Big States need reorganization due to administrative reasons not because of the identity crisis. Tripura is India's second smallest state and further division is almost impossible. It will be a non viable state financially and will heavily depend on central financial help. Identity is not sole criteria for state division.

If in future govt wants to make some changes or pass a law in the kashmir region , the govt will need the support of Jammu Lawmakers for the Majority as there is a high chance that radical forces will try to hinder any changes. So ideally speaking with the current situation it's better for J&K to continue in unison .

I am from mithila region of Bihar and it's truly said here that it's one of the most underdeveloped regions of our country. Though many new projects like airport and expressway are in progress but With a new mithila State many small towns can develop into big cities with better facilities and living standards.

I am from Coimbatore. Developed cities are distributed across Tamil Nadu , from east to west. Being far away from the capital city of Chennai is not a problem for us. Even Delhi (capital of India) is far away from South and East..distance from the capital does not matter in a developed region . We get all that we want here in the western districts of Tamil Nadu. Common man has no need to go to Chennai. We are all Tamilians. We will always be united.

@@light5903 Larger states are economically more feasible. They can take up larger projects. Any developing economy needs large projects. Small economic entities can't do that and are more prone to failure. Imagine a large family of 20 with 5 earning members against a small family of 3 with 1 earning member. Larger family ends up polling resources and buying bigger and better cars, houses and everything else. Though per capita they are poorer. The small family can't mach the buying capacity. This is a larger economic concept . This was just a hint. larger states have more prospects of economic growth.
@@light5903 States were formed on the basis of language. We were lucky that we had a naturally good reason to create states that are also smaller administrative boundaries. If states are created just as administrative entities then there would be no stopping the demand. There would be no end to divisions and demand for a new state . This would lead to great divisions and tensions. Every river would be disputed. Every other district would be disputed.
@@light5903 Many of these states would be hub of communal tensions. States like Harit Pradesh will have nearly a 60-40 ratio of competing communities. In a larger state the caste and communal ratios are diluted.
Being from UP,I 100% agree that UP needs to be divided into smaller states. You travel from Noida to Varanasi and you can feel how the areas are getting poorer with distance. Sad part is no national party like BJP or Congress will divide UP because they want to keep Lucknow as the gateway to Delhi.

I am from Jabalpur, a town which was a major centre for British Raj but nowadays way too underdeveloped compared to Bhopal and Indore, despite it is 3rd largest city of Madhya Pradesh. And even after 75 years of independence, there are no major developments done by Govt. Of MP here, and no strong leadership. Hence, Mahakaushal separation with Jabalpur as capital is justified. But unfortunately, the people living here are not aware of this demand.

We Indian Gorkhas are Nepali by ethnicity but Indian by Citizenship.We want Gorkhaland because there is zero development in darjeeling and neighbouring areas,very little opportunities to thrive and most importantly we have to protect our culture & tradition.We aren't bengalis in the first place,Gorkhas and bengalis are poles apart.Our demand is legit and 110 years old and even Nepali language itself is written in devanagari scripts. भिडियो बनाउनु भएकोमा धन्यवाद दाजु।

I am in favour of protection of interests of Gorkhas martial community as they have v. good role in Indian army and in protection of India Borders, most of other state division demands are mainly for development purpose, they have no higher thinkings than " eat drink and be merry " this development fight will increae quantity of population not quality . Gorkhas sanskrit name is " Bhoot community of Lord Shiva " and martial communities of shivas are Shivgunas of Haryana, Shivgunas are a subgroup of Jats .

I appreciate the effort and research you put in. I agree that it is time to rethink language based state borders. We are a very diverse country in a lot of ways and linguistic criteria to create states has not only created a lot of problems regarding governance and development, but also created some injustice towards some minor languages and cultures as well. Large population groups, who speak a particular language and were fortunate enough to get at least a single state for their language, has undermined all other minor cultures and languages of their respective states. Moreover, current system to create a state has created a lot of "regional chauvinism" and "separatist mindset". Linguistic chauvinism has been exploited for political purposes bypassing developmental goals. In an era of interstate-migration (which is perhaps a recent phenomenon that accelerated after liberalization in 1990s), it does not make sense anymore to stick to the "language only" criteria. It is time to rethink the whole approach. I am a proud Bengali but I am of the opinion that language has very little to do with governance. I fully support Gorkhaland demand within my state. Additionally, if tribal belt of west Bengal - Purulia, Pashchim Medinipur etc, demands a separate state, I would fully support that idea as well. I do not support a separate North Bengal state though, as I believe several conflicting demands in that region has created an almost unsolvable problem. As a nationalist, given the importance of the geography of that region, I would rather support a Union Territory as you mentioned. I believe it is time we rethink. Language and culture are of course important but we should strive to nurture those in other ways, mixing politics and administration with linguistic and cultural identities are dangerous propositions specially in a very diverse country such as ours, it creates unnecessary regional chauvinism and some people unnecessarily exploit that. Our country is changing rapidly, people are mixing, interstate migrations are at a historic high level - it is time we get rid of the regional chauvinism, and start to appreciate, nourish, fight for, stand up and nurture our small micro cultures and tiny languages which have REAL threat of extinction. I know, specially in my state, there are at least 5-6 such instances where peoples concerns are real, and I feel sad when Bengali Speaking, Calcutta Centric people, driven by Bengali Chauvinism and Politics, disregard those real concerns and PRETEND as if those are non-issues.
Bengalis are NOT parochial . Instead the problem with Bengalis is that they are instead too little concerned about their Bengali identity.You too couldn't avoid this wrong mindset. In India there are eight hundred languages and dialects and even many micro enclaves are too heterogeneous to cater to any ethnicity at all. If you support Gorkhaland and Kamtapur, then please be prepared to support demand for at least a thousand states in India , including my own apartment in South Kolkata and a Marwariland in Barabazar of Kolkata.Lastly, why it necessary for any micro community or backward community to have a separately state for development? Have NorthEasterrn states developed enough after separation from Assam?

Look at Arunachal Pradesh. It's the most diverse state of India yet their residents haven't asked for breakup of the state. Despite a huge ethnic & linguistic diversity they remain very united

Just for your information There is statehood demand in Nagaland too called as Frontier Nagaland ( Eastern Nagaland). Demand based on development. According to me u.p should be divide into separate states. Genuine from all corners of administration.

In my opinion, Tipraland, Maru Pradesh and Bhil Pradesh deserves to be granted a statehood. Although, every region has their own logical reasons in demanding statehood based on political, economic, cultural and linguistic factors.
Currently There is no Demand of separate statehood for maru pradesh... even most of the CM of rajasthan including current CM comes from so called Maru pradesh area .. And regarding Bhil Pradesh... yes there is some Demand but that too is not a strong demand on ground level... it's more of a political stunt by BTP... Actually we Rajasthani's only want a balanced development and... more autonomous and powerful regional councils just like Gujarat made for saurashtra and kutch (We also have regional councils but it's not that effective) Rajasthan is a Border state, it gives india a very high number of soldiers compared to our population and thus its a very crucial state for indian union.... so my opinion it shall never be divided... I am from Telangana, before separation other than hyd, rest of Telangana is like bihar. No water, no power,no roads nothing is there, no school and all govt building are worst. But after separation lot of things changed.
Telangana is a success story. But there is no need to split TamilNadu. Tamilnadu progress is uniform. If there is any discrepency TN people are fair minded to address. Andhra was suppressing Telangana and RoyalaSeema.

They should be kept insulated from the rest so that they remain the same as before. Meanwhile we can let Britain to collect some protection money from each to ensure they remain same and independent. ALL resources can be sold to these power in exchange for this protection. We do not want to use them anyway as it will destroy the culture if developed. Agree with you completely. Even my tribe needs seperate state as my culture is changed by this development. So Kannadigas and malayalis of udupi and Kasaragodu will not agree with be part of Tulunadu state and also karnataka and Kerala will not give kannada and tulu majority district/taluk to tulunadu state. So Govt can't make one district as Tulunadu state if it make it's development is doubtful and it may dependent upon everything on karnataka and Kerala.

Big States need reorganization due to administrative reasons not because of the identity crisis. Tripura is India's second smallest state and further division is almost impossible. It will be a non viable state financially and will heavily depend on central financial help. Identity is not sole criteria for state division.

@@light5903 Larger states are economically more feasible. They can take up larger projects. Any developing economy needs large projects. Small economic entities can't do that and are more prone to failure. Imagine a large family of 20 with 5 earning members against a small family of 3 with 1 earning member. Larger family ends up polling resources and buying bigger and better cars, houses and everything else. Though per capita they are poorer. The small family can't mach the buying capacity. This is a larger economic concept . This was just a hint. larger states have more prospects of economic growth.

If states are created just as administrative entities then there would be no stopping the demand. There would be no end to divisions and demand for a new state . This would lead to great divisions and tensions. Every river would be disputed. Every other district would be disputed.

I am from Jabalpur, a town which was a major centre for British Raj but nowadays way too underdeveloped compared to Bhopal and Indore, despite it is 3rd largest city of Madhya Pradesh. And even after 75 years of independence, there are no major developments done by Govt. Of MP here, and no strong leadership.
Hence, Mahakaushal separation with Jabalpur as capital is justified. But unfortunately, the people living here are not aware of this demand.
A tribal state Manyam State is needed comprising South Odissa, South Chattisgarh, East Vidharbha, SE Madhya Pradesh. Tribals and others of this area should demand separate state due to the backwardness of the area and also protecting their rich tribal culture, languages and traditions. This is a just demand because these people are the original people of India and we should respect them and their languages and culture.

I appreciate the effort and research you put in. I agree that it is time to rethink language based state borders. We are a very diverse country in a lot of ways and linguistic criteria to create states has not only created a lot of problems regarding governance and development, but also created some injustice towards some minor languages and cultures as well. Large population groups, who speak a particular language and were fortunate enough to get at least a single state for their language, has undermined all other minor cultures and languages of their respective states. Moreover, current system to create a state has created a lot of "regional chauvinism" and "separatist mindset". Linguistic chauvinism has been exploited for political purposes bypassing developmental goals. In an era of interstate-migration (which is perhaps a recent phenomenon that accelerated after liberalization in 1990s), it does not make sense anymore to stick to the "language only" criteria. It is time to rethink the whole approach. I am a proud Bengali but I am of the opinion that language has very little to do with governance. I fully support Gorkhaland demand within my state. Additionally, if tribal belt of west Bengal - Purulia, Pashchim Medinipur etc, demands a separate state, I would fully support that idea as well. I do not support a separate North Bengal state though, as I believe several conflicting demands in that region has created an almost unsolvable problem. As a nationalist, given the importance of the geography of that region, I would rather support a Union Territory as you mentioned. I believe it is time we rethink. Language and culture are of course important but we should strive to nurture those in other ways, mixing politics and administration with linguistic and cultural identities are dangerous propositions specially in a very diverse country such as ours, it creates unnecessary regional chauvinism and some people unnecessarily exploit that. Our country is changing rapidly, people are mixing, interstate migrations are at a historic high level - it is time we get rid of the regional chauvinism, and start to appreciate, nourish, fight for, stand up and nurture our small micro cultures and tiny languages which have REAL threat of extinction. I know, specially in my state, there are at least 5-6 such instances where peoples concerns are real, and I feel sad when Bengali Speaking, Calcutta Centric people, driven by Bengali Chauvinism and Politics, disregard those real concerns and PRETEND as if those are non-issues.

In my opinion, Tipraland, Maru Pradesh and Bhil Pradesh deserves to be granted a statehood. Although, every region has their own logical reasons in demanding statehood based on political, economic, cultural and linguistic factors.

Currently There is no Demand of separate statehood for maru pradesh... even most of the CM of rajasthan including current CM comes from so called Maru pradesh area ..
And regarding Bhil Pradesh... yes there is some Demand but that too is not a strong demand on ground level... it's more of a political stunt by BTP...

Telangana is a success story. But there is no need to split TamilNadu. Tamilnadu progress is uniform. If there is any discrepency TN people are fair minded to address. Andhra was suppressing Telangana and RoyalaSeema.

Makes huge sense to divide the nation's into states with administrative reasons and to provide more accountable services. Perhaps a state with larger than 30 million is likely to become unwieldy. Perhaps each city with more than 5 million should be a state capital with population of around 30 million in that state.
A tribal state Manyam State is needed comprising South Odissa, South Chattisgarh, East Vidharbha, SE Madhya Pradesh. Tribals and others of this area should demand separate state due to the backwardness of the area and also protecting their rich tribal culture, languages and traditions. This is a just demand because these people are the original people of India and we should respect them and their languages and culture. A tribal state is needed in East Central India. Thanks.
@@rayny6431 You are right we should create thousands of states in such a vast country. Trials should remain tribals and ALL groups should have right to preserve their culture. They should be kept insulated from the rest so that they remain the same as before. Meanwhile we can let Britain to collect some protection money from each to ensure they remain same and independent. ALL resources can be sold to these power in exchange for this protection. We do not want to use them anyway as it will destroy the culture if developed. Agree with you completely. Even my tribe needs seperate state as my culture is changed by this development. We just need a few towns and villages in corner of the country where most of us originate but had to be scattered as it is poorly developed.

States should not be based on language it keeps india undeveloped rather states must be formed on economic necessity of people and languages should just be a tool for communication not for border lines.. It was British who divided india based on languages.
As a populated country, Central government should give separate state or union teritory to those demanding states.. They need good development, to safeguard cultures.. At the same time, those 50 or 100 states/union territories comes under India country... I am from Eastern Nagaland🙏
I agree, look at the cautionary tale of the Konkani language, Goa has failed to save it from Marathi. IMO Darjeeling and the surrounding Gorkha-settled areas should form “Gorkhaland”, to protect their Nepali dialect from Bengali.

16:13 Demand for "Tulunadu" State has many drawbacks, Only Dakshina kannada is tulu majority ( tulu-48%), Udupi district is kannada majority (Kannada- 43%, Tulu-31%) and Kasaragodu taluk is Malayalam majority (Malayalam-71%, Tulu-16%).
So Kannadigas and malayalis of udupi and Kasaragodu will not agree with be part of Tulunadu state and also karnataka and Kerala will not give kannada and tulu majority district/taluk to tulunadu state.
So Govt can't make one district as Tulunadu state if it make it's development is doubtful and it may dependent upon everything on karnataka and Kerala.
