I have the IDE-178BT (Basically the same just no CD player). Nice unit except it does not have the "auto antenna control" feature which was present in the CDE-137EBT and some other older Alpine units. That means if you have an older car and have a car antenna that go up and down, the antenna will stay up all the time when the unit is on,, doesn't matter if you're on radio, usb, bluetooth or aux. A bit surprising as I thought these premium units would have this simple feature inbuilt in it.
I have the same unit connected to an alpine dash control interface adapter that I used on my older alpine. My problem with this head unit is, that the harness doesn't have a mute wire that I can connect to the dci adapter. So I tried to set the mute function over the head units remote steering outputs. This worked but now I have to double tap the mute button on the dashboard to activate and double tap again to deactivate mute. Will a 1k resistor solve the double tap issue so that I only need to press it once to activate/deactivate?
@@ennine2120 I looked a little further into this. The mute button on the dash sends a +12v signal when pressed. The head unit needs a ground signal for mute. Therefore I need a relay in this case.
