I am a string bassist and I can tell you that playing double stops (2 strings at once) on the bass and getting them to sound in tune, and be pleasant is not easy. She not only does this but plays an amazing variety of double stops all over the bass in various positions with often large stretches. In short, she is amazing. Wow.
Very awesome " I had a upright in the military back in the 80's Loved it" of course I was a electric player " I was fortunate to see on my Birthday thanks toy girlfriend" Return to Forever Wow " seeing Stanley play with with the flamenco style was magnificent" Chick Corea , Lenny White, of course Sir Stanley " John Luc Aponty" Frank Gambale and at the end of the night " my sweet lady got both of us backstage got to meet all of them and take pictures" I was absolutely stunned 😉 a night never to forget " all these guys were 💯 percent"Humble " 😅 what a night I'll always remember 🤙🤙🙌🤟😉🎯
Agree, Michael. I learned a little bit about doing it in high school orchestra (way back in the fifties) but quickly decided to leave it for the violins & cellos. A little later I found that I could get paid for playing in the dance band. Now THAT wa$ FUN! 😇
For sure. In my first year of college, I asked a professor about switching to cello. She told me "stick with the bass and you will always have a gig". She was right. I'm still playing as I have a 9 piece Rock, Pop, Motown, Jazz band. But she was definitely right as in the immediate future I ended up playing for the University orchestra a local semi-Pro orchestra a youth orchestra (as a hired fill-in) the university jazz band and dinner theater gigs. It definitely helped pay the bills while I was in school and I've always had plenty of gigs. I played enough classical solo material to see that what she is doing is nothing short of amazing.
As a cellist, I can tell you nothing else feels quite like the vibrations you feel in your chest from playing 2 strings at once. Especially the low C and G. I've never played double bass but I could imagine it's even more powerful. Beautiful, as always, Lorraine. Thank you for sharing
Yes, especially when you play the A and E strings at the same time. Even the E string alone is a lot of vibration, but combined with the A string it is very powerful.
I've played through amps and PA systems where an open E string on my electric bass makes my chest rumble so hard that I can't feel my heart, but no instrument is as physical as the stand up, acoustic bass. This musician is masterful and deeply intuitive. It seems so much like the music is playing her, instead of her forcing the sounds from the mute instrument--the truest sign of musical alchemy.
Wahou, madame, quel beau moment remplit de calme et de douceur. Votre instrument sonne merveilleusement bien et vous en jouez divinement bien, avec aisance et grâce. Bravo. La pièce est magnifique.
This sounds so amazing! I'm absolutely astounded.. I can't imagine the amount of time/practice it takes to get to this level on the double bass.. It's an incredibly difficult instrument to master and she plays it like its part of her. Wonderful song, spectacular playing and fantastic audio..
This is amazing. Not only is so well composed for the double bass, Lorraine is playing this so well with emotional and technical aptitude. Thank you for this wonderful performance.
The reason I started watching this performance is that it's on the main page of this channel. But the reason I finished watching at the end and sat without any words for several minutes is the great quality of the performance, of the instrument, the great sound quality, and the beautiful picture. BRAVO?
Finding this marvelous performance by happenstance, it is has become a favorite and I have listened to it several times. It is delightful with headphones. I am an amateur cellist and sometimes double bass player. Tuning double stops on the cello can be rewarding if not time consuming, but worth the effort, IMO. Absolutely brilliant performance, thank you, Ms. Campet for recording and posting this. ❤

This is by a landslide the most technical bass piece I’ve heard and expressed so brilliantly. Next level
@@michaelraftice1230 Where are you from by the way?

It's a pretty tactile experience, especially since you're pretty well wrapping yourself around the body of the instrument. Full contact music.
This is one of the things I miss the most about having access to uprights...
“Chest” 🧐
Y’all ever do that thing where you bow the tale piece? I’d do it during warm ups to be a nuisance lol.
That was absolutelly great. That's the result of years and years of practice and discipline. Kudos!
I can feel the vibrations of the deepness of that bass slayy
Beautiful sounding BASS! Rich with a lot of TEXTURE!
Bowed strings is probably my favorite sound in the world. Haunting and beautiful.
Congratulations my friends...i am proud of you..if i am singing with you...

Her move from 4 to 6 position is so doggone effortless❤
