I actually have one of these in the car. 110k miles and 12 years, still running. Its a single row bearing but my car is a dual row engine OG car. It just fits in with shims. I will be taking it apart and replacing it soon!
Fun fact: The Pelican bearing and the LN bearing cost about the same when buying wholesale, under $30 each. When it comes to anything from LN and their high pricing even the accountants at Porsche say "how do they do that?!".
My 2001 C4 had a dual row IMS bearing. I bent over and bought the LN Engineering replacement because I did not know there was another option. It was just under a billion Canadian. I have the original they pulled out of the car but I never got around to pulling off the seals. No need for more regret once you have already bent over. Great video! I'll have to get you to do my next engine out service.
You’re not alone! I’ve bought multiple of the LN Engineering bearings and I think they’re a fine product. Definitely nice to have that bearing for the peace of mind. Only time will tell how this one works out. Hoping for the best 🤞🏼
@FunAhead_TV_Official I would bet a lot of money it will be completely fine. Pelican sourced it from a quality bearing manufacturer just like Porsche, LN, etc.
Nice summary, I think the problem is the extra labor for doing this about twice as often as the LN engineering alternative, which makes the cost/mile probably quite different. Great option for this car and given your mechanical skills + equipment + enthusiasm though. 🙂

Another excellent video, and of course, a thumbs UP like all the rest.
Outstanding video!! This was beyond helpful! The budget Boxster is going to be a beast on the road! 👏👏👏👏💪💪💪

Agreed on all of the above, certainly beneficial on a case by case basis. Thank you for watching Andy!
Happy Friday! Great info!
Thanks Erik!!
