I did a spell at Hastings Deering in Brisbane working on Cats. First time I ever drove a dozer was a D11N, out of the workshop to the yard parking. Fun figuring it all out, especially the throttle pedal which was reversed to the normal. Up for fast, down for slow. Rocker switch direction, push button gears, mini switch steering. We got them in new and spec'd them up for the mines. 88 Tonnes of the ship, no cab or blade on. The ones I worked on were fitted with a single ripper.
I noticed when he starts up that hill he barely has any throttle on that machine at all wow that's a lot of torque the elevens an amazing machine gotta love them
I ran a D11N for years down here in our Coal Mine. If you've hardly ran a Dozer, The D11 (and D10's) can be quite intimidating but after a little while you get used to the size. Around here in our Area, the D7 was about as Big of a Tractor as Construction and Land Clearing guys used. After you've ran a D11 and got used to them, when you are told to get on a D7 , you ask "What the Heck am I supposed to do with THIS Little Thing?!?!". Man I miss running those D11's,LOL!

Fun, fun, fun! What a view. For a minute from the fly by at the top, I thought Phil had gone up there to make a phone call but I realised he was taking a photo.
Another stunning view of God's wonderful creation. In my way of thinking that would be a great place to build a home - except the "scratch" up that road would be something every time a person wanted to go home. The view is spectacular. I'm so thankful to be one of the whosoever, thank the LORD.
As long as you can handle the two hour drive to... Anywhere. The aboriginals had the right idea. Whats an hour? And the only place to travel to is somewhere with some food. N water...
It is incredible how big and heavy those big girls are, and yet they can climb terrain like it's nothing. You boys are really re writing the book on how it's done, I know plenty of farmers that have spent more money on smaller dozers (newer and "fancier" sure, but not nearly as efficient)
This was a lot of fun to watch! Honestly half the machine would have worked in this case. This wasn’t work for this machine, more like making the bed or bringing in the newspaper before heading off to start the days work hahaha. I’ll be following now and watching more of this, happy the algorithm brought me here. Thanks for posting! Tony, ND, USA
I work for a cat dealer. I'm not so impressed with the destruction the big gear is causing, but I love videos like this . The most impressive thing about this video is the care Phil took to not destroy anything. He Just made the road.
Destruction? What destruction are you talking about? The grass? The shrubs? If you drive a car, do you worry about the bugs on your window or is that different? I guess you don’t drive a car though if you are really worried about all the destruction going on.
I was ripping on a slope once, caught some solid rock and Before I could lift the shank I was sliding to a very steep part of the slope. Dropped my blade and probably saved my life and a nice D10L
Good effort, many people would not realize the skill needed to use such machines and leave a smooth cut, expecially when there is a mix of hard and soft ground and dust about, but in this case the operator took his time, barely getting the engine over a fast idle.🙄 Stay safe, ☆ Niels..
Hi Phil, you would have been keeping an eye on the temps gauges on the way up and, on the way down, would have been an ilde most the way!! Matt, the sorghum crop looks like it is going to be ok. Just need a drop of rain just to finish it off nicely!!
