"I've sent him like fifteen decks that are made to lose and I keep giving MBT stuff that works, how's he not pegged that I'm feeding him the weaker decks at this point?"
"I will banish a wind and a dark". ...after the amount of Yu-Gi-Oh I have watched, hearing someone not saying "I will banish a light and a dark" is so strange.
Really didn't matter in this case though at least as Cimo would have just lost 800 LP so not enough to cause him to lose them all as he would have been left with 200 after using oppression
Dark Simorgh turbo was a deck that took me through the story mode of two Yu-Gi-Oh DS games. While far from the most powerful deck you could build in those games, it felt more thematically appropriate to go with a themed deck. It didn't do any Dark World stuff, it was simply a combination of the best Dark monsters (Armageddon Knight, Dark Grepher, et cetera) with the best Wind monsters to set up the graveyard (Lady Ninja Yae, Flying Kamakiri #1, Harpy Queen). Paired with three copies of Anti-Spell Fragrance to blank most of the removal available in that game, it was a lot o ffun.
I remember this being in Stardust Accelerator. It went up to the second 5ds set, so it's almost Edison. I think it came out during TeleDAD format. But there was an AI Dark Simorgh deck. Being 12 and only really understanding card advantage, this deck stomped me several times before I switched to my Macro Deck. I never actually built good decks before completing the story. I was just running Dark good stuff because I pulled a single DAD, Dark Creator and Dark Nepthys. It was so bad with a couple of good cards. But Macro used to be amazing in the videos. Shutting off the graveyard with Dimensional Fissure and Gravekeeper's Servant to stop attacks was a death sentence for most decks in those game.s
Shame that the AI probably had no idea how to play against it. That's the problem with using decks in the video games that are any more complicated than Summoned Skull turbo.
Honestly, in this format, Simorgh + Royal Oppression is almost just as much of a lock outside of a handful of removal spells, and RO isn't a dead draw like anti-spell is
Damn cimo set the shock trooper against Simorgh right after complaining about not being able to set cards, and MBT didn't notice. lmao I love this series
Been loving the series guys. Alex if you ever run out of series ideas, I would like to suggest Worst of History vs best of Jank to see how outmatched jank really was compared to meta. As always keep up the good work!
Hands down my favorite series you run by far! Love seeing these older deck profiles and the theory crafting in an earlier stage of the game! Thank you guys!
While in this case you are correct, is not generally true of targeting. As per Problem Solving Card Text, some cards and effects that target specify that the target must still meet the targeting requirements when their effect resolves. This is indicated by referring to the target as "that target" in the resolution section of the effect. So for something like Effect Veiler or Dark World Lightning, changing the target to face-down (for Veiler) or face-up (for Lightning) will invalidate the targeting. Cards that say something like “banish it” or “destroy it” in the effect section will affect the target even if it is not exactly matching the targeting criteria at time of resolution. An example: you can’t use Book Of Moon to protect your monster from Spiritual Entanglement because it says “target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; banish **it** until the end phase.” If it had said “banish that target” instead, then Book Of Moon will work to protect your monster.
Choosing "odd" has a 60% chance of winning compared to "even" with 40%. Zero (no fingers shown) is unlikely to be chosen and while it is "even" in math, most people would not consider it an option here. Thus you really need a better randomizer.
A broken tech card for Aliens is Big Bang Shot. You may remember it’s an equip spell that grants 400 atk and piercing. What you may not remember is that when it’s removed from the field, banish the equipped monster. Equip it to an opponent’s monster and bounce it with Gol’gar.
Oh Dark Simorgh, the bane of every Yu-gi-oh video game player due to that one NPC in every game since its release that turn one turbos this and Anti-Spell Fragrance out.
Can't wait to see Simorgh back when we get to Hanzo shenanigans. Safe Zone white dragon ninja along with Anti-Spell Simorgh that deck is pure jank energy.
The real heads up play at 13:37 is normal debris, bring back dandy, then use tragoedia effect to copy a level in the graveyard to copy treeborn and make it a level 1, then use all 3 for stardust.
I ran a Quickdraw-Simorgh deck before with a few copies of Anti-Spell Fragrance to completely lock the opponent out of spells, traps, and setting monsters.
If this series ever reaches Pendulums, I hope I can recommend my Deskbot 001+Dragong Synchro deck. Was somehow slightly better that a regular Normal Pendulum deck, probably because a neverending barrage of Mist Wurms wasn't really easy to deal with.
1. We need a history of Tier 0. Can you do a video covering the tier 0 formats? ex. Tele-dad vs Zoodiac 2. Can you do a game of modern Yu-Gi-Oh with everything at 3? I don't think some cards are as busted as people think!
I’m no pro, but wouldn’t you want to activate Rivalry before your opponent has a chance to summon a monster that isn’t currently chained which lets him get rid of the chained monster and start attacking the absolute fuck out of you? Probably wouldn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, but without future knowledge it still seems like a misplay.
Both times MBT used Dark World Lightning Cimo could have chained the target and the lighting would have fizzled. The set destruction is the cost the effect is the discard. Its how Dark Worlds work. I usually try to go for set monsters since they can't be chained and therefore I get the discard.
just so you know - if you chain fiendish chain in response to Dark World Lightning, it is NOT destroyed The card targeted by "Dark World Lightning" must be face-down when "Dark World Lightning" resolves in order to be destroyed. If you target a face-down Spell or Trap Card, and the opponent activates it in a chain, then it will not be destroyed by "Dark World Lightning". If you target a face-down monster, and it is flipped up in a chain by a card effect before "Dark World Lightning" resolves, the monster is not destroyed.
I really don't think the Alien deck was /that/ bad. It just so happens that playing a lot of decent traps doesn't do very much when your opponent's deck is half draw so they can pull Heavy, Trunade, and Dark Simorgh of all cards. With Dark Simorgh and mass S/T removal to wipe the backrow, the deck's main power play was its Synchro - which magnified its problems versus a deck that happened to have Solemn and Oppression around at the right moments. You could say it was an unwinnable matchup. If anything's weird about it, it's the ridiculous number of one ofs. You'd think there'd be more copies of Level Limit or Fiendish or something.
Today's blunders: 10:07: Activating Prohibition calling Morphing Jar. If he thought that set card is a Morphing Jar, then it shouldn't work because Prohibition doesn't affect the already set cards. 12:18 - if Cimo chained Fiendish Chain (which he totally could, because MBT had Tragoedia), he could have both negated a monster and stop Lightning from discarding a card. 21:53 - again Cimo forgot he can just chain Rivalry and it would stay on the field. 25:01 - Cimo can't set even a monster with Simorgh on the field.
I do not think cimo should have used judgement on Raiza on game 2. It was not "a must deal with it" situation, unlike something like royal decree or trunade. Yes, he had starlight road, for something like heavy storm, but cimo was not under terrible pressure. He needs to play patiently for his deck to work.
if u can chain the set card for dark world lightning , it is no longer set, so lightning will not resolve , so technically just by activating ur set card u will negate lightning
Next randomization method will be MBT only picking odd numbers because he`s an odd boi and Cimo has to start spinning the wheel of odds and evens to determine who gets the advantage.
random ruling but if you dark world lighting a continuous trap and you chain it like fiendish chain gravity bind it doesnt get deestroyed it has to stay face down
Cimo failed me with my gol’gar deck. Back in the day I had a similar deck but I used dandylion/sangan with limit reverse. Also Mist Vally Falcon with Big Bang shot for removal. And more things I’m too lazy to type out.
Yeah, I wish Alien was a playable archetype because I really love their design, but they're just so terrible. It's beyond being funny, it's just really sad.
i must realize why do a-counters not have the inherent quality of debuffing. cubic counter are another type of counter that do something to the card they are on and have as well written the effect of the counter in parentheses after the counter but they just work without cubic cards. yugioh really is the most illogical card game.
I always wondered why all the Frog cards would say "except "Frog the Jam" in their effects, causing them to change Frog the Jam's name, when it made more sense to me to just give Frog the Jam a line of card text saying "(This card is not treated as a Frog card.)" Seems like they went through all the worst options first when there was a much easier solution sitting right there. Edit: I realize this comment might seem unrelated, I was just adding another thing Konami did that doesn't make sense to me personally.
You can use Ancient Forest in a Guardian deck to switch Guardians into face up Attack Position after setting them because you can't Summon them because they're bad... I don't know why you WOULD but you CAN...
Honestly the problem is that Cimo plays WAY too passively; if there is a play that would take control of the flow of the game, but it negs 2 or 3 in the moment, even if it will benefit him the next several turns and win the game, Cimo will never go for it. Not saying Cimo is a bad duelist btw* passive play is all and good but not every deck is built to play passively. Sometimes decks won't work when you play them like that.
Why isn't Alex playing the best Alien card, Gorz?
Maybe it’s because the card isn’t jank enough?
Are you going to give Obelisk Frogs another go in the future?
Hmmm, this deck actually looks broken beyond belief whit the new TEARALAMENT monsters.
Wow, prohibition negats morphing jar who's already on the field, I didn't know that
What about Oshaleon?! Prog playoffs superstar!
I can't help but feel like Keegan might just be bullying Alex at this point.

Honestly, in this format, Simorgh + Royal Oppression is almost just as much of a lock outside of a handful of removal spells, and RO isn't a dead draw like anti-spell is

Dark Simorgh is my favorite tech in the side deck for Floowandereeze, cool to see it had some janky experimentation lol.
As a wise man once said: "Sometimes I see alien players without dog and I honestly wonder if they're okay."
12:10 couldn't he just chain fiendish chain to target tragodia, making dark world lightning loose its target since it isn't face down anymore?
That involves reading card text to know that
Yeah. Happened in a past jank episode.
Yup
Every dark world lightning actually,he could have just chained rivalry too

Alien is the most Janky deck in Yugioh, and that will never change.
this was the biggest curb stomp of the series so far. like not even remotely close (didnt help how many times joseph drew oppression or judgement)

Can't believe anti-spell fragrance isn't in Joseph's deck - its almost like he wants cimo to play the game
just so you know - if you chain fiendish chain in response to Dark World Lightning, it is NOT destroyed
The card targeted by "Dark World Lightning" must be face-down when "Dark World Lightning" resolves in order to be destroyed. If you target a face-down Spell or Trap Card, and the opponent activates it in a chain, then it will not be destroyed by "Dark World Lightning".
