Believe it or not, the graphics and audio are at their best on the original disc copy of Combat Evolved played on the OG Xbox. Martin O'Donnell himself said in an interview that it's best experienced on the original hardware with 5.1 surround sound. The Dolby Digital sound chip for the OG Xbox was different than the chip in the 360. So if you have 2 copies of the game and a TV with both consoles connected to separate channels, you can actually test this yourself to hear the difference in audio quality between hardware. When played on the 360 the game sounds flat, but on the original Xbox the game sounds much more dynamic, especially in those cavernous indoor environments where the reverb is very impressive.
@@EskCan44 Hmm.. interesting point and I don't dispute it. However, when I place the original Xbox HALO game into the 360, the graphics are definitely a step above the OG version on the first Xbox. I tried it in 480P as well but at 1080P, HALO CE upscales quite nicely. The audio isn't the best sounding but it isn't noticeably bad.

When I played Halo for the first time, I was like 4 years. My uncle came to me one day bringing new game to me and my father that he already finished at that moment. Father and I was like kinda surprised. He downloaded it on our PC, and it's where everything about me and Halo begins. Thanks to him, and if he ever read this, and recognizes him, i just want him to know that I like him. P.S I was always scared of levels with floods and zombies. That levels I always played with father. Deffo needs to download it again.
I've always said that Halo: CE is a ROLE PLAYING game. Because you play the role of a badass super soldier. The game assists you subtly while also upping the difficulty depending on how well you are doing, creating a very flowing almost cinematic experience which allows you to feel like you are just that good. Like a super soldier would.
I had a sheriff uncle that loved cared of me so much in late 90s though out the 2000s and he passed sadly in 2016! My sheriff uncle, cousin female (his daughter) and i were spending time together when things didnt always go well for us, we stayed home all into one place, he bought the original xbox system for us to play and the halo combat evolved game that came along with it for free, and we all sat together having dinner and played this game all together in one whole entire day and night that I could never forget that magic moment time and life i ever had then just like watching stargate star wars movies! Halo:Combat Evolved was one game that I wanted the most when I first played it in 2002. I was at one of my relatives house, and both she and her brother had an Xbox & Nintendo GameCube of that Generation, and the first time I got to experience Xbox was at their house & I had a blast all right :) Honestly Halo:CE looks breathtaking for a 2001 FPS. I wish I got an Xbox og back in 2004 instead of a Nintendo GameCube not that I didn’t have my share of good games for it as well.
Honestly this game I love it I recently played it for the first time and I'm blown away I'm about to start Halo 2 I really have nothing bad I can say about the game it's like the original Half-Life and Half-Life 2 simple but effective Very enjoyable My one critique is I wish there was a tf2 capture the flag kind of mode to play multiplayer with id love to play that
I played it too me and my brother during the summers would play halo this was one of them it was lots of fun and i think we played halo 4 forge we captured some great moments i bought reach and imma have to buy the other ones
Love this game. Best one they ever made. I love the amount of dirty close up brute force you use so often in the game like you're a tank. That and on the second mission try waiting til the banshees.are closer to you while shooting and use the assault rifle full blast. Destroys them in one mag dump. And another cool fact about the assault rifle is if you watch the Marines double burst firing their assault rifles try doing the same if you want better accuracy at longer range. Works like a charm in reducing the spread of the bullets.
I Remember when I was a child and only had a physical copy of this game with a scratch on it and the amount of fear I had every loading screen because that’s when the game would crash if your disk was messed up. I am so glad to be a part of this masterpieces journey. Thank you to the original bungie developers.
Ahh yes I remember back in early 2002 when my uncle purchased an original xbox. Halo was the first game I played with my siblings along with 007 night fire, Jet set radio future and Project gotham racing! 😎

I remembered it was a very long game, how did u finished it in some days?
Halo:Combat Evolved was one game that I wanted the most when I first played it in 2002. I was at one of my relatives house, and both she and her brother had an Xbox & Nintendo GameCube of that Generation, and the first time I got to experience Xbox was at their house & I had a blast all right :)
Honestly Halo:CE looks breathtaking for a 2001 FPS. I wish I got an Xbox og back in 2004 instead of a Nintendo GameCube not that I didn’t have my share of good games for it as well.
Halo CE is the BEST Halo game out of All of them. Hands Down, nothing comes close to CE.
Honestly this game
I love it
I recently played it for the first time and I'm blown away
I'm about to start Halo 2 I really have nothing bad I can say about the game it's like the original Half-Life and Half-Life 2 simple but effective
Very enjoyable
My one critique is I wish there was a tf2 capture the flag kind of mode to play multiplayer with id love to play that
Holy shit I use to play this all the time with my brothers. Great game 👍
I played it too me and my brother during the summers would play halo this was one of them it was lots of fun and i think we played halo 4 forge we captured some great moments i bought reach and imma have to buy the other ones
assault on control room is so hard for me. I died many times which resulted in rage quitting a couple of sessions
Honestly the first interaction with the flood was so stressful
Love this game. Best one they ever made. I love the amount of dirty close up brute force you use so often in the game like you're a tank. That and on the second mission try waiting til the banshees.are closer to you while shooting and use the assault rifle full blast. Destroys them in one mag dump. And another cool fact about the assault rifle is if you watch the Marines double burst firing their assault rifles try doing the same if you want better accuracy at longer range. Works like a charm in reducing the spread of the bullets.
As an avid Halo player, I'm saddened you didn't play on Legendary. Heroic even.
Still. Glad to see a playthrough of this. Hope Halo 2 is next!
I Remember when I was a child and only had a physical copy of this game with a scratch on it and the amount of fear I had every loading screen because that’s when the game would crash if your disk was messed up. I am so glad to be a part of this masterpieces journey. Thank you to the original bungie developers.
Playing this game for the first time.. was absolutely mind blowing...
Ahh yes I remember back in early 2002 when my uncle purchased an original xbox. Halo was the first game I played with my siblings along with 007 night fire, Jet set radio future and Project gotham racing! 😎
Ive been playing halo since i was around 8 or 9 years old it is such a fun game it reminds me of more fun times i played halo ce and it was so fun
This game slaps, I can see why it's so popular
Memories unlocked..
This brings back so many memories
These memories are still better than the rest because they were the first ♥
The little squeaking aliens are so cute. Felt bad shooting them
Crazy how this is 21 years old
This game without a doubt deserves a spot in the gaming hall of fame alongside the likes of Super Mario Bros, Minecraft, Tetris and Half-Life.
I heard that classic warthog crash at the start where Johnson was talking😂
Still of of rhe best music in games history
What was the true aspect ratio of the original Halo? This seems wider than 4:3, but not quite 16:9.
if playing in progressive scan then the OG xbox would display at 3:2
I really want Halo CE and 2 to be backwards compatible with the series x. I know we have the MCC and all I just think it’s a cool idea.
There funny them little dudes when they run,I love it,I'm playing every campaign right now.
LOL!!!!! @you trying to get the ghost up the lift lol 😆 😂 🤣 😅
Crazy I don't remember it looking like this. Goes to show that at the time we thought these graphics were the best.
The legendary ending was pure heartbreaking 💔
Pistol and shotgun are my favorites
