something
I’ll drink to that👊🏻🍻🍻
@@bigstackD What!?!? The man himself replied to me instantly!?!? 😂😂 Thank you so much, this is the first comment I got a heart from a UA-camr on

I really do hope I win, I want to have the coins for me my sister and her husband. They saved me from a life of self harm, self hate, and general misery. Actually it is a bit like these videos. The doggos make my life better and my chosen family (I'm not actually related to my sister in any way) are the reason I have a life.
Theres something so satisfying about seeing all those ingots stacked up
8:16 girls wouldn’t understand
Vampiric Doggo I am questioning your “dudeness”
Vampiric Doggo I guess you have never went to pee and I came out in 2 streams
I'd rather watch your videos every day and I'm a little sad (I've already seen them all). Now I would be incredibly happy about such a wonderful gift from you

To me nothing beats a big polished up ingot. I love it
That light started out its life as a pretty serious piece of equipment.
Love it when you make bars from junk!
Hola, saludos desde Almeria (España), acabo de descubrir sus videos. Hace usted unos trabajos muy profesionales y sobre todo didácticos. Estoy encantado de haberle conocido.
Dude your videos even help me sleep. Not because they're boring, far from it. But the sounds of smelting and metal tinging is very relaxing lol..
Been watching for a few weeks now. This looks fun and relaxing.
One thing I like about Canada .. no deadly insects, and only one deadly snake, and even him (a rattler) you REALLY have to piss off before he bites, and you can go to hospital the next day and still survive.
Unbelievable Jeff...Congrats on 500k subs, all jokes aside this guy is on another level. Very few people worldwide know how to smelt, i mean its a "dead" craft. We rely on machines to smelt so an individual to actually know thats impressive... Damn if the end of the world happens that guy will never run out of work, start training on swords and shields ;)
Getting closer to the ton in no hurry , fantastic great to watch it happen
Fun fact: that floodlight was a quite rare example of sulphur plasma lamp. Whole "lightbulb" is spinning at high speed to prevent glass from being melted by plasma, that metal net also prevents from glass shards in case of explosion AND works as a Faraday's cage to stop microwaves. Yup. Plasama is made by microwaves heating up sulphur inside quartz glass bulb. Sulphur lamps have one of the highest CRI factor from all non led light sources.
Cheers brother! 🍻
you weekly videos are masterpieces that i look forward to on the regular. WHEN i start my forge it would be because of you!
I love seeing seemingly solid objects fold and turn to liquid haha it blows my mind
