I've read that the existing stereo version is a different take but from the original recording session. I've used what I believe to be the original mono release as the base for this remix.

(Peter & Gordon hit which Del wrote) This CD set was released in 1998.

As the former President of the Australian Del Shannon Appreciation Society I did assist him in a small way mainly with the 45 chronological sequence of releases. However, as I said the true stereo is from the first American LP just titled Runaway.

Actually a true stereo version of the "Runaway" album from 1961 on Big Top Records does exist. Big Top simply pressed more mono copies of the album as mono was the dominant source for teenage buyers in 1961, and as a result, the 1961 stereo original is very rare, fetching copies up to $200-500 in near mint shape. Though the original stereo album is indeed true stereo, it's in rudimentary 2-track stereo, with Max Crook's musitron separated into the far left channel, while most of the rest of the instruments are on the right hand channel, and Del's vocals are mixed into the center. A number of CD reissues that have the true stereo songs are mixed this way, so this remix is radically rearranged to make the instruments more spread out on both channels that is different from the original 1961 stereo mixes. Good job, Radio Wollaton.
