Vacheron Constantin Overseas 35mm brings an important change

- Let's get a little personal here. I have always been a fan of the current generation Overseas. I appreciate the distinct visual aesthetic, particularly the shade of blue on the dial, and applaud how Vacheron Constantin is the only member of the Holy Trinity to use an interchangeable system on their integrated-bracelet sports watch design. A deterrent for me though, aside from the fact it is not necessarily in my budget, in terms of purchasing the marquee 41mm model, was not its diameter, but rather its lug-to-lug span of 49mm. To be clear, with my ~6.5 inch wrist I could pull it off, but a smaller size would be that much better for me. Now, Vacheron Constantin does offer a 37mm Overseas, but this model has one feature that gives me the ick, and that is an asymmetrically placed running seconds counter at the 9 o'clock position. This is why at Watches & Wonders 2023, I was very excited to see the debut of 34.5mm and 35mm models that utilise a central seconds hand - offering better dial purity and symmetry to a midsize Overseas model.

This is really pretty and would fit my small wrist. But it feels a smidge too small. I think if they went up to 35.5mm or 36mm with that clean dial, it would've been perfect.
The blue on that dial is something to behold
The steel 37mm Overseas has been gone from the VC website for quite some time. I would guess they are working on something new, maybe a truly midsize 39mm model. Hopefully they do a no date option, if they improved the caliber 2460 sc/3 with a bit more power reserve. The Traditionnelle 38mm is the perfect non-sporty watch, it would be weird for a sports watch to be smaller than that.
The current generation Overseas tends to wear quite large, so having it at 38mm, or even an update to the 37mm, would be perfect imo. Also seconding that 38mm Traditionnelle - what a stunning watch
Perfect size for me, considering the integrated bracelet makes the watch wear much bigger. 41 mm was just too big. This watch is my current grail.
39mm is the sweet spot ⌚
As someone that thinks the 41mm model is a little too big, this 34mm version's proportion looks kinda off, same thing also happened to the PRX 35mm.
I need them to admit that they were targeting woman with this size, bang on proportions are 39/40mm
I disagree I think the proportions of this and the PRX 35 (Auto) look great! They are awesome for a small wrist.
6.5" wrist here and I like the 35 mm quarz PRX.
I'd have to disagree here. I think the worst aspect of the PRX 35mm is the thickness of the automatic, otherwise the proportions work pretty well for me - I'm guessing it'll also largely depend on wrist size
Comparing tissot and VC lol
It is so beautiful and very fit my 6.5 inches wrist👍I ll get it in May😁
Wish it was 36 mm (i have to see it in person, though) . But the switch to a centre seconds hand is a home run.
The current generation Overseas does tend to wear a little large in my experience, so I think this is spot-on!
@BornaBosnjak if it wears big then it should be ok
36 would be perfect for smaller wrist men! Similar to how the Rolex President fits
Power reserve 40h? Whats worng with them?
Not saying you're automatically wrong, but the link you included in the video description literally states "boutique edition only" on the blue dial (4600V/200A-B980 34.5 MM STEEL).
I have both the overseas and the Royal Oak in 41 mm. Both wear like a much larger round watch. Would be nice to have versions that wear like a 40 to 41 round watch. I guess that puts it around 39/38?
IMO 35, however, is best suited for the ladies.
I do own the 38mm Royal Oak chronograph and it fits so much better than the 41mm on my 17 cm wrist, I am in love with the Overseas chronograph but 42.5mm is more than my wrist can handle unfortunately 😢
Gosh 35 😱 even my wife will think I am wearing her watch 😅 I think the smallest I will be wearing is 39. Considering a downgrade movement...I will be sticking with the standard 41.
39mm is sweetest spot
Tehy should make a 39mm version too
The new one is too small and I like the asymmetrical seconds dial on the 37mm.
you're crazy if you think they should replace the 37mm with 34.5
I’m surprised no one is talking about the new 4520V the next gen overseas
Me too! But The changes are too little lol
34-38mm fits just nice those 40 & above are losing out so much consumers too
37-39 is the perfect size.
Sometimes, I like the 9 small seconds. Although, the 37mm one did seem to be not quite right in its design.
if you want to gripe about asymmetry then you should gripe about the date window. i say embrace asymmetry.
Does the movement have a hack function?
indeed
I have a 41mm 3 hander version snd it doesn't wear big.
16cm wrist, this is too small. 34.5 is not an alternative to 41. Just make a 38.5 already!
I have 18cm wrist and prefer how this wears over the 41. I do like smaller watches though, this wears more like a 37, my sweet spot.
yes agreed it wear like a 36mm watch @@erikiverson1762
The date window is way too small for this watch.
OP 36mm ref. 116000 the grail watch
ooof in white. need it.
A lovely little watch, with better proportion than the hefty 41mm. Agree the 37 is the ugly duckling - replace that with the standard three-hand configuration and you have a winner, for sure. And also, ahem, a 'mid-size...'
Great looking watch. I appreciate the 34/35mm watches for a vintage look. You do get a better movement potentially in the OP but the finishing here is a knock out.
Date window looks too small for an old guy with blur vision :S
Rolex, Patek, Lange, Iwc, GO, GS, AP etc all do not have geneva seal, it doesn't mean much.
26k ????? 😂😂😂😂
I mean, VC is top brand and the OS is fantastic, BUT, 26k is an absolute offence
You obviously don't know much about watches. 26k is a good price. VC is holy trinity.
The date window is puny and unnecessary😅
I think VC has literally no idea what to do with the Overseas right now. They're thrashing around trying to find some market foothold and in the process are making it impossible for buyers to get a handle on it.
Tried it on and it’s way too small
then go with the 41
Why not just make it 38 and get rid of the 37.
38-39 is midsized not 34-35, and the midsize is coming next year 🙌👌
How do you know?
34mm is pushing ladies' size if it were a 38mm that would be perfect.
Please don't make "the ick" a thing when it comes to $20k watches, for God's sake
Good for my son’s christening, for him to wear
Midsize? This is small.
A 34.5mm integrated bracelet design wears closer to a 36/37 so yeah it is midsize
Wrong !
Ladies size
"Smol wach"
Will not buy.its overpeiced !
What a dainty little piece. I'm sure there's kids living in Toorak who can get these for the Year 10 graduations.
Start by buying this for one’s wife and then possibly they’ll sell you the larger version.
Wait..... let me get the magnifying glass. 😂 dam that's a small ass watch.
The price is all wrong for this watch.
Do you even know vacheron constantin?
Simply put, no!
This is a woman's watch. Too small for men. Should have done this in 38mm.
34.5mm is a child’s size
Women size
Reviewer should have been a lady.
That’s a chicks watch. Let the ladies enjoy them. The 41mm on the other hand is more suitable for men.
Sorry, no men I know wears a 35mm.
It a nice watch if your a woman with disposable income and great vision. 35mm Non-starter for a man.
