His pose looks like he's standing before an enemy army spreading his disease and flies; not really in combat but being all anime going "BEHOLD MY DESTROYER HIVE, IMPERIAL LAPDOGS!" while menacing katakana float above his head
Personally the Death Guard are my favourite faction looks-wise, might be a controversial opinion but I love the colour scheme, big chunky armour, huge weapons and above all, all the antlers/horns
I think they're great has well. I bought the Dark Imperium set thinking the space marines would be the faction I would super into. I started painting the Death Guard just to get lots of practice in before I started the marines but I've absolutely loved painting the Death Guard and may just paint up a 1000 point army before I get to the marines.
Thanks for the vid dude, really appreciate the size comparison. I'll buy him but I'd need to convert him a bit get rid of the nurgling and have him facing the other directon maybe leave off the flies and reposition the sythe hand.
The model is a little busy, but not too bad (you'll get your monies worth painting this one). Its the pose I'm not a fan of. Nobody wants to smell Typhus's BO and you loose almost half his face . That said the smoke and flies are a nice detail. I enjoyed painting the box set DG but with all that detail it took forever to get it looking good (and dirty).
I was on the fence with him too but I built him and before I put the smoke/flies on I realised I actually really liked the model without the smoke.... so I left it off. Not sure why you would read his ALWAYS hits on a 5+ rule as hitting on a 2+ though.....
SkonkBot FairPlay. Whatever works for you. I read the 5+ as a 2+ as he has a BS of 5. I just read it as regardless of modifiers it’s a 5+. Otherwise why even give him a BS? They should have removed it.
He's BS 2+ when using his Blight Grenade (could be buffed by Biologus Putrifier to be Hyper and further buffed by Blightspawn to do 2D6) Destroyer Hive always hits on a 5+
In my opinion, typhus's movement speed and wounds are the main reason I would use a lord of contagion in his place. But his different weapon choices and abilities are promising to use.
A 4 I know right! This dude is suppose to be the Herald of Granddaddy Nurgle himself and the 1st captain of the Death Guard Legion! I find him super underwhelming when compared to other HQ choices. I would have honestly made him have wounds of 10 similar to that of Mortarion (18 wounds) and I would have also probably made him have movement of 5 and buffed up a lot more of his stats. Besides that mostly everything else is pretty 👌
I think the newer chaos direction with deathguard is a bit of a misstep, especially when compared to the thousand sons rubric marines and terminators which gave off a menacing, chaotic look without going cartoon-y or anything. Fair play on doing the overtime though to get this release, serious dedication!
Nurgle always had this more relax atmosphere to it, lore-wise, Nurgle is a loving fahter, nurglings are happy cherubins, beast of nurgles are basicly big stupid playfull dogs. Theyr color scheme isn't helping, with something darker and more weathered i think they can cast a more serious aspect.
It really is the colors they chose, basically pastels, if handled right it looks something like this. ua-cam.com/video/MxGxgFRSR5U/v-deo.html Now granted he's infinitely better than I could ever hope to be, but adding more layers of Agrax earthshade and leadbelcher+typhus corrosion really makes it look more, well, me!
Yeah i saw that guy's channel, i had heard of enamel use before but never saw it used like that, it fits nurgle very well, don't sell yourself short, he sure is a talented painter but i believe the way he achieved both his plague marine and bloat drone are not that hard to do, give it a try.
I love the new nurgle models. They give a really intimidating presence just by sheer swolen bulk. It also is a clever way to gradually correct the space marine scale
Thanks for sharing. I don't get the "happy" vibe some people seem to be getting from the DG models? I just finished my poxys from the DI box and I think I caught the right tone with them: scary-dirty. 😁
Thank you for watching and your comment. Yeah I don't get it much either. I'm painting them at the moment, posting pics on my instagram and mine look pretty grim dark.
Let’s face it after conquest came out who didn’t spend £10 on five issues of issue one to get 15 marines and a ton of paint pretty easy to use spare pieces to convert them
George Aitken many people didn’t, including myself and everyone in the world where conquest is not available. I still have never seen any of the issues in the shops.
does the manreaper autohit been looking round and found a Reddit page for it but still not sure? could someone clear this up for me also if it did why didn't he say it could in the video?
yeah in my book it says "this weapon is a plague weapon - you can re-roll any wound rolls of 1 when attacking with it. this weapon automatically hits its target. did u read from the codex or the book in the box?
Moosecloth Gaming bit of confusion on this one. It says ‘always’ not ‘only’ but then they give him a BS and highlight that modifiers do not effect this.
Far, far too busy..... it's like a miniature version of having a conversation with someone who has bad verbal diarrhoea. That said, it would be an interesting project to buy the figure and strip away all the detail and fix the jazz hand to see how it might look. Thanks for the review :)
FancyLlamas Well, I mainly collect Forge World and other resin miniatures so I really, really like detailed models. My issue with this dude isn't the detail (which is good but limited by the plastic medium) but the sheer quantity of stuff going on, hence my suggestion.
Not fond of this mini. His pose and all that cartoony, unnecessary detail distracts from what he's meant to be; an implacable, hulking menace whose silhouette should be recognisable a mile away.
Not sure why, but I really dislike this and all the Plague Infantry(Other than the Lord of Contagion) It all looks so dumb and happy, they should be smiling, but they should be ominous, terrifying models, not clowns, we've got harlequins for that.
His weapon looks like the number seven. Very fitting.
His pose looks like he's standing before an enemy army spreading his disease and flies; not really in combat but being all anime going "BEHOLD MY DESTROYER HIVE, IMPERIAL LAPDOGS!" while menacing katakana float above his head
since he's also a sorcerer it's not hard to imagine him casting some kind of spell in that pose
Personally the Death Guard are my favourite faction looks-wise, might be a controversial opinion but I love the colour scheme, big chunky armour, huge weapons and above all, all the antlers/horns

you are best of magnetizing the flies. not only can you change his apearance with it but its also more conveniant to transport
Typhus be like "Wheeeeewww! Look at my scythe, dude! Best scythe around on this planet! Wheeeeeewwww!"
caiustarquitius lmao
"It´s the scythiest scythe evaaaaahhhh!"
Just had an ad for the London Sperm bank wtf?! Lol
Sup3rSaiy3n thanks for the Vid mate
Model seems nice, think i would leave flies off tho, thanks for review as i was kinda on the fence until now
Thanks for the vid dude, really appreciate the size comparison. I'll buy him but I'd need to convert him a bit get rid of the nurgling and have him facing the other directon maybe leave off the flies and reposition the sythe hand.
Can never go wrong with a little Jazz hands! :)
Think it's suppose to show him summoning/casting his hive thing?
Yup, if you watch the animated death guard trailer you can see him raising his arms as flies swarm him.

Soundwave ah right that makes more sense. Still confusing that BS would effect how well a grenade is thrown.
Great review. As ever. The designers have met their brief by creating a truly repellent mini.
The Death shroud are proper chunky models. They dwarf a lot of things on the board
The Deathshroud Champ's weapon was actually a bit cooler than Typhus' Manreaper. I may swap them.
I like it, but he REALLY needs some fire or something modeled on his left arm with greenstuff so it doesn't look so weird.
In my opinion, typhus's movement speed and wounds are the main reason I would use a lord of contagion in his place. But his different weapon choices and abilities are promising to use.

Thanks m8, I'll look into it some more :D

Nice review thanks
He's growing on me just like a boil on my bum
CraigSegger 😂
D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
i didn't like him when i first saw him but lately I've grown to like him as well
They are putting the figure out in the conquest magazine for £8
George Aitken yes they are... 1yr and 5 months after release.
Let’s face it after conquest came out who didn’t spend £10 on five issues of issue one to get 15 marines and a ton of paint pretty easy to use spare pieces to convert them

I was on the fence until I saw this ... I just went out and bought it. I'll leave the flies on as they add some extra colour to my Green Horde :)
Yes it certainly surpassed my expectations.
does the manreaper autohit been looking round and found a Reddit page for it but still not sure? could someone clear this up for me also if it did why didn't he say it could in the video?
yuno 639 If it did I would’ve said it in the video.

imgur.com/T6Efkiz
Yes
Teleport is only there because of background.
To me it looks like he's summoning the hive from inside himself
Yes we wants it
I thought the destroyer hive only hits on 5+
Moosecloth Gaming bit of confusion on this one. It says ‘always’ not ‘only’ but then they give him a BS and highlight that modifiers do not effect this.
whats his power level?
Zachary Rhodes OVER 9,000! sorry couldn’t resist, it’s 9.
Perhaps Typhus having Epic sax guy playing on his head and that's why "jazz hand" to feel a beat xD
Pickle Rick 🤣
70 AUD

Too busy? It looks fine. More detail doesn't equal bad

leakycheese I don't see what your talking about, looks fine in my opinion.
FancyLlamas Exactly, that's your opinion, and what I said is mine.
leakycheese Yup. I'll respect that

you right, its just GW model designing team prepares to join Walt Disney group.
Don't like this one, think I'll stick with the old one.
He is not the best models it pisses me off because the herald of nurgle doesn't deserve this
@Vince Friel I'm confused on what you mean by that
The Lord of Contagion looks better. Typhus has got too much going on.
