      @@UnwindingRoads I do have a Rubicon, and not sure if it’s totally needed but might not be a bad idea just for insurance…. After 6 months with it and the trans tune is pretty great the only thing I’d say watch out for is pushing it hard in low speed high torque situations… I may have a little more slip after the first 2 weeks of hard launches off the line lol other then that off-roading steep climbs is super easy just invest into a trans and aux cooler and maybe a bigger electric fan it really likes to get hot with long steep climbs in our terrain for hours at a time on trails so the odd cool down stop is needed. Only seen the factory diffs and transfer case get too hot on a long distance overlanding trip and stopped working for a bit when pushed to the limit let it cool down and was fine

    Teddy we are in the same "boat"! We currently have a 2020 Willys and a 2023 Rubicon. We are trying to decide, do we trade the Willys in for another Rubicon? Or do we keep the Willys and upgrade to what we want, including the aftermarket lockers. Green Diesel Engineering - get your ecm programed with the best tune there is, had an eco diesel ram 2015 with it, in Canada you can still get the egr disable tune VS the US where you can't. I'd get this in a heartbeat. Good luck with your project!

      If I was going to delete. Which I'm definitely NOT GOING TO DELETE.... I'll be going with the EOC (ecodiesel owners canada performance) tune. They did the tune on my ram and I absolutely loved it. Also local to me and absolutely loved Chris's customer service. Going to stick with what I know because I was happy with it.

    • @thermorex
      @thermorex Рік тому +1

      @@UnwindingRoads makes sense. And obviously, if I'd buy another eco diesel I'd only tune if driving Offroad - not worth the legal hassle otherwise. Gde had 2 tunes, full delete - where you'd take all epa stuff out, and another one, with all epa stuff left in the truck but disabling the egr plus some changes in injection timing, regen, etc. I knew they made the tune right when I saw the usually black diesel oil looking better than a gasser's - indicating very low soot, so I became a fan. Now they got nerfed by epa and have only an obd2 dongle, at least here in us, you folks in Canada can still get the "nice" one. Now put some Dana 70s with arbs on that bad boy, you can easy go 40+ and make Shaun cry... 🤣😂. Love you guys!

    • @thermorex
      @thermorex Рік тому +1

      @@UnwindingRoads oh, one more thing, GDE's new dongle US version tune is epa approved, so you can legally drive with it on road. Nice Teddy. I'm convinced you can build it more cheaply to spec than doing the same from the Rubicon platform.Why pay for the Rubicon suspension just to remove it? And adding lockers (I would do air) and the sway bar disconnect can be done more cheaply as well. And with regearing you can do the 4 to 1 at the same time. Seems like a good decision to me. Good luck with the build. Looking forward to it!

  • @Scoobienorth

    Don’t sweat not having the 4:1. Especially with the torque of the diesel. The 8 speed has great gearing as is. I went with a max tow sport gladiator. I don’t like all the electronics telling me when I can and can’t lock my diffs or unhook the sway bar. I feel with the gladiator, or my setup anyways the Currie anti rock would work better than the sway bar disconnects.

      @Scoobienorth Рік тому +1

      @@pistachiobandanos904 that depends. It’s great for medium/slow rock crawling. At times the high torque with no wheel speed can break parts or cause slipping. What is Chris’s email? Couldn’t find in description. Also, does tuning with products like Banks void the warranty? They claim it doesn’t.

    What are you going to do with the axles? Is there going to be an axle swap or does the gladiator sport comes with same axles as a Rubicon?

    • @UnwindingRoads
      @UnwindingRoads  Рік тому +1

      Same axles as the rubicon. Good question! I forgot to mention that! It does still need the lockers though which we will be adding

    • @Josh47147
      @Josh47147 Рік тому +2

      Any model besides the Willys Sport or Willys can get Dana 44 axles, you just need to get the MAX TOW PACKAGE, or get a Mojave or Rubicon. The Reason you can't get the Max Tow Package on a Willys Sport or Willys, is because if you did it would be a Rubicon without the lockers at that point.
