Hey I played this exact same drum kit when I was up there at sweet water visiting Fort Wayne last week while there with my dad was looking around at guitars I went off to the drums and saw it in a glass or plastic walls around it but with a little opening of them to get to the kit I seen it sitting there and I decided to play it and fell in love with it right away I am surprised of how good it sounded i am glad to get the opportunity to try it out while I was there.
True , they fiddle around with the sound thru the mikes , u can make any drum sound like whatever u want , room mics give u a better idea , I totally agree
@@smithsakulkaew when drum center in New Hampshire does demos they have a different part of the demo which specifically says ,’ room mics’ the sound is very different than when they have all the mics together, there might be mikes hanging for show but there is no separate room mic demo so people that have them in their basement like myself can get a better idea of what they really sound like without thousands of dollars of mikes , studio equipment and everything else that is needed to make them sound like they do in their demos
When you listen to Tama star classic reviews you think oh that sounds amazing when you listen to Gresh renown reviews you think oh that sounds amazing then you listen to DW and you realize what amazing actually sounds like the greatest drums on the planet and Nick is number one
Uh let me just say that as someone who originally started with PDP and then switched to TAMA for a while only to eventually find my way back to DW I’m not at all surprised 😂 they’re the best.
I have a Performance kit and never gave the stock heads a try. I still have them on hand. This video has me intrigued. Gonna slap them on, torque 'em up and give them a whirl!
Isn’t a full maple pretty much the same as having a Performance Series? I know the customization that comes with the Collectors, but as shell-wise speaking would be the same right? American Maple on both 🤷🏻♂️ Just want to know what you guys think… 🤟🏻
The kit sounds amazing but wrapped drums are related with being cheap in my mind. I can't see past a wrap. No matter the sound. That alone has made my venture to buy a new drum kit even harder. I wonder why so many companies opt out of natural/lacquered finishes in the higher end lines.
Lacquer do look great for sure.but give me a wrap finish any day for gigging. Much better wearing. Some of expensive laquered kits look more like high end furniture... which would make me extremely nervous taking them out....
@@scottapthorpe6172 for the durability I can understand it. But I wouldn't ever move mine. I have other kits I could throw around carelessly. $3-5k for a wrapped kit seems crazy to me. Give me a nice finish and I'm a happy boy.
All that for under $4800? Well I'll be grabbing 4 or 5 sets at that incredible price. Said no one. Ever. I can't deal with DW and their obscene pricing, especially for a maple kit.
Tama star classic 😂 Have u seen the price of a tama star like 3000$ more than dw. Star classic same price as design series. Design series blows star classic away

Nick is a monster player. However when he does a demo he really does it for the sake of the instrument, not to try and impress with his chops.

I like the demos but I wish they would do room mic sounds maybe over heads. It would give a better idea what they sound like without close mics.

If you’re spending the money on a kit like this, there’s a 99% chance it’s either going be miked in a studio or miked on a stage. Not a bedroom kit.

They are close.. Performance just a tad thicker shells with NO rings. Derinitely a great kit IMO...
