New Zealand has always felt like home to me, I studied abroad back in 2020 right before the pandemic hit and got to stay for a month before having to come home to the US. It was the only place I felt authentically me and I didnt pretend to be someone I wasn't. I promised myself once I graduated college I would move back to NZ and stay for a long period (3-5 years) fast forward three years, this year 2023, and I am now living in New Zealand, doing a graduate degree for teaching and then am going to teach here, dreams do come true😍
I lived in London for just under 2 years and it was honestly the best time of my life. I made such great friends and fell in love with the city! Enjoy your time and if you do decide to up and move, you will not regret it! Just make sure to thoroughly read through the visa application because the refund process can take up to 3-6 months if it’s messed up. Oh and I did find using my debit card through contactless on my phone was much easier than an oyster card when using the public transport. ❤❤❤
Just to jump in - using the Oyster card can save you a lot of money! The rates are changing I think but you still get a cap on the Oyster you don't on cards

@@RB-747 On the contrary; the only time Oyster is worth it now is if you have a railcard. Otherwise the caps are the same.

Fellow Minnesotan here! I can totally understand the feeling of home not literally at home. I am currently temporarily in Ireland for a little over a month and I also was here 3 years ago for a study abroad semester and there’s a reason I came back haha like I literally just feel so serene and at peace here and the nature and beauty of the country just always feels magical. ❤️

One of my closest and longest friends I met via Tumblr and they live in the UK. It's crazy how moments of random connection can form friendships that are long lasting and wonderful! Glad you have been able to keep those friendships thriving!

I'm living in central London at the moment for uni :)! I moved from a small village a few months ago, I'm finding it quite hard adjusting to city life haha, but im slowly getting there. I knew it would be a big step and its difficult but I know when I settle in it'll pay off! My home is still the village I'm from but I'd like to think of london as my home too someday. I love your videos :)
I traveled to Switzerland over the summer and the people and views were unmatched. I just felt so calm and at peace. The cobblestone streets and the strangers speaking over the quiet lull of the stream that ran through the city. I have never felt more safe in my life. The old ferris wheel that was seen by all, over the small barren trees. The quaint chocolate shops and the way the aroma filled the alleyways. Perfection. Absolute perfection.
I resonate with this so much ! moving across the world years ago was scary at the time but now I feel at home because of the friendships I've built. as you said, *"relationships are the most important thing in life,"* and sometimes life coerces you to step out of your comfort zone to make those lifelong memories 💖

I've never lived in London, but i'm from France so I can go there quite often and for some reasons I NEED to go to London at least once a year, it's for the well-being of my mental health because that's where I feel the most me, I'm at ease, my social anxiety is almost nonexistent when i'm there. Also when I'm travelling to London I love to tell my friends "I'm going back home! 🥰" because somehow that's how it feels to me, it feels like home even if I don't live there

As someone from SoCal I don’t know how you lasted in LA for 10 years. I totally understand why you want to move and I definitely think you should! If you try it and don’t like it you can always find somewhere else but if it’s calling you go do what will make you happy!!

My home away from home is Norway. Did my exchange semester there in 2019 and it was the most freeing 4 months of my life. Met people that will always be dear to me and felt like myself for the first time in forever. Every decision I made was for me and me alone. I found myself surrounded by like-minded beautiful people that also pushed my boundaries in the most sensible way and allowed me to be myself simply by them being themselves as well. Of course the situation of exchange semester is very unique and it will never be the same in Oslo when I come back because all these people are scattered around the world now, but I have so many wonderful memories.
Connor! Over 10 years of admiring your work and now we're in the same country for a while 🥺 My best friend and soulmate lives in Poland, so long distance friendships are very understandable to me. It's both magical and disappointing when we travel to see each other around the world; it's such a beautiful and unique adventure but it always ends too soon 💜
it's so crazy to realize how I grew up watching your videos. I was maybe 10 or 11 watching your first videos in your college dorm, now I'm in my 20s and in college and still watching your videos. Truly you're such a comfort and inspiration for me. Hi Connor! The video was gorgeous! My favorite place I have been to was also London. I went there in 2014 with my girl scout troop. My best friend and I put a lock on the Tower Bridge while we were there and kept the key. Next year will be ten years and I am going to go back and couldn't be more excited. it's so comforting to me to hear you say that things like home and where you belong make more sense as you grow older!! i am in my early twenties right now and moved out from my hometown (which i felt i was deeply rooted in and would never want to leave) to study somewhere else around one and a half years ago. and this year, i moved even further to the other side of the planet to study abroad for a year and its just. so! overwhelming! to switch between all these different places, getting used to new beautiful surroundings while missing my old homes and meeting so many new lovely people wherever i go that i will all eventually have to leave behind though. it's like you said, most of my closest and dearest relationships are long-distance now which keeps making me feel extremely torn apart and lost, yet also, i am somehow still doing fine?? it feels so scary, yet so good and exciting to explore these new places, continuously making me question where i belong and where i should go so it just feels so so reassuring and calming to hear that with time, it will all make more sense. thank you for that connor!!

OMG thank you for being so nice and open and just cool! Started watching this video, got inspired went for a walk ( I am currently in Glasgow for an exchange semester, but also been traveling a lot for the past 2 years and have lived in different places) and the feeling of home sometimes hits, it is like u don't know anymore where u belong. But at the same, I feel that it is so cool to have this opportunity now to just travel and live in different places. By the way, isn't London too much and overwhelming to u? i had a travel experience sort of like that!! i went on a two week trip all over northern italy and greece and fell in love with florence. i met some amazing people, and i miss them ALL THE TIME. i also went during a time in my life where i was doing the same thing. wallowing. hoping things would change themselves. i came back, quit my job, and have been doing so much better since then. love the video!

I went on a dream trip to London last year to visit some harry potter filming locations and I litterally had the exact same feeling you have, being there felt a bit like home to me. I also met up with a friend I got in contact with online, crazy experience! I would for sure would love to go back to London one day! 😊❤🇬🇧

I recently went on my first international trip to Roatan Honduras for scuba diving... It really changed me as a person. And now I want to go back and spend a couple months there... Its an incredible experience if you're wanting to learn more about how important our oceans really are to our planet. I've never been much of a go getter till now and all I have to say is: Live dangerously! :)) sending love and all of the positive vibes on all of your travels moving forward!

I got to spend a month in England too last summer (and I'm also a fellow Minnesotan)! I spent the first 2 weeks with friends I met online, which included celebrating my 23rd birthday, and the rest of the time I stayed with a family friend in her gorgeous estate just outside of London! I fell in love with that city as well; however I had also fallen in love with nyc earlier that year, as well as Montréal when I was a teenager!
While I still feel at home in Minneapolis, the city I was born and grew up in, I hope one day I can have more opportunities to travel to and live in any of those other cities I visited before, along with any other parts of the world I'd love to see!

Honestly i feel like everyone is doing big change and moving and stuff and im just finally settling into my city after 5 years of being here. Finding new friends and community is so nice, i dont think im gunna leave anytime soon
I moved to London a few years ago & it was the best decision! I love it here! If you feel a pull towards the city, I think you should take the leap and move.
Very grateful to have visited many parts of this world but it means my heart is set in SO many places. I graduated college in December so I am yet again in another transitory phase. Funny-- I started looking for apartments then went to UA-cam for some background and this popped up. I'm not sure if I'll ever feel "at home" or maybe home is a composite of many different things. But I can't imagine myself living somewhere for more than maybe a year or a year and a half, which is exciting but also heartbreaking. So, you know. We'll see where life takes me.

I went to England & Scotland for just over two weeks once & it rained literally everyday but it wasn't too bad. It didn't rain all day every day. I had a raincoat with a hood & I went to museums & castles & palaces & cathedrals. I wasn't going on a beach vacation. I also went in July so it wasn't a cold rain.

I’d love to hear more about the long distance… and even Arden and will’s side of this? I LIVE for your content when you show them visiting you in LA or you visit London, it’s something I relate to *so much*. I am currently not in a relationship, and my closest friends moved away last year to NM and CA. At 26, it’s hard to reconcile that distance, and I wish I could visit them all the time. I’m also considering moving to be closer. Only time will tell what will happen…

Although I'm from Michigan and lived in big city Chicago for three years, I feel very much at home in the mountains of North Carolina. I found a small group of friends that has been fun to be with and supportive of my work and mental health. The two most important pieces are that it's not my hometown and it's sooooo much less stressful than Chicago!!
I'm from the Arizona desert, but currently I'm on the other side of the county in the rain and snow. I miss the sun on my face, but I am going back this summer so all is well

My number one dream is to be able to travel more, not being able to afford to leave my home much makes me feel so trapped. I feel like I won't start living until I get that freedom to see more of this world and experience it fully. I've wanted to move for as long as I can remember, I just hope I'll get the opportunity to do that and find a place where I belong. It's so hard being stuck in this limbo, but Connor's story makes me hope that there's more for me in the future after this confusing lonely stage of my life is over.
I relate so hard with this. I hope only good things happen from now.

Ever since college, I haven't felt like I have been "home". Whether it was in my first dorm room, my apartment, or going back to my childhood house, I just haven't found that feeling in a place. What I realized was that my home isn't within a place but in the people in my life. That feeling radiates from a person now, and I can't wait to see all the other homes I will experience throughout this life.
I’ve lived in Ohio my entire life and have been more than ready for a change for awhile now, though it seems like something always pops up that delays this plan. I feel happiest and most at home in Boston, and the entire New England region in general. There’s just so much to love about it❤

I’m currently in a phase of life where I’m searching for a place that feels like home. I’ve visited North Carolina a few times. Raleigh a few times and then recently Charlotte. Visiting Charlotte only once, I fell in love. It’s been 7 months and counting since I was last in Charlotte and I think about living their constantly, even if it’s for a year. I thought I was crazy for falling in love so quickly, but now I know I’m not. Thank you for that reassurance
