Amazing movie, saw it as a child so many times. was wondering for ages what the name of the movie was ... after ages of Google research finally found it! Brilliant. No comparison to a lot of modern crap kids grow up with ...
The best part of this isn’t even the storyline of a cougar riding a log flume. The best part is that there were people out there who thought to themselves, “let’s get a cougar. Ok even better, let’s get a cougar on the world’s fastest and longest log flume- and video tape it.”
I love the narrator’s voice! My parents gave us these old Disney movies like Charlie the Lonesome Cougar, Snowball Express, Davy Crocket, 5-Mile Creek, Shaggy Dog, Apple Dumpling Gang, etc. Even though they weren’t the newest shows/movies, WE LOVED THEM! And still do! I think that kids today should watch some of these old shows instead of what they’re watching now and I bet if they did that for long enough a lot of the problems in this country might start to fade away a little…
Because even though cougars are basically giant house cats, they are wild and dangerous animals that could decide to kill anyone if the mood takes them no matter how much training they've had. Also many animals have died at the hands of the movie industry.
Because 2nd amendment kool-aid swilling MAGA delusional conspiracy theory promoters have labeled any and every 4 legged predator as a kill on sight threat to their way of life.
I remember this movie so well it’s one of my favorite animal movies I remember watching on regular television and it was on I enjoyed it so much I had to buy it on vhs Rhenish over the years I found it on dvd and yay was excited and I still enjoy this classic!😃
Rex Allen was a great narrator, and his voice was used in a lot of Disney films. My dad worked in advertising and I mentioned this to him. He said they used Rex Allen an a lot of commercials. Dad said it was so sad when Rex Allen died, but thankfully, his son had the exact same voice.
Does anyone remember a scene in this movie that was shown on Wonderful World of Disney, but cut from the DVD release, where it shows how Charlie got his name? Jess was trying to do paperwork, Charlie kept messing it up, and Jess said to him, "You're a regular good time charlie, aren't you?" and that's how it stuck? Either that, or I'm remembering something that I never actually saw...
I'm pretty sure I grew up with a version that didn't have a narrator. Am I just imagining things? Also: OMFG I forgot about this movie!!! Haven't seen it since I was a little kid!
I sure can't find any source confirming this. Quite the opposite. They only added this scene because one of the cougars they were using enjoyed playing on the logs.
As a photographer I can't stop wondering how they film this. They either had a lot of cameras which I think it's very unlikely. Or maybe they found a safe way to stop the log now and then to move the camera forward for the next section of The Flume what team is pretty difficult so the other possibilities that they sent this poor cat Down The Flume dozens of times to get it shots at different areas 😂 So I'm hoping they just happened to have a lot of cameras and only had to do it once.
I caught on the tiger Lions of America it kind of resemble both if you kind see how to wait a hunt lions in Africa hunt together and groups and mountain lions are not really Lions but they hunt alone and they act more like tigers hunting alone you see what I'm trying to say

Filmed in 1967, it had to be actually filmed - not video taped.

The narrator made this show great . As kids in the 50's we heard this type voice in Disney stuff ,Davy Crocket etc.

How come they can't make movies like that anymore? I feel sorry for today's kids growing up without Charlie the Lonesome Cougar.
David Stone Because they're too busy imposing feminism and social justice warriors movement.

Loved this as a kid
God, how I loved that film as a kid in Germany. Too bad you cannot get it in Europe... I would so love to see it again.
I loved this when I was a kid growing up in the 90s
This was no random search I needed this. I was there three thousand years ago
I remember this movie so well it’s one of my favorite animal movies I remember watching on regular television and it was on I enjoyed it so much I had to buy it on vhs Rhenish over the years I found it on dvd and yay was excited and I still enjoy this classic!😃

Rex Allen the voice of so many classic Disney films .
Was an awesome show
Rex Allen was the narrator. God bless his soul.
I wish they’d put these movies on Disney plus

You remember correctly, I remember that same scene on VHS. Can't comment on DVD.
my highschool forestry teacher played this in class
Amazing, love this
I love when they cut to the long shots with the stuffed cougar. 🤣
This is legit my cat’s favorite movie. It was a sad day for us, and maybe a dozen other people, when they took this off of Disney+ a few years ago 😅
HHNNNG Right in the childhood
Ever since I saw this as a we lad .. I've always wanted a big cat 😸...
yo that cat must beterrified yo LOL
Charlie the cute cougar
This was my favorite movie when i was 7 yo lol
me myself and Irene w/ Jim Carey used this type narrator to grab us baby boomers
working man loved listening to winston hibler everything he narrated
I'm pretty sure I grew up with a version that didn't have a narrator. Am I just imagining things?

@1.10 Charlie didn't look too concerned
smart cougar yayyyy
Only 10 cougars were killed or injured during the making of this film, which is pretty good considering. The log flume scene was particularly trying.
I sure can't find any source confirming this. Quite the opposite. They only added this scene because one of the cougars they were using enjoyed playing on the logs.
You tried. But know what you’re talking about first.
It wasn't a "log" flume. It was a lumber flume. No log ever rode down it. Big difference between a log and lumber.
As a photographer I can't stop wondering how they film this. They either had a lot of cameras which I think it's very unlikely. Classic Disney
That looked like fun until Charlie wiped out on those fallen branches.🤣 🤣🤣
Lonesome cougar... looking for companion :D
