Still worth it if you have warlord fantasies. My clan has been around 154 in game years, over four clan leaders, all with epic tales. My clan had 23 cities and castles at one point. You can create your own character and be as peaceful or as warlike as you wish. And even have a family. Worth it!

Yes but you would be in small skirmishes still so get a group of Calvary and be a merc and make a name for yourself or a bandit 20-30 the range for small groups and you will make bandits flee from you below 20 you playing with your life tbh getting captured puts your life in the npc hands and of they hate you your life aswell

Guys, if you're starting out playing Mount and Blade II Bannerlord or thinking about buying it. Complete the base game without any Mods (if you can do it) it's extremely challenging. If you enjoy a huge challenge, this is the game for you. As a new starter, you're coming into Bannerlord at a great time as the latest 1.2.10 version is fantastic. Almost all of the minor bugs in previous beta versions have been ironed out to when I first started out with it. For more intermediate players of the game, download the following Mods together (if you have a decent gaming PC, not for consoles) to the latest 1.2.10 version from Nexus Mods: Xorberax's Legacy, Diplomacy, Character Reload and LEMMY'S EUROPEAN PROJECT IS A MUST HAVE MOD!!! along with the required Mod protections, i.e Harmony and Butterlib etc. I'm almost into mid game with these Mods combined. I've not had 1 single crash or any issues with the above Mods and base game on the 1.2.10 beta version. Amazing gaming experience, extremely challenging but very rewarding with time, dedication and perseverance.
When would you say you have "compled the based game" Ik its a sandbox but what would you say? Im on my 1st run right now as a vassle I own 2 castles, 1 town, 1 workshop, and 1 caravan. I mean I would like to become the kindomes ruling clan, or would you have to goto toteal domination to have "completed it"
@marshall3861 I would say total domination is the whole map being taken over by your Kingdom as the base game completed. That's how I would personally see the base game as completed. However, some would say that the side quests have to be completed too. I do like the side quests, especially with what the modders and Taleworlds have added in the 1.2.10 version, but not enough to spend hours and hours focusing on them. I was more about taking all of the settlements of Calradia on my first time playing Mount and Blade II Bannerlord. You wouldn't believe me if I told you that I did this without being a vassal and started my own kingdom from scratch, with no mods installed and used no cheats to eventually take over the whole map. I reached Clan Tier 4 from 0 by purely beating looters and raiding hideouts and then taken my first settlement that only had 250 defenders in it. I then lost my first ever settlement. It got that bad with tribute payments to the other kingdoms, I had to leave my kingdom and return it to the Khuzait's as a learning experience. It was really embarrassing. I even thought about stopping playing the game altogether and had a break from it for a while. I then came back to the game and somehow found a way to complete it. I lost more hair along the way lol (I didn't have much to start with lol) 😂 and was scratching my head every 5 minutes with no mods or cheats, combination of stress, excitement and adrenaline all in one go. What I would say is, if you have no mods installed, I.e Diplomacy as the main one. The end game is going to be extremely difficult for you and you'll have to execute it very quickly, as the final kingdom left in the game will put tribute payments through the roof, if you don't take them out very quickly. This will wipe you out of money and influence very fast. So, make sure that you have promoted plenty of companions to become your vassal's in the late game to evenly share out the costs of the tribute payments whilst you take out the final kingdom and make sure you have tons of influence in reserve. As to your question about taking over as a vassal into becoming the leader of an already existing kingdom. I'm currently doing this now with the Southern Empire on Lemmy's European Map. I've never completed the game before from being a vassal and then promoted to the leader of an existing Kingdom until now. For example, the last ruler of the Southern Empire was Rhagaea. She eventually died. Then, I was voted in as a majority by the council. The way to do this, Is be a very good boy, get all of the other clans in your kingdom on your side by gaining as many settlements as you can and gain high relations with them by helping them out with tasks i.e the blue exclamation mark. I just send my companions to this. Then, when the ruler of your kingdom eventually dies. If your clan has the most settlements, you'll then get voted in as the next ruler by the other clans with the most votes. I hope this helps.
@marshall3861 Another thing that I didn't have room to mention in the last comments lol...in between war in the minimal peace periods that you'll get without any mods installed, i.e Diplomacy. Manage your economy well, I.e all of your towns and castles. The following polices that currently have enacted: - Forgiveness of debts* (you must use this as you take settlements from other kingdoms of different cultures to ensure that the town loyalty doesn't drop to below 25% as towns will go into rebellion, which immediately puts your towns at risk of other kingdoms muscling in quickly to take rebelled settlements from you and you'll have to kick the rebels out, it can be a nightmare. Don't worry about castles as much though, as they can't go into rebellion, although high loyalty and a good governor of the same culture as the settlement is key to getting building projects done quickly, which in turn means that you can then focus on growing prosperity for each town and castle that you've taken). - Tribunals of the People. - Castle Charters. - Senate (more for if you're an imperial leader). - Bailiffs. - Imperial Towns. - Sacred Majesty. I do have some other ones enacted to my own preferences, but it's each to our own preferences according to the type of game that you want to play and how you're as a ruler. I've been both good and caring of the people to also being a ruthless and evil ruler with a swinging brick for a heart lol 😂 executions of enemy lords and everything. Seriously, don't ever execute any opposition Lords without Mods installed though or you'll have every kingdom hate you and declare war on you with high tribute payments.
I'm playing it right now and I agree, it's totally worth it! Taleworlds fixed almost all the bugs, so if I have one complaint, it's how staggeringly LONG this game takes to play. That could be a good or a bad thing, but I DO wish I could speed up or skip time some more.
I started playing a few days ago and I like how long it takes, it really adds to the RPG element, I like seeing my character slowly age over time and interacting with other lords and nobles
Keep a look out for an updated version of the 'Better Time' mod. I did try this on the last version (1.2.9) it didn't work properly, so I had to delete it. However, if the authors sort it to the latest (1.2.10) version, it adds an extra fast forward option. Also, one thing that will definitely work for you to speed things up. The Character Reload Mod allows you to add as much or as little speed as you wish to your horses and movement from the encyclopedia/clan screen menu. Even if you don't have any horses at all. Amongst all of the other things that you can alter and do with the Character Reload mod. Hope that helps.
Development for the base game is dead sadly. Outside of war and epic sieges, I feel like the game needs more to do in peacetime. The board games and gladiator fights get old after awhile. The medieval world had to have been more fun than this.
A steep learning curve is subjectively a con. I don't want to be complaining about this because I dont want developers to simplify and sanitize games even more than they already are. The performance isn't bad at all for a game where you can have up to 1000 units on the battlefield at a time.
It was on sale on steam, so I bought the dlcs and everything for 1674, so that's not too bad. I have watched other friends play this and I find myself back seating. So i'm excited to be in driver's seat and ready to you know, demand & conquer
