Thanks for the video - my mixer will not turn on and it looks like it is the circuit board - my neighbour is an electrician and I am going to get him to hot wire it and see if that is the problem - I haven't used it in 2 years since i replaced some gears and was so disappointed when it didn't turn on - I now have hope - thanks again. I live in a small rural town so no technician locally - we have a couple of "repair cafes" a year where people bring items that need fixing and it is so much fun to fix something rather than throw it out and replace it.
So glad to see one of your videos again
Shame whirlpool went this route with cheaper builds, but I guess thats progress right? Sadly. Im glad many of you know so much about these different machines, I learn a lot just from many of the comments, thanks!
Your video helped me fix mine. 💪 And my wife was going to throw it out and buy a new one. 🤦♂️
In the industry I worked in, some of the equipment had water-cooled circuit boards, such was the concern over heat damaging the delicate electronics. It seems like the older electro-mechanical Kitchenaid mixers were less susceptible to this risk.
I agree, the older mixers did have parts such as wire wound resistors that got incredibly hot but could take the heat for decades. The newer electronics are definitely sensitive to heat, but I guess the pro to that con is they are cheaper and easier to replace.
I totally agree. Simpler designs are extremely rugged and much easier to fix with simple means and materials. I have both an old K5SS and a professional 6000HD (with the circuit board and no repairable motor/gearbox assembly). If you break one of these sintered metal gears you have to replace the whole motor and gear assembly, which is basically half the cost of the machine. The speed controller circuit board itself is close to $100. Also the metal castings on the newer machine are much thinner.
@@vintagemixersandmore1666 By one account, Hobart didn't think they could compete with less expensive models produced by their competitors. Whirlpool came along and kept the line alive and competitively priced. Kitchenaids are still the choice of professionals by and large. Thankfully, there are skilled folks who can service the mixers regardless of when they were made. Thanks for all the videos. Helped a lot when I was servicing my K4b, 1940s vintage.
Another great video! I have a question I hope you can answer. I have a 3C that has a white handle. After I strip the paint, how do I buff it? Love the look of the handle you did last year in the 3C cobalt mixer.
Thanks! I stripped the paint off, then polished it up with some chrome polish. If it needs more you can use 1000 grit, then 2000 grit wet sanding paper, then polish it up. Some are pretty smooth and shiny under the paint, but some are not as shiny to begin with.
Does this machine have a brush on the top? And is so how do you replace it
Thanks again!
@@vintagemixersandmore1666 I've concluded that is not possible. I did record one session but after I finished editing out all the cussing, Long and extended lost tool expeditions and full blown foot stomping tantrums I had no footage left! I'm convinced my home has been invaded by a gang of twisted little people sent by a demonic force to hide my tools while my back is turned just to-aggravate me!
Ok, I understand that completely, having edited out some of that myself lol. Another reason I dont make videos in my garage lol
Hello, Where does one even begin to look for someone locally that would work on these and service them? Someone gave me their professional 600 model and ofcourse ot doesn't have a warranty. Would really appreciate any help. I enjoyed your video. My husband said he doesn't feel comfortable taking it apart. That would be the easy part, getting it put back together is a different story, haha
hey! great job with these mixers. i have questions for somebody that knows. wondering about grinding noises at low speeds- not from the front side gears but seemingly from the motor side (towards the back).. i have a 4.5qt and a 5qt Artisan that make some grinding noises. i took them apart and regreased them but it didnt help as i could only get to the front side gears. i appreciate any feedback or direction i can go for repairs. I’m in a small town, so no kitchenaid repair guys around. thanks. i appreciate your videos!
Thanks! Usually any noise from the rear is usually the nuts that attach the rear assembly to the housing have loosened up. That would be the first thing I check. They are never really tightened, just snugged up. They would be on the left and right on the centerline, underneath the speed control assembliy on the silver plate the armature comes through. Hope this helps!!
Essas batedeiras aqui no Brasil custam os 👀da cara.
Would an US circuit board work with a 230V machine (since the board is apparently not sold in Europe and would have to be imported from the US)? Sorry if that is a stupid question.
Hello, do you service mixers? I'm having a time locating a service tech
I have the same machine broken. How much does it cost to buy a circuit board? Is there a schematic diagram?
What type of Grease you use
Helo, why do you wish machines have strength? They only have 300w or 600w, other brands have 1000w, is it a special type of electric motor?
hey brother exelente soy de venezuela ke tipo de grassa debo usar ala hora de hacerle un mantenimiento a la maquinq espero tus comentarios gracias
Where did you purchase the circuit board for $30 =/- ? Amazon wants $77 plus shipping. Also could not find the board on Ebay.
I ordered it through partselect.com, just a quick look and it appears the prices have gone up.
My mixer turn on for 5s and then shut off by itself , i even tried from low to high setting still nothing change , is there anyone have same problem like mine ? thanks
Can’t really see what you probed with your multimeter or how you jump started the motor. Can you describe? Thanks
Hello sir pls help bought the same model from Canada and I am it got shot circuit smoke came out. Pls provide the ntc value not sure if that's enough to understand but that's what the technician is looking for thank you very much awaiting for your reply
Yea Im not sure what value you are looking for, could you elaborate a bit?
Hi. The speed selector lever on my KitchenAid Professional mixer is too hard to move. Can I lubricate it with some oil? If not, how can I correct the problem?
Where to order circuit board 110volts ac
Hello. Can you show me where to find the carbon brushes on this model? Thanks in advance.
Vintage Mixers and More thanks. But can you show me where the brushes are located on the machine?
At this model/motor it is a pain is the butt to figure out how to replace them. Did you do it with success?
Do you have a service and repair Bussiness
I do have the same KA 600 series and it works well. I have it over a decade but I never had it maintained. What is your address if I want to ship for maintenance.
Hi Vanessa, unfortunately I am no longer restoring or repairing mixers.
@@vintagemixersandmore1666 Thanks for the feedback. Keep up the good work in whatever you are doing.
I remember in R.O..P
H .V.A.C.
are instructed said if Power is going to the BOARD and now comes out replace the board.
And I use live power leads to test Vacuum Cleaner motors
Doesn't hurt anything unless there's a short then set off your Breaker
