  • After watching ‪@NickKrush.DGandFit‬ ‪@RobbieCDiscgolf‬ & ‪@OverthrowDiscGolf‬'s recent videos about backhand form, I went out to Village Green DGC to practice what I learned.
Nick's video ( • Optimizing my Backhand... ) goes over his practice routine, but one tip I am trying today is to drive the disc through my armpit.
Robbie's video ( • How I Started Seeing D... ) goes over drills that OverthrowDG has talked a lot about before, the backwards stance throw. But Robbie also talks about accelerating the hand & I'm trying to implement that too.
Overthrow's video ( • How to FIX the Elbow D... ) talks about rounding or swooping and how you should drive the elbow. Combining all these tips from the different UA-cam Disc Golf coaches is what I set out to do; see if I could improve my backhand form.
I only do standstill throws in this video as I wanted to get a feeling for how the disc is supposed to come out of my hand and how my shoulder muscles feel. I try to keep my head back as it will naturally come around as I throw.
Thank you for watching this instructional practice video & I'll catch you on the Back 9 😎

I'm not a disc golf coach but I want to give you some information. Your arm is just flapping around, and it's coming across your chest, creating an acute angle that makes your throws a lot less accurate, and also has an effect on distance, and increases the chance for shoulder injury. When you get a chance, take a look at this video I made. You want to prevent the arm from collapsing horizontally into your chest, which is rounding. Turn the shoulders more (coiling) and the arm shouldn't race past it when you reach back. Keep it on the other side of an imaginary line on the ground that goes towards the direction of the throw. 🙂

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not able to move like others due to my disability. I'm playing how I can & Overthrow said "rounding" doesn't matter. Look at Eliezra's throws, they're all rounding throws. I wanted to try what the other coaches were showing & it didn't work as great the first time. I'll improve next time.

on a side note, I was standing in the BACKWARDS drill position, so of course I'll round. You'll have to check out my next video for the other 9 holes that day as adding a step fixes the issues you see here.

@@ArcticKatsDG ok yeah I got finished watching that video and you're making good progress. I want to make sure you know that I'm not trying to be "form police" or whatever or that you feel I'm trying to be disrespectful or anything. Everyone's form journey is different. I just want people to learn from my mistakes. Rounding has been a big issue for me, and it's hurt my shoulder by not addressing it. I definitely wish you the best, and keep up the great work! 🙂
